September is finally here, and so is a brand new Sunday Spin! Slip into the new fall season with a fresh lineup of songs bringing a mix of infectious rhythms and late-summer energy. From across the globe, this week’s picks are the perfect soundtrack for welcoming September in EnVi style.
TEN – “OUTWEST”
TEN is back and ready to show his electrifying expertise with “OUTWEST.” The track blends different musical textures, balancing high-energy techno EDM with swaggy hip-hop beats. Pulsating rhythms surround TEN’s sultry vocals as he embraces the thrill of meeting someone new and letting the night unfold. Lyrically, the singer leans into the glamorous allure of the West Coast with Hollywood nights and spontaneous rendezvous. His sleek yet confident delivery captures the excitement of flirting and running on straight adrenaline.
Released alongside “IRL” as part of his first music project with his new label, ILLIMNT, TEN showcases a new side of his artistry. The music video for “OUTWEST” features TEN in muted neutral tones, then explodes with high-power choreography. From writing to overseeing the whole project, TEN is taking control of his creative direction, moving effortlessly between genres with a distinct sound. “OUTWEST” is the perfect introduction to his new, bold era, with its carefree, unapologetically stylish sound.
ADÉLA – “Nicole Kidman”
It seems that ADÉLA has temporarily replaced Nicole Kidman in our AMC movie previews! Rising pop star ADÉLA is back with her newest single, “Nicole Kidman,” alongside her highly anticipated full-length album, PRIMA. Paying homage to the Oscar-winning actress, the track takes a different direction from her previously released singles. Bolder, sultrier, and nevertheless confident, “Nicole Kidman” is all about the glamorous Hollywood life and its perks. Singing, “Live vicariously through me, write my life like it’s a movie,” and referencing some of Nicole Kidman’s biggest movie projects, such as Babygirl and Moulin Rouge!, the track maintains its charm through shimmering synths and a blend of R&B and alternative pop. With a sample reminiscent of Kanye West’s “Bound 2” playing throughout, alongside subtle ad-libs and ADÉLA’s alluring vocals, “Nicole Kidman” stands out as one of the highlight tracks on PRIMA.
Fresh off the Lollapalooza stage in Chicago and serving as the main opener for Demi Lovato’s “It’s Not That Deep Tour,” ADÉLA is ready to headline and bring audiences into her world. As she heads across the globe on her “Red Bottoms Tour,” you might catch her in a city near you, or perhaps even during your next movie theater visit.
LISA – “SaWaDiKa”
Thai icon LISA is giving us a bass-boomed hello with her newest release, “SaWaDiKA.” Titled after the Thai greeting for “hello,” the single serves as a reintroduction to the pop princess’s hip-hop roots. Her signature confident rap flow is paired with hard-hitting beats, wasting no time reminding her audience of her superstar status. Flexing her lavish lifestyle, she proudly proclaims herself “La Lalisa, la diva,” and “that b-tch on your TV.”
While “SaWaDiKa” is all about swagger from start to finish, LISA also pays homage to her Bangkok roots between sharp verses and the catchy, chant-like hook. Throughout the track, she shouts out the city, incorporating references to tuk-tuks, bahts, and her day ones. The accompanying music video brings her hometown shout-outs to life. Dressed in lavish styles, LISA shows off her high-fashion style and powerful dance moves, commanding attention from start to finish. As a sneak peek of her upcoming PRESS PLAY EP, “SaWaDiKa” is no longer a simple introduction of herself to the world, but a reminder of the eye-catching star power she possesses.
PIAO, Stephanie Poetri – “MP3 SUMMER”
Wishing this summer was as fun and colorful as it was a decade ago? PIAO and Stephanie Poetri are reviving 2016 nostalgia in their latest collaboration, “MP3 SUMMER.” From a soft instrumental buildup into a hyperpop beat, the pair prove that this summer’s party isn’t over yet. The duo embody summer’s joy and whimsy in every aspect of the music video. Joined by friends on the beach and boardwalk, PIAO and Stephanie Poetri have fun blowing bubbles and dancing. Notably, there is a lack of digital technology present, as the group chooses to enjoy each other’s present company.
Still, more lies behind the purple-tinted filters and bright neon clothes, and it carries significance from 2016. Reflecting on a decade of change, both women see the stress of adulthood versus the carefree nature of teenagehood. Rather than wallow in the sorrows of the present, the pair invite listeners to join them as they reminisce in the prechorus, “Yeah, maybe / If time saves me / Come with me.” PIAO and Stephanie Poetri’s takeaway from 2016 is to carry their excitement for everything. From big decisions like tattoos to the simple pleasures of taking off your shoes, these women are basking in it all.

