Fearless girl group LE SSERAFIM has returned with their first English digital single “Perfect Night.” On October 22, the quintet released a lively track that sent the energetic message that even a not-so-perfect day can be fun when you spend it with your crew. In “Perfect Night,” LE SSERAFIM members Chaewon, Sakura, Yunjin, Kazuha, and Eunchae cheerfully sing about how nothing matters when they’re together.

We Don’t Care for What’s Wrong or Right

“Perfect Night” is a song connected to the story portrayed in the group’s previous records. LE SSERAFIM’s first full-length album, UNFORGIVEN, posed as the group’s declaration of pioneering their own path without any inhibitions. In the album’s final track, “Fire in the belly,” LE SSERAFIM announced the beginning of their full-fledged journey. Now, the group delivers an awaited story of friendship through “Perfect Night.”

With “Perfect Night,” LE SSERAFIM showcases a side to their music that fans usually only witness in B-side songs. In contrast to the group’s explosive title tracks, this song boasts an upbeat yet mellow instrumental that comprises a clean guitar and soft percussion. Participating in the song production, LE SSERAFIM member Yunjin participated in the songwriting process alongside executive producer Bang Si-hyuk. “Perfect Night” adopts an electric sound with the song’s 2-step garage genre featuring an addictive guitar riff.

The special combination of live action and animation encapsulates both LE SSERAFIM’s charms and Overwatch’s heroes’ free-spirited energy. The visually rich video presents bright colored digital 3D graphics, bringing to mind a futuristic cyber world. “Perfect Night” opens with LE SSERAFIM in a dance studio, practicing choreography ahead of a big concert — a scene that resembles shots from LE SSERAFIM’s debut music video “FEARLESS.” Contrary to the group’s typically fiery choreography, the “Perfect Night” performance captures softer, more laid-back movements, with the key point being a step that mimics a driving motion.

Meanwhile, Overwatch heroes D.Va, Brigitte, Kiriko, Tracer, and Sombra make their way to LE SSERAFIM’s concert hall in their own personal “FEARNOT” fan gear. Contrary to the single’s title, the night in the background of the video is far from perfect — the four heroes get stuck in a traffic jam, and only after arriving at the venue do they realize that they left their concert tickets at home.

Behind the Looks

GRIESSMÜHLE, formerly La Cage, is the brand responsible for the styling in this release. Having worked with both BLACKPINK and fromis_9 in the past, the label is no stranger to the K-pop scene. LE SSERAFIM’s custom-made outfits seamlessly meld elements of racercore and balletcore, two of the year’s hottest trends. The almost oxymoronic use of fitted pastel pink leather and knee-high platform boots conveys a feeling of both unabashed femininity and unwavering strength.

LE SSERAFIM’s partnership with Overwatch 2 is brought to life by the Tokki WP tinted sunglasses from the Gentle Monster x Overwatch 2 collaboration collection. Fans will recognize this headpiece, worn by the members throughout the music video, from LE SSERAFIM’s personal Instagram accounts. The girls were gifted this exclusive accessory, which is a recreation of Overwatch hero D.Va’s signature headgear in Gentle Monster’s style, late in the summer, and shared pictures with their unsuspecting followers.

Feel the Magic of LE SSERAFIM and Overwatch 2

Set in the optimistic future, Overwatch 2 is a free-to-play, team-based action game developed by Blizzard Entertainment. Whether they wish to play as a cybernetic hero, a beat-dropping battlefield DJ, or any of the 38 unique heroes, players around the globe can determine their team’s fate in an ultimate 5v5 battlefield brawl.

Serving as the game’s first-ever in-game musical artist collaboration, LE SSERAFIM paid homage to the critically acclaimed hero shooter with individual member concept photos and track sampler visuals. Showcasing both charms and video game references, the various teasers contained futuristic 3D graphics reflecting the heroes’ abilities and in-game content such as maps, fashion, and characters.

Throughout the music video, fans of Overwatch will note the multiple references to the game: Kiriko uses her ultimate ability, Kitsune Rush, to accelerate the car’s movement; D.Va uses her state-of-the-art mech, Tokki, to help carry and fly the car to the concert hall; Tracer uses her recall ability to travel back in time and retrieve the missing concert tickets; and Sombra beats the traffic jam by using her hacking ability to manipulate traffic lights. In-game locations and items also make cameos throughout the music video.

No Better Feeling In the Whole Wide World

With this harmonic collaboration, Blizzard will unveil a LE SSERAFIM-inspired game mode and exclusive in-game items for the game’s seventh season. As of now, Overwatch have officially released a first look on upcoming legendary hero skins for heroes D.Va, Brigitte, Kiriko, Tracer, and Sombra. The group will also make an appearance at the global game festival Blizzcon on November 4. Located in the Anaheim Convention Center, a special performance celebrating “Perfect Night” will bring an end to the community night.
