Video game developer Riot Games has joined Fortiche, Melcher Media and Insight Editions for a collaborative book. As announced on July 22, The Art and Making of Arcane will be a collection of original art and behind-the-scenes creative of the Emmy Award-winning Arcane (2021).

What We Know

The Art and Making of Arcane, written by New York-based journalist Elisabeth Vincentelli, details the process of creating the show. The book includes brand-new art from both seasons of Arcane, early character designs and renditions of background and setting art.

Another part of the book is series of exciting, informative interviews with show contributors. The interview roster includes Arcane co-creators Christian Linke and Alex Yee, the studio heads of Fortiche and supervising directors Pascal Charrue and Arnaud Delord. Plus, fans of the show can hear about the creative process directly from over 20 key animators, writers, directors, artists, game designers and musicians.

the Standard & Portfolio Editions

The project will be published in three unique editions, all of which will include freebies: a Jinx poster, a removable map of Piltover, an in-world blueprint, a Vender letter and a fold-out spread with show content, among other things. The Standard Edition is a simple package that includes the book in a pink colorway. Meanwhile, the Portfolio and Artifact Editions include exclusive bonus items. The Portfolio Edition includes unique green cover art, an Arcane tarot card, an eight-page Progress Day booklet, a hardbound portfolio with four production art form prints and an Arcane vinyl album.

The Artifact Edition is the most colorful and robust bundle. It includes polyresin bookend statues of Vi and Jinx, two posters, three blueprints, the eight-page Progress Day booklet, all four Arcane tarot cards, the Arcane vinyl album and six art prints. Additionally, the Artifact Edition includes a signature card with autographs from Christian Linke, Alex Yee, Arnaud Delord, Bart Maunoury, Jérôme Combe, and Pascal Charrue, and individually numbered 1-1,000. Even more, forty of the 1,000 copies of the Artifact Edition have been deemed Jinxed Editions. These copies have been given the signature Jinx treatment.

Fans of Arcane have a while to wait before the book’s release — five months, to be exact. With a December 31 expected publishing date, the release will commemorate the end of an eventful year for Riot Games.