CIFIKA – “HEX”
Ten years into her career, CIFIKA is reconnecting with herself and her artistry through her most personal project yet, Old Fantasy. Written and produced by CIFIKA herself, the project feels more intimate, bringing together the influences she has encountered throughout her career into one special project. In a press statement, she described the project as feeling like “thirty people singing through one person.” The EP shares a new, vulnerable side of CIFIKA, transforming memories and personal experiences into a story where each track carries its own meaning.
Among the tracks on the EP, “HEX” seems to bewitch us just like its title. Exploring heartbreak and the wounds left behind by past love, the track uses the imagery of a special gemstone whose six lines form a star, comparing those divinely created lines to the scars left by heartbreak. The track’s meaningful lyrics pair beautifully with its airy vocals and conversational-like narration. Accompanied by piano and string instruments, “HEX” feels haunting yet deeply connected.
Elyanna – “BOSA”
Coming in hot, heavy, and spicy is Elyanna’s “BOSA.” The Palestinian-Chilean singer-songwriter is keeping the summer heat alive with this new sultry, explosive track to ease us into the new fall season. Known for weaving her cultural influences into her music, Elyanna once again wholly bridges her worlds with “BOSA,” blending hypnotic Arab-pop with vibrant Latin rhythms. Elyanna’s alluring vocals tie the fiery cross-cultural fusion together. Underneath its seductive exterior, “BOSA” plays with traditional gender roles. Through a repeated chant, Elyanna turns the familiar pickup line “Give me a kiss, what’s the harm?” into a bold declaration of female agency. Rather than waiting to be pursued, Elyanna takes the lead in this bravado track, unapologetically declaring what she wants.
The music video is also full of feminine power as Elyanna moves through a prison environment carefree and fully in control. Surrounded by concrete walls and rigid guards, she transforms the space into her own playground. Like the essence of “BOSA,” Elyanna reverses the traditionally restrictive setting into a backdrop for freedom, confidence, and self-expression.
Aruma – “Jalan Buntu”
Entering the final quarter of this year, you might feel burnt out from appealing to others. In the two years since releasing her last album, Aruma reflected on her time spent conforming as an artist. “Jalan Buntu,” the lead track off of her new EP, Dan Ternyata Aku Cukup, reveals a new side of vulnerability in her discography. Translating to “dead end,” the song expresses the dilemma of developing romantic feelings but not wanting to lose a friendship by confessing. Aruma knows she has to choose: lose herself by hiding her heart or lose a friend by telling the truth. She doesn’t know where to turn, not confident in either option. Instead, Aruma chooses to wait before she makes a move.
In a press release, Aruma discussed her plan to spread hope through each track of Dan Ternyata Aku Cukup. “I also just want to say that it’s okay if the process takes a long time, and if today you still feel confused, haven’t healed, or don’t know where to go,” she reassured. “I hope that after listening to this EP, you can also reach a point where you can say to yourself: ‘and it turns out, I am enough.’”
uwase – “9 to 5”
Not all people are built to thrive in an office environment, and uwase is unashamedly one of them. Dreaming of a life beyond the typical “9 to 5,” this indie rock track discusses what it means to be the outlier in an office. Uwase relays the conversation between her and an older woman at work. When describing her dissatisfaction with her role, uwase was met with disappointment from the older woman who cannot understand her. “I shouldn’t have to / Prove myself to you,” she says to her. “Sorry I don’t long for the same / 9 to 5, to stay alive.”
As shown by the dual personas uwase takes on in the music video, work is draining. When uwase appears dressed in green, strumming her guitar, and acting playfully with her surroundings, is when she is seen as her happiest. Her identity as an artist is what brings her the most joy, and she reminds us to find that within ourselves as well. With an easy dance to follow, uwase declares in the chorus, “Oh no / She don’t / Long for a life with a 9 to 5.” You can funnel your work-related frustrations into fun as you sing along, regardless of whether you’re working your “9 to 5,” or not.
Rebecca Black – “Miss Delicious”
Grab your lip gloss, call a few friends, and get ready for the dance floor! Singer-songwriter and DJ Rebecca Black is back with her second full-length studio album, Age of the Exhibitionist, consisting of 12 tracks and four previously released singles. “Miss Delicious,” the album’s fifth track, seems to climb its way to number one. A hyper-pop, club-ready track that’s loud, energetic, and sexy, the song embraces distorted vocals and a repetitive hook that feels reminiscent of an early 2000s track, delivering a message of self-confidence and sexual empowerment. Rebecca sings, “Y-U-M-M-Y, don’t you go home with me tonight? / Don’t gotta lie, I’m your favorite.”
A fun track that feels made for the dance floor, “Miss Delicious” is a playful invitation to let loose and bring out a cheekier side of yourself. Heading on the road for the rest of the year, you can catch Miss Delicious in a city near you at the “Exhibitionism” tour.
