Doctor on the Edge – June 1
Lee Jae-wookโs new drama Doctor on Edge premiered internationally on Disney+, just weeks after his military enlistment on May 18.
Based on the webtoon โEndurance Doctorโ by Kim Tae-poong, the medical romance follows plastic surgeon Do Ji-ui (Lee), who trades in his camouflage gear for scrubs. After struggling with the grueling military training, Do decides to complete his mandatory service as a public health doctor instead.
He is assigned to the remote island of Pyeongdong, a notoriously unpopular destination. As he deals with around-the-clock emergencies, Do becomes acquainted with Yook Ha-ri (Shin Ye-eun), a local nurse with a mysterious past.
Not Suitable For Work – June 2
Created by award-winning actress Mindy Kaling, the new comedy series Not Suitable For Work offers a look into the turbulent lifestyles of young adults entering the real world. At the center of the narrative are five twenty-somethings (Ella Hunt, Avantika, Will Angus, Jack Martin, and Nicholas Duvernay), who strive for success in their respective career fields. As they navigate work pressures, they face the added struggle of defining their own happiness.
Another World – June 5
Evolving from a fourteen-minute short film into a highly acclaimed feature-length film, Tommy Ng Kai Chungโs Another World will make its theatrical premiere across North America on June 5. Based on the novel โThousand Year Ghostโ by Naka Saijล, the fantasy animation follows Gudo (voiced by Suet-Ying Chung), a Soul Keeper whose primary task is to guide human souls to their next life safely. Upon meeting his next escortee, Yur (voiced by Hiu-Tung Choi)i, she discovers that the young girl harbors deep regret and pent-up rage, making it difficult for her to reincarnate.
Viral Hit – June 11
If youโre a fan of Weak Hero or Study Group, this next pick is for you! Based on the South Korean webtoon of the same name by Tae-jun Pak and Kim Jung-hyun, the upcoming Japanese series Viral Hit centers around high school student Kota Shimura (Ouji Suzuka). Between crushing financial hardships and relentless abuse from his classmates, he doesnโt appear to have much going for him. However, Kotaโs luck begins to turn when one of his daily fights is broadcast on a live stream and goes viral. While navigating his newfound internet fame, Kota begins to discover that the top of the social ladder is no safer than the bottom.
The Furious – June 12
After premiering at the 50th Annual Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in September 2025, the Hong Kong action film The Furious will make its theatrical release on June 12. Directed by Kenji Tanigaki, the narrative follows tradesman Wang Wei (Mo Tse or Miao Xie), who takes on a life of vengeance after his daughter is kidnapped into a trafficking ring. After receiving no help from the local police, Wei teams up with independent journalist Navin (Joe Taslim), whose wife has also disappeared.
Stop! That! Train! – June 12
From Adam Shankman, who has directed films like The Pacifier (2005), Hairspray (2007), and Bedtime Stories (2008), comes another comical adventure to add to your watchlist. Distributed by Bleecker Street, the upcoming film Stop! That! Train! features renowned drag queen RuPaul as part of an ensemble cast.
After transferring from the Stank Rail to the Glamazonian Express, stewardess best friends Tess (Ginger Minj) and DeeDee (JujuBee) find themselves in the midst of disaster. With a powerful โStormaganzaโ threatening to take down the train, the duo, who are relegated to coach, have no choice but to team up with the pretentious first-class staff (Symone, Brooke Lynn Hytes, and Marcia Marcia Marcia) to save the day.
Jinsei – June 12
Ready for another animated pick? Following its world premiere at the 2025 Annecy Film Festival, Ryuya Suzukiโs first feature-length animated film Jinsei (which means โlifeโ in Japanese) will have its nationwide theatrical release on June 12. Written, directed, edited, and hand-drawn by Suzuki, the project took eighteen months to complete.
At the center of the story is an unnamed protagonist (voiced by ACE COOL), who undertakes an arduous, century-long journey. Through varied experiences as an idol, an outcast, a leader, and an oracle, the protagonist navigates fame, isolation, and, ultimately, self-discovery.
Toy Story 5 – June 19
Nearly seven years after the presumed final film of the Toy Story franchise, Pixar Animation returns with Toy Story 5, which is set for a U.S. theatrical release on June 19. Serving as a sequel to Toy Story 4, the upcoming film focuses on the now eight-year-old Bonnieโs (voiced by Scarlett Spears) fixation on her new frog-shaped tablet, Lilypad (voiced by Greta Lee).
Although Jessie (voiced by Joan Cusack) has been leading the toys in Woodyโs (voiced by Tom Hanks) absence, the ensuing tech apocalypse is too much for her to handle alone. After reuniting with the visibly seasoned cowboy, the toys team up to regain Bonnieโs affection.
Girls Like Girls – June 19
Transcending across mediums, Hayley Kiyokoโs coming-of-age story Girls Like Girls is set to make its theatrical debut on June 19. First premiering as a music video in 2015 and then released as a novel in 2023, the narrative centers on a seventeen-year-old Coley (Maya da Costa), who moves to rural Oregon following her motherโs passing. While navigating grief and the unbearable heat of the summer, she crosses paths with Sonya (Myra Molloy), who she immediately falls head over heels for.
AI Girl – June 24
After primarily focusing on creating BL (Boysโ Love) series, Thai production house MeMindY has recently expanded into the GL (Girlsโ Love) genre. In late 2025, MeMindY announced pairings for two original series as part of its production project More Than Her, which aims to spotlight GL stories.
Following the premiere of Love Beyond Dreams in May, a second series, AI Girl, is set to air weekly on June 24 via MeMindYโs official YouTube channel. The sci-fi romance series follows the complicated circumstances that arise when Gen (Myyu Khawisara Singplod) receives a human-like robot in the mail. At first, she has no plans for the robot โ whom she later names Ai (Chanya Amarit Duval) โ to stay in her possession. However, as the pair spend time together, Gen finds herself developing feelings for someone who doesnโt even experience human emotions.
Avatar: The Last Airbender (Season 2) – June 25
Two years after its premiere, the live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender will return with a second season on June 25. Following the intense battle defending the Northern Water Tribe from the Fire Nation, Aang (Gordon Cormier) and his crew, Katara (Kiawentiio) and Sokka (Ian Ousley), set off on another daring venture. To stand a chance against the ensuing battle with the Fire Nation, they head to the Earth Kingdomโs capital city, Ba Sing Se, in hopes of gaining critical military support.
In the midst of their journey, Aang, who now needs to learn earthbending, meets a highly anticipated new cast member: Toph Beifong (Miyako or Miya Cech).
