Autumn is in full swing, and so are the beats on this week’s newest releases. While some artists are making music for those going with the end-of-year flow, others are creating for hype holiday parties. No matter what your upcoming agenda looks like, a song will match your vibe.

Joyce Wrice – “Dangerous”

Japanese-American recording artist Joyce Wrice is back with her highly anticipated sophomore studio album, MACHIKO. It’s been a little over five years since her last album, Overgrown, and this 14-track project proves that she has truly honed her signature sound over the years. MACHIKO’s nostalgia-fueled sound doesn’t feel dated as Joyce Wrice brings in contemporary elements — whether that be more modern melodies and rap verses or trap-infused beats. Joyce Wrice is credited as a composer and lyricist on every track with the exception of “Rio’s Interlude,” making the project’s seamless tracklisting all the more impressive.

Most tracks on MACHIKO draw inspiration from earlier eras of R&B and funk, with “Dangerous” as a prime example. “Dangerous” feels like a cut from Michael Jackson’s debut album, Off the Wall, with its prominent bassline and irresistible groove that rings true to ’70s disco funk. The song’s bridge even features a call-and-response type harmony that makes it the perfect track to sing along to. “Dangerous” is self-explanatory from its title, where her dynamic with someone feels so natural that she’s aware that it may come at a cost. She admits in the bridge: “When it comes to you, dangerous (It’s true what they say about us).”

IV OF SPADES – “Rollercoaster”

Since their surprise reunion in 2025, beloved OPM band IV OF SPADES has maintained a consistent run of releases. Their newest single, “Rollercoaster,” is the perfect transition from the heat of the summer into the moodier autumn season. “Rollercoaster” evokes a sort of anemoia for those who didn’t get to experience ’90s indie rock, which is further fueled by its “home video-esque” music video. The song combines elements of reggae and Manila Sound for a laid-back vibe that will have you dipping into your feelings. “Rollercoaster” oozes with lyrical imagery that makes it feel like a sugary-sweet love poem: “There you are / Lovely individual / Chemical / Technicolor visual.” This track arrives at an opportune time for the quartet: right after their win for “Alternative Song of the Year” at the 2026 Filipino Music Awards and amidst their North American tour.

UMI and grentperez – “close to you”

It does not get more low-cortisol than grentperez and UMI. Combining them? That’s changing the game. The duo has always circled each other in the music scene with heavily overlapping fanbases and equally soothing sonic palettes. Now, worlds have officially collided with their release of “close to you.” After officially meeting at a college show, the two soon found themselves in the studio alongside producer MarcLo, and before they knew it, “close to you” was born.

The song draws on both of their experiences of seeing through the lens of love, whether that’s self-love, platonic love, or romantic love. It reflects on how these relationships can change everything someone sees, how they perceive it, and how everything feels better once love is there. With UMI’s airy vocals flowing into grentperez’s grounded notes, the two blend perfectly to create an earthy yet transcendent track.

In a press release, grentperez talked about the collaboration, saying, “We honestly clicked, which was great. Knowing that UMI is a pretty spiritual and free person, I felt comfy letting loose, cracking dumbass jokes, and contemplating life. Contemplating life is always welcome with me.”

Kiana V – “I Know Better”

Filipina singer-songwriter Kiana V has returned with her second album, I Know Better, and the standout R&B track of the same name, eighth on the collection. The album deals with the push and pull of love, lust, and limerence. Though “I Know Better” sums this all up into one phrase, ultimately questioning why she keeps going back if she knows she shouldn’t. Kiana V’s velvety vocals lead the listener through her thought process of receiving a fateful call from that certain someone and, over a soothing R&B beat, she wonders if she is going to ever end this cycle.

I Know Better is Kiana V’s first independent album, built by the artist, from the subject matter to the sound to the visuals. It stands as documentation of her growth in love and life as she worked through healing her heart in the modern world of romance. In reflection about the album’s subject matter, Kiana V said, “I think we all wish that once we know better, we automatically do better. But sometimes you see the mess you’re creating, and you still lean into it. That’s the human part of it, I guess.”

Though she now lives in Los Angeles, Kiana V will be returning to the Philippines for the highly anticipated PLUS63 Festival in November to sing her latest and greatest hits.

KickFlip – “Kick Off The Wall (Feat. iann dior)”

K-pop boy group KickFlip contrasts the sentimentality of their previous focus track, “Puzzle Piece,” in the high-octane “Kick Off The Wall.” In “Puzzle Piece,” KickFlip contemplates the complexities of growing pains and equates them to a puzzle piece that can’t fit or be forced in. “Kick Off The Wall” presents a more optimistic perspective on growing pains: “Don’t know how it’ll end, but there ain’t no doubt / Go straight, just look ahead / Push all those complicated thoughts aside / As long as I have you, I’m alright.” These two tracks are a glimpse into KickFlip’s 5th mini-album, KICK OFF THE WALL Pt. 1. The project’s eight tracks display KickFlip coming into their own in their third year with a pop-rock sound they’ve grown to be synonymous with.

