On January 31, the company released its report for Q4 2023, revealing the most popular fashion houses and style items between October and December. Prada and Miu Miu and Loewe, oh my!

Prada On Top

Prada took the backseat to its sister label, Miu Miu, in 2023 in terms of “Hottest Brand of the Year.” However, their inventory of accomplishments earned them the number-one spot on the Lyst Index for both Q1 and Q4 of 2023.

In the latter half of the year, Axiom Space — a space infrastructure developer based in Houston — announced its collaboration with Prada for NASA’s Next Gen Lunar Spacesuits. Months later, Prada opened Pradasphere II, a public exhibition in the Xuhui District of Shanghai that recapped Prada’s history from its founding in 1913 to the present.

With global ambassadors like Win Metawin the company’s gage continues to rise. The Thai actor has been a fixture at events around the world, generating high Media Impact Value™ (MIV®) numbers — at Prada Extends in Seoul, for example, he generated $1.4 million with his attendance. Most recently, Win was spotted at Prada’s Fall Winter 2024 show in Milan, wearing an all-black three-piece and a distressed leather jacket to brace the Italian winter.

Miu Miu, Versace, and Gucci Galore

Coming as no surprise, Miu Miu ranked second in the Q4 of 2023. However, the brand secured its position as the hottest brand in Lyst’s Year in Fashion for the second year in a row.

Bringing back ballet flats was a challenge Miu Miu graciously accepted, turning the dance staple into the it girl shoewear of the year. From Liu Wen and Troye Sivan walking the Spring Summer 2024 runway to IVE’s Wonyoung and stars of young Hollywood sitting front row, Miu Miu made waves throughout 2023.

The Milan-based subsidiary of Prada Group also hosted an array of events, including Miu Miu Club Tokyo with Canadian model Ever Anderson. Additionally, TWICE’s Momo and (G)I-DLE’s Minnie joined the Miu Miu family this past summer, building upon the future of the brand’s ambassadorial empire.

Meanwhile, Versace has remained in the top ten since Q3, thanks to its association with entertainment heavy-hitters. Anne Hathaway and Chris Lee became the first Versace Icons to star in the brand’s campaign for all-new wardrobe staples and Stray Kids’ Hyunjin was front and center in Versace’s 2023 holiday campaign

Ranked No.11, Gucci is part of the top 20 — one spot up since Q3. In addition to debuting the New Horsebit 1953 loafer campaign with Paul Mescal, Gucci introduced Xiao Zhan as a brand ambassador with “Link to Love.” The Italian brand has also strengthened its ties to Asian stars such as IU and Gulf Kanawut, who were seen supporting creative director Sabato De Sarno’s latest effort at Men’s Milan Fashion Week in January.

Call It a Comeback

Product-wise, retro shoewear made a comeback on Lyst’s “Hottest Products” ranking. For instance, Miu Miu reinvented kitten heels from the 1950s into a sleeker, sexier design — listed in third place. Likewise, Prada proved that loafers were not only fit for Ivy Leaguers in the 1960s. Endorsed by celebrities like Bella Hadid and Hailey Bieber, the brand’s logo loafers landed fifth in the ranking.

UGG, a crucial piece to the puzzle that is early-2000s fashion, took over social media in the last quarter of 2023 with highly coveted products worn by the likes of BLACKPINK and Thai actress Prim Chanikarn. The Ugg Tasman Slippers, specifically, took the sixth spot in Lyst’s ranking. This shoe is an ultra-lightweight model, easy to combine with any outfit. Take as an example, NCT 127’s Yuta who has repeatedly flaunted a black pair of Tasman Slippers — gifted to him by fellow member Johnny Suh — on social media.
