This policy explains what information the EnVi Media app (“the app”) and envimedia.co handle, and why. The app and website are operated by EnVi Media (“we”, “us”).
The short version
- You don’t need an account to use the app, and we don’t ask for your name, email, or contact details.
- The app has no advertising and no analytics or tracking SDKs.
- Your saved stories and recent searches are stored only on your device.
- When you search, your search terms are sent to our search provider, Algolia, to return results.
- Some stories include content embedded from other services (for example Instagram, TikTok, Spotify, or YouTube). Those services may collect information under their own policies when that content loads.
Information the app stores on your device
- Saved stories. When you save a story, a copy of its title, image, and byline is stored on your device so you can find it later.
- Recent searches. Your last few search terms are stored on your device to make searching again quicker.
This information never leaves your device and isn’t sent to us. Deleting the app removes it.
Information sent when you use the app
- Loading stories. The app fetches stories, images, and issues from envimedia.co. Like any website, our servers and hosting provider receive technical information needed to deliver content, such as your IP address, device type, and the time of the request. This is used to operate and secure the service.
- Search. Search terms you enter are sent to Algolia, which powers search on the app and website, to return matching stories, profiles, and issues. We don’t link searches to your identity.
- Embedded content. Stories may include posts, videos, or music embedded from third parties such as Instagram, TikTok, Spotify, and YouTube. When that content loads, it comes directly from those services, which may set cookies or collect usage information under their own privacy policies.
- Links and PDFs. Some links and issue PDFs open in an in-app browser. Websites you visit that way are governed by their own privacy policies.
The website
envimedia.co uses Google Analytics to understand how many people visit the site and which stories they read. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and collects information such as the pages you view, your approximate location, your device and browser type, and the site that referred you. We look at this information in aggregate only and don’t use it to identify you.
You can read how Google uses this information in Google’s privacy policy, and you can opt out with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or by blocking cookies in your browser.
Search, embedded content, and links on the website work the same way as in the app, as described above.
What we don’t do
- We don’t sell your personal information.
- We don’t use your information for targeted advertising.
- We don’t track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
Children
The app is a general-audience publication and isn’t directed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your choices and rights
Because the app doesn’t collect personal information about you, there is usually nothing for us to access or delete. You can clear your saved stories and recent searches at any time by removing them in the app or deleting the app. Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA; contact us using the details below and we’ll help.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. We’ll post the new version on this page and update the date above.
