Linkin Park and Ashnikko took the stage at O2 Arena alongside more musical acts to inaugurate the League of Legends 2024 World Championship final on November 2. Since its September start, the League of Legends 2024 World Championship (Worlds) has pitted the world’s top League of Legends teams against each other for the title of World Champion. The Final: Victory for t1

The League of Legends World Championship is the most popular e-sports tournament in the world – last year, the 2023 Worlds Finals became the most-watched e-sports event of all time. This year has been no different, with high viewership rates throughout Worlds 2024 and more than 500,000 live viewers tuning in for the live finals on Twitch alone.

Worlds 2024 began with 20 teams on September 25, with several weeks of competitive matches, weeding competitors out. In the end, two teams remained: SK Telecom T1 (T1) and Bilibili Gaming (BLG). T1 was the reigning champion after a groundbreaking Worlds win in 2023. Meanwhile, BLG was the 1st seed for the LPL after stellar performance throughout the year.

In the finals Best of Five, T1 and BLG gave viewers whiplash — BLG swiped a first win, followed by a victory from T1. Then, BLG took the third game, marking the night’s first match point, before losing the fourth match to T1. After a heated fifth game, T1 came out victorious. Members Faker, Zeus, Oner, Gumayusi and Keria celebrated their back-to-back titles with contagious joy.

The Ceremony

Ahead of the year’s most highly-anticipated e-sports finals of the year, a series of performances raised the energy levels in O2 Arena. Mars Atlas of Forts and Tiffany Aris performed “Still Here” from the League of Legends 2024 season start cinematic. American singer-songwriter Ashnikko brought to life “Paint the Town Blue” from the Arcane season two soundtrack. Finally, rock band Linkin Park set the stage for the final match with “Heavy is The Crown,” this year’s Worlds anthem.

This year’s World Championships initiates an exciting year-end for game developer Riot Games. In addition to hosting the year’s biggest e-sports event, Riot Games is awaiting the release of Netflix original show Arcane’s second season. The highly-successful show returns to Netflix in three installments starting on November 9. In-game promotional events across the Riot Games portfolio will accompany the Arcane release.
