Kian’s Bizarre B&B 

From the creative minds behind Hyori’s Homestay comes Kian’s Bizarre B&B, a fresh, tumultuous take on the reality genre. Leading the nine-episode series is webtoon artist and television personality Kian84, who owns and operates two bed-and-breakfast locations on Ulleungdo Island. Based on Kian’s distinctive life philosophy, the wacky designs keep guests — and viewers alike — on their toes. “Even if things are difficult, I want people to bond. Struggles leave a lasting impression. If it’s easy, it isn’t memorable,” Kian states in the show. 

Chosen by Kian himself, additional cast members include comedian actor Ji Ye-eun and BTS member Jin. As each day passes, the guests and staff at Kian’s Bizarre B&B learn how to live meaningfully — even if it means stepping outside the box.

The Eternaut

Looking for your next binge-able post-apocalyptic series? The Eternaut, based on the 1957 Argentine graphic novel of the same name by Héctor Germán Oestherheld and Francisco Solano López, details the lives of those who survived a toxic and mysterious snowfall that killed millions. 

Juan Salvo (Ricardo Darín), a survivor searching for his daughter, becomes the leader of a provisional resistance after uncovering secrets concerning the snow and what lurks within it. Other cast members joining the fight for survival are Carla Peterson, César Troncoso, and Andrea Pietra. In tandem with the gripping visual experience, viewers can look forward to an equally compelling score from Argentine composer Federico Jusid, who has composed music for over 130 productions. The Eternaut, consisting of six episodes, premieres on Netflix on April 30.

Frozen Hot Boys 

Inspired by true events, Frozen Hot Boys is a tale of resilience and second chances. Chom (Natapohn-Taew Tameeruks), a teacher at a juvenile detention center, recruits a group of delinquent teens to enroll in a snow sculpting competition in Sapporo, Japan. Her good deed seems genuine on the surface, but in actuality, she harbors a hidden agenda. Leading the unlikely crew is Jab (Nuttawat-Bank Thanataviepraserth), the center’s most notorious troublemaker. Despite being from a sweltering region like Thailand, Jab displays surprisingly impeccable ice sculpting skills.

Jewel Thief – The Heist Begins 

Following the release and major success of spy action films War (2019) and Pathaan (2023), Indian filmmaker Siddharth Raj Anand explores a new exhilarating sub-genre with Jewel Thief – The Heist Begins. The action-thriller marks the second film under Anand’s Marflix Pictures following Fighter (2024), which received major box office success. Saif Ali Khan takes on the role of a clever con artist who devises a plan to steal the ancient Red Sun diamond. Opposing his meticulously planned mission is Jaideep Ahlawat, who plays a formidable mafia boss. 

Set across Budapest, Istanbul, and Mumbai, this high-stakes heist film directed by Kookie Gulati and Robbie Grewal is sure to leave audiences on the edge of their seats. Other actors included in the production are Kunal Kapoor, who portrays a sharp-witted cop, and Nikita Dutta, Khan’s right-hand lady. Just ahead of the film’s release, viewers got a sneak peek of the duo’s chemistry through the first song, “Jaadu,” sung by Raghav Chaitanya.

A Queen’s Runway

Under their self-founded production company, Movart, Belgian filmmakers Tom Sys and Erik Sopracasa present the first-ever look into the intricacies of pageant life in the Philippines through the documentary A Queen’s Runway

With exclusive interviews from various contestants like Chelsea Manalo, audiences learn of the dedication and grit that each woman endures while vying for the crown in the Miss Universe Philippines competition. Outside of the beauty queens, creative directors, marketers, and other behind-the-scenes workers share their side, explaining all the minute details that make up the backbone of the event. 

Bullet Train Explosion 

The upcoming action thriller film Bullet Train Explosion is a contemporary retelling of the 1975 Japanese classic film The Bullet Train. Helmed by Shin Godzilla co-director Shinji Higuchi, the gripping story revolves around a Tokyo-bound bullet train that is set to explode if its speed goes below 100 kph (approximately 62 mph).

Tsuyoshi Kusanagi plays the unlucky conductor who must race against the clock to save his passengers. Additional cast members portraying unsuspecting passengers hailing from different walks of life include Youtuber Todoroki (Jun Kaname), high-school student Yuzuki (Hana Toyoshima), and politician Yuko Kagami (Machiko Ono). Through a collaboration with the railway company JR East, the production gained access to real bullet trains and facilities, which opened up a realistic and immersive experience from beginning to end. The film will premiere globally on Netflix on April 23. 

The Wedding Banquet 

Following its premiere at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival in January, the romantic comedy film The Wedding Banquet had its theatrical release on April 18. Directed by Andrew Ahn and co-written by James Schmaus, the film touches on themes of cultural identity, queerness, and strict family expectations. After  Min (Han Gi-chan), a gay Korean immigrant, fails at proposing to his avoidant boyfriend Chris (Bowen Yang), he must find a new way to gain a green card. His next target is his upstairs neighbor and friend, Angela (Kelly Marie Tran), who is in a committed relationship with their partner Lee (Lily Gladstone). 

When asking for her hand in marriage, Min makes an offer she can’t refuse — since he is aware Angela and Lee are planning for a child. A green card marriage in exchange for funding for the couple’s IVF treatment. The plan seems simple, but the ruse is foiled after Min’s grandmother, Ja-Young (Youn Yuh-jung), hears of his engagement and insists on throwing an extravagant and very public Korean wedding. The Wedding Banquet is a remake of the 1993 film by Ang Lee.

Weak Hero Class 2 

Nearly three years after its initial premiere, the Korean action-drama thriller Weak Hero Class returns with a second season on April 25. Park Ji-hoon reprises the lead role, portraying Yoon Si-eun, a down-on-his-luck student who must navigate new friendships and battles against greater foes. 

After the loss of his dear friends, Si-eun transfers to Eunjang High School, where he plans to keep his head down, separating himself from his previous life of violence. As he adjusts to a new environment, he attracts a new set of friends: Seo Jun Tae (Choi Min-young), Go Hyun-tak (Lee Min-jae), and Park Hu-min (Ryeo Un), or Baku, who acts as the mediator of the school. Disrupting the peaceful atmosphere Baku aims to maintain is the Union, a crime syndicate that recruits students from surrounding schools. Eunjang students who are part of the notorious gang include Choi Hyo-man (Yoo Su-bin), Na Baek-jin (Bae Na-ra), and Geum Seong-je (Lee Jun-young). Will Yoon Si-eun make it out of the ensuing battle unscathed, or will he face even deeper losses than before?
