After a year that served to cement K-pop’s presence in the world of fashion, 2022 has already brought interesting partnerships and new associations between celebrities and fashion brands. As we welcome another month, EnVi looks back at some of the most memorable February campaigns, magazine covers, and fashion editorials featuring K-pop stars.
Jennie Fronts Calvin Klein’s “All Together”
Spring is fast approaching, so naturally, fashion campaigns keep unrolling. With an ambitious concept and featuring over 130 people, the American apparel company, Calvin Klein, unveiled their latest ad campaign. Highlighting community through a diverse group of models and celebrity cameos, “All Together” revisits Calvin Klein’s most popular items. Along with a cast of A-listers that included Solange Knowles, Arlo Parks, and Burna Boy, BLACKPINK’s Jennie lent her image for her second global campaign with the brand. The singer flaunted her effortlessly cool image in a series of stills and a fashion film with up-and-comer Deb Never.
Rosé on the Cover of Dazed Korea
Trust singer and Fashion Icon Rosé to make a fashion statement dressed in Saint Laurent. The BLACKPINK vocalist and Global Ambassador of the French house once again proved her model allure on the cover of DAZED KOREA. The singer appeared on the multi-cover March issue and shared the honor with labelmate LØREN. Dressed head-to-toe in Saint Laurent, Rosé was shown during her “most private” moments in the pictorial. The photoshoot, which took place at the Park Hyatt Hotel in Seoul, was accompanied by an interview where Rosé talked about her friendship with the brand’s Creative Director, Anthony Vaccarello. In addition to this cover, Rosé also posed in all Saint Laurent for the pages of W Korea.
Cha Eunwoo Shines on the Cover of W Korea
On February 13, W Korea revealed the cover stars of its March issue. Continuously proving his fashion prowess, singer, actor, and all-around Burberry Boy, Cha Eunwoo added another milestone to his fashion resumé. Sharing a double cover with actress Bae Doona, the superstar fronted the number dedicated to the overarching theme of “The Universe.” For his pictorial, the idol posed in a selection of Burberry looks as he explored the “borders between reality and imagination.” Needless to say, Eunwoo took Burberry’s mix of tailoring and casualwear to the next level.
Doyoung Partners With Alexander McQueen for GQ Korea
It is not a secret that NCT’s Doyoung is a rising actor and fashion influencer of sorts. But beyond the star’s Instagrammable looks, he has steadily carved a place for himself in the world of luxury fashion. Following a busy start of the year, the singer and actor partnered with GQ Korea and Alexander McQueen for a fashion editorial. The idol showed off his great physique while modeling the British brand’s Spring-Sumer 2022 Collection. Suiting up with some of the most iconic looks for the upcoming season, Doyoung caused havoc among fans with his outstanding looks. The photoshoot was accompanied by a mysterious fashion film where the star proved beyond any doubt that he was born to be under the spotlight. In addition to the exciting partnership between the singer and GQ Korea, Doyoung participated in the OST of the drama Soundtrack #1 and confirmed his impending return to the small screen. In the words of die-hard fans of the star, “Doyoung is the moment.”
TOMORROW X TOGETHER Grace Elle Man
Undoubtedly one of the groups on the rise, TOMORROW X TOGETHER continues “running in their own direction.” To celebrate their third anniversary—coming up on March 4—the group was invited to front the first Elle Men supplement on the Korean edition of the magazine. The group posed in a relaxed editorial, clad in the best of menswear for the Spring season. Among others, the five-member group modeled pieces from CELINE HOMME, Moncler, Bottega Veneta, Saint Laurent, and Valentino. In the accompanying interview, Soobin, Yeonjun, Beomgyu, Taehyun, and HueningKai talked about their personal experiences, teamwork, and growth as a group.
Yuta Fronts Numéro TOKYO
NCT’s Yuta is undoubtedly a force to be reckoned with when it comes to fashion. Not only does the singer stand out as one of K-pop’s coolest celebs, but he has also earned a spot on specialized fashion media. Whether he is on the cover of popular magazines or starring in fashion and beauty campaigns, Yuta is guaranteed to make an impression. This was particularly true in February when he was announced as the cover star of Numéro TOKYO’s April issue. The star, who flaunts the title of most-followed Japanese male celebrity on Instagram, sent fans into a total fashion frenzy when stills of the photoshoot were published. As one might expect, Yuta rocked some of the most coveted fashion brands and seasonal trends. What can we say? Yuta is a total Fashion Boy.
Lisa Is the Star of CELINE’s Haute Parfumerie Campaign
Last year it was reported that BLACKPINK’s Lisa was appointed as the official face of CELINE’s first fragrance campaign. Wait no longer. On February 10, the French brand unveiled the full video campaign. Directed by Hedi Slimane, Creative Director of the fashion house, the clip shows closeups of Lisa posing against luxurious backgrounds. With The Velvet Underground’s “Pale Blue Eyes” playing as a soundtrack, the video is an ode to elegance and sophistication. It also marks Lisa’s first international campaign this year and adds a new achievement to her long list of fashion conquests.
