By now, the whole world knows of K-pop star Johnny Suh’s penchant for a shirtless fashion moment. The Chicago-born singer has been at the helm of the sans shirt trend for years so if anyone can successfully take the divisive style to Paris Fashion Week, it’s the “shirtless fashion pioneer.”

Sapé Comme Jamais

As proven by his extensive style file, Johnny Suh is never afraid of rewriting dressing rules. It might still be winter in Paris, but the singer ditched the shirt for his latest front-row appearance. Attending Acne Studios’ latest presentation, Johnny stepped out in the Parisian streets clad in an outfit that could be best described as shirtless punk.

Amongst a fashion crowd that included names such as Willow Smith, Eva Chen and Camila Coelho, Johnny stood out decked in a mid-length coat layered over a shirt collar jacket and flare jeans — yes, he also ditched the “Baggy Jeans.” A shirt was intentionally missing from the look, but the ensemble was detail-packed. There were buckle adornments on the sleeves and collar, texture contrast between the coat’s creased fabric and the denim pants and statement silver jewelry that included a dangling earring.

Rockstar Hairstyle

Fit for the front row, Johnny’s beauty routine was equally remarkable. Some could even say he “fact-checked” how to achieve the perfect rocker hair. Tapping into the curtain bang renaissance, the hairstyle flared just at the tips for a messy chic aesthetic with lived-in strands that further pushed the rockstar agenda.

The hairstyling took an edgy turn with a two-toned hair dye — a twist on the ‘90s frosted tips. Skipping the bangs, the bleach went straight to the underside of his head. This addition of sandy blonde color gave the hairstyle a front-row appeal. Insert the Pekaboo highlights trend and Johnny attained a memorable hair look.

Shirtless Pioneer

This isn’t the first time Johnny steals the show at a fashion event with a topless statement. He previously made a case for the shirtless suit at the biggest event of American fashion — the Costume Institute Gala — subsequently earning the title of the most-mentioned celebrity on social media that night. Johnny is also regularly seen shirtless onstage, championing the chest-baring movement that stars such as Harry Styles and Lil Nas X have also embraced.

His most recent appearance is not his first Fashion Week rodeo either. Last year, Johnny made his New York Fashion Week debut at Thom Browne’s Fall Winter 2023 show, where he emerged as one of the most influential celebrities — he amassed $529K of Media Impact Value™ (MIV®) with an Instagram post. According to the leading data company Launchmetrics, Johnny authored the top-performing post related to Thom Browne that season. Launchmetric’s Chief Marketing Officer, Alison Bringé, told EnVi, “NCT [the K-pop group Johnny is part of] has emerged as one of the K-pop star groups seen on numerous front rows and bringing a significant uplift in brand exposure during Fashion Weeks.”

One year later, Johnny continues to harness his fashion influence, expanding his style ventures to the world’s fashion capital and owning sans shirt fashion.
