Luly Yang
Inducted into the Asian Hall of Fame in 2019, Taiwanese-American fashion designer Luly Yang is the founder of Luly Yang Couture. The fashion house specializes in couture, evening wear, bridal, and other bespoke creations that balance form and function. In addition to stunning custom designs — such as the brocade gown Alicia Hannah-Kim wore to the Gold Gala — Yang also manufactures branded corporate uniforms and leisure wear through Luly Yang Design Group and Luleisure by Luly Yang.
Sabyasachi Mukherjee
Highlighting Indian textile tradition and craftsmanship, fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee, founder of Sabyasachi, caters to some of the biggest names in global entertainment. The Indian creative is recognized for his collaborations with international brands such as Christian Louboutin, L’Oréal and Estée Lauder, as well as his modern interpretation of traditional Indian clothing — which has captivated the likes of Deepika Padukone and Alia Bhatt. Musician Halsey and actor Avan Jogia are also among Sabyasachi’s international clientele. At the 2024 Gold Gala, both stars proudly sported Sabyasachi’s opulent designs on the red carpet.
Le Thanh Hoa
Loved by fashion enthusiasts, Vietnamese designer Le Thanh Hoa and his eponymous brand stand out for elegant eveningwear creations. Featured on nearly every major red carpet, Le Thanh Hoa’s designs flaunt exquisite craftsmanship and intricate details such as embroidery, beading and draping. Actresses Anjali Bhimani and Leah Lewis, as well as TV host Lilly Singh, took elaborate Le Thanh Hoa looks to the Gold Gala red carpet on May 11.
Rahul Mishra
Couture genius Rahul Mishra has long been creating well-informed collections that pay homage to his Indian heritage and the country’s millenary workmanship. Over the years, the designer has made a name for himself, presenting his work at international Fashion Weeks and collecting design awards — he is in fact the first Indian designer awarded the International Woolmark Prize. Mishra was responsible for one of the most notable looks at the Gold Gala, an avant-garde corset top with coordinated ivory pants worn by blogger and fashion influencer Jessica Wang.
Demon Zhang
Central Saint Martins alumni and Mithridate founder, Demon Zhang, is one of China’s rising fashion stars. After stints assisting Alexander McQueen and John Galliano, the designer founded her independent fashion label in Guangzhou. With an emphasis on ethereal and fantasy-infused creations, Mithridate has quickly become a celebrity favorite. At the brand’s most recent fashion show, for example, Kelly Rutherford and Alice Hewkin sat front row dressed in Mithridate looks. Most recently, Zhang’s idiosyncratic approach to eveningwear earned Mithridate a spot on the Gold Gala red carpet — sported by actress Minnie Mills.
