New (Pokémon) Horizons

Pokémon Horizons: The Series” is Pokémon’s exclusive Netflix series, scheduled for release on March 7. The show follows protagonists Liko and Roy, the Pokémon series’ new main characters since the iconic Ash Ketchum was officially retired in 2023. To inaugurate the release of its new show, The Pokémon Company International is partnering with New York City’s Empire State Building — so prepare to see Pokémon-curated lights in-person or on your social media feed. Pokémon GO players can also look forward to themed events in the app between March 5 and March 11, including the introduction of a Pikachu wearing Cap’s hat.

It’s Time for Pokémon Legends and TCG

Last, but certainly not least, The Pokémon Company International announced the launch of two new games. The Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) is going digital as Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket, a free-to-start mobile app. Though the release date for the app is still unknown, players can look forward to playing in 2024. The Pokémon TCG Game Pocket will allow players to collect the Pokémon cards they know and love digitally. Those who struggle to get their hands on physical cards will be happy to hear that the game gifts players two free card packs every day.

The highly-anticipated Pokémon Legends: Z-A is Pokémon’s newest main franchise game. It is the follow-up to the successful Pokémon Legends: Arceus and will seemingly follow a similar adventure format. Additionally, Pokémon Legends: Z-A will take players back to the region of Kalos, which has been unvisited since Pokémon X and Pokémon Y were released in 2013. The game is slated for release worldwide in 2025, and more news about the upcoming instalment are sure to follow throughout the year.

This year’s Pokémon Day Pokémon Presents broadcast was the epitome of short but sweet. Pokémon fans have plenty of new content to look forward to as they await the release of Pokémon Legends: Z-A and the future of their beloved Pokémon franchise.