“Kick Off The Wall” delivers quintessential KickFlip with a pop-rock-infused dance track and energy that doesn’t waver for a single moment. The energy doubles when viral rapper iann dior hops on the third verse with a more melodic rap delivery. He shouts out his collaborators: “It’s me and kick, money flip, got ‘em wondering now / All of a sudden we the talk of the town.” This cross-cultural collaboration is a first for KickFlip, leaving many excited for what else this rising act has in store.

ONE OR EIGHT – “Yellow Brick Road”

Japanese boy group ONE OR EIGHT returns with their latest digital single, “Yellow Brick Road,” following the release of their first EP, EN-GÏNE. The bright, refreshing single features as the ending theme of Season 2 of the television anime Black Clover. The track opens with ethereal but subdued synths overlaid with muted guitar, letting the vocals take center stage in the first verse. In true pop-ballad fashion, the song builds to a soaring chorus. Syncopated percussion and harmonized vocals create a feel-good vibe that can brighten up anyone’s day. The track draws parallels between the lives of the characters in Black Clover and the members of ONE OR EIGHT: fighting through adversity to follow your path alongside your friends.

“Yellow Brick Road” is ONE OR EIGHT’s first track with Japanese as the primary language. The eight members — Souma, Mizuki, Tsubasa, Reia, Ryota, Takeru, Yuga, and Neo — first burst onto the scene in 2024 with the funky pop track, “Don’t Tell Nobody.” Since then, they have made waves. From the heavy-hitting Big Sean collaboration “KAWASAKI” to their iconic “TOKYO DRIFT” rework, ONE OR EIGHT have established themselves as unrelenting creative musicians. “Yellow Brick Road” is yet another foray into their next sound, and the perfect track to hit repeat on all week long.

MANIFEST – “TRALALA”

After debuting in 2025 with their single “Zamansızdık” and gaining success over the year, MANIFEST are officially ready for a global takeover with their new debut English track “TRALALA.” MANIFEST are showcasing what it means to be independent, strong women in modern-day Türkiye, and they aren’t letting anyone stop them. In “TRALALA,” they own being the center of attention when they enter a room or just walk by, even if they did not mean to be. So, you may want to, but you won’t be able to take your eyes off their “TRALALA.” This single is a perfect confidence pick-me-up and a bold personal anthem, and with these six girls passionately singing in your ears, it’s hard not to listen.

Consisting of members Sueda, Hilal, Lidya, Mina, Zeynep, and Esin, MANIFEST is here to stay. The girls were put together on the survival show Big5 Türkiye, where they were supposed to be a five-member group, but destiny had other plans, and the judges and audience could not deny that they had to be six. While they have had triumphs and tribulations in the past year, MANIFEST has proven that they are determined to share their art with the world and uplift women everywhere, no matter what.

Past self – “Gravetown”

Korean goth pioneers past self are back with their latest single, “Gravetown,” just in time for the autumn weather to start rolling in. The three-member band hails from Las Vegas, Nevada, and pairs Korean lyrics with goth, post-punk, and synthwave sounds. In “Gravetown,” members Sung, æther, and Spektor put goth front and center. The ambient, midtempo track builds on a haunting synth melody and classic goth bass guitar line to weave the story of a sour relationship full of betrayal and jealousy. “울 때는 나의 친구, 좋을 때 사라진 (My friend when I cry, disappear when things were good),” Sung echoes with heavy reverb. “Curse every word I speak.”

“Gravetown” comes as past self’s second single of the year amidst a nonstop tour and festival lineup. Since their 2024 breakout track “녹슨 칼,” meaning “rusted knife,” past self’s audience has grown worldwide. Throughout 2026, the band played a spring headline tour across the United States, a smaller co-tour with fellow post-punk artists DECEITS and Night Ritualz, and has upcoming autumn festival dates across the West Coast. This includes a spot in the lineup of the Darker Waves Festival alongside The Smashing Pumpkins and Soft Cell. If the rain and fog are rolling in, try “Gravetown” as the perfect pairing for that spooky autumn ambiance.

LEGO – “ไม่รวยไม่คุย (Rich)”

Thai pop group LYKN’s youngest member LEGO makes his explosive solo debut with “ไม่รวยไม่คุย (Rich),” a confident, high-energy track fit for an action movie. With hard-hitting beats and a combination of both rap and vocals, LEGO boldly declares exactly what he wants. “Who comes first? / Baby, get back in line,” he asserts in the second verse. “If you’re no good / I’m not easy, so I say bye.” For LEGO, money means nothing if you’re not rich in love — he’s already rich enough in money and beauty for himself.

The music video puts LEGO’s style and confidence on full display. The lovers-and-enemies plotline echoes the likes of Mr. & Mrs. Smith, with LEGO as a dangerous femme fatale in a high-stakes heist. Clad in a blood-red corseted outfit with lace, LEGO dances with his partner in crime, only to realize he may not be able to trust him. In the final dance scene, he dons a skin-tight leather outfit, high-heeled boots, and a fiery red wig, showing off his sharp moves as LYKN’s main dancer. With “ไม่รวยไม่คุย (Rich),” LEGO brings the best of T-pop and the next obsession to your playlist.

Other tracks in this week’s Sunday Spin playlist include “dizzy” by strongboi, Remi Wolf’s “Champagne,” “La Falda” by Judeline, and rhodessa’s “MRT.” Listen to everything mentioned and more, curated by Team EnVi only for you on Spotify.
