As autumn transitions into winter and the holiday season approaches, UGG continues its fast return to the fashion limelight. Celebrities like Bella Hadid, BLACKPINK’s Lisa and Hillary Duff have maintained UGG footwear as a winter closet staple for the past few years, inspiring mixed reactions from fashion fanatics. Despite the divisive opinions, the iconic boot is making a full-fledged comeback this year. Read ahead for a recap of UGG’s key styles in 2023 and a guide to style them this winter.
The Collabs
As do many brands, UGG has an arsenal of celebrity partners to bring their best products to life. This year has been especially fruitful for the Australian-founded brand, which secured official partnerships with brands and cultural icons alike. Notably, UGG has dropped collections with Telfar and Feng Chen Wang and even released a kids line with Sesame Street.
In October, Cardi B and Offset joined UGG in New York to commemorate the launch of the brand’s Uggextreme collection ahead of winter. The couple made their appearance dressed in UGG-approved ensembles featuring neutral color palettes, layers, and, of course, the latest UGG shoes.
How To Style UGGs According to K-pop’s Divas
UGG tapped K-pop star Soyeon (member of (G)I-DLE) to represent the brand as an ambassador in May 2023 and she has since sported different products. Recently, Soyeon dressed up in winter-ready, comfy UGG gear to promote the Classic Sweater Letter and the Classic Chillapeak. To complete her snug look, Soyeon wore the Marlene UGGfluff Jacket Heritage Braid — because yes, UGG does carry plush, warm products aside from footwear.
The Classic Sweater Letter is a leg warmer and platform boot hybrid, playing on a key element of the popular balletcore aesthetic. Soyeon opted for neutral tones to complement the UGG brand colors, showing how the boot can add an eye-catching element to a dressed-down and comfortable look. Meanwhile, fellow K-pop idol Ningning of aespa took a different approach in an Instagram Reel. The singer took the balletcore route and paired the boots with a cropped black cardigan layered over a crop top of the same color and a frilly black mini skirt.
Similarly, the Classic Chillapeak, fully lined with the signature UGGplush™ wool, is another winter-friendly platform boot. The base for Soyeon’s promotional look for this boot was a streetwear-inspired lounge set. She accessorized with a deep brown puffer vest that matched the Classic Chillapeak’s Burnt Cedar colorway.
Lined in the UGGplush™ upcycled wool, this winter-friendly platform shoe is a take on the Classic Boot, crafted from renewable sugarcane.
A Lesson on Wearing Tazzlita Slippers
Just like Soyeon and Ningning, other influential celebrities are fueling the UGG revival in their off-duty looks. BLACKPINK’s Jisoo, actress Lily Chee, and K-pop singer Heejin are just some of the stars who have been wearing the cozy staple.
Among the many UGG models, a popular style is the Women’s Tazzlita, wool-lined platform slippers appropriate for both in-home and going-out looks. How to wear them? BLACKPINK member, Jisoo, and volleyball player Natalia Bryant have some cues.
On October 28, Jisoo uploaded a series of photos to her personal Instagram, wearing the Tazzlita slippers. The idol’s outfit was fittingly lowkey — an all Alo ensemble that comprised a hoodie and skort — but the UGG footwear elevated it effortlessly. Meanwhile, Natalia Bryant sported the slippers in a UGG promotional campaign. The athlete paired her Tazzlita slippers with a long teddy coat and minimalistic accessories, going for a more dressed-up approach.
The Classics
In October, Ariana Grande shared an intimate carousel of photos of her recent autumnal activities. The opening slide shows what looks like the Classic Mini Platforms peeking out from under the singer’s The Row Francine Coat. The mini platforms mimic the familiar silhouette of UGG’s Classic Short Boot but feature a shorter shaft. While Grande paired the minis with a full coat, Portuguese model Sara Sampaio once showed that these shoes can also be worn in the summer.
Model Taylor Hill took a different approach to styling her UGGs, elevating the Classic Dipper with a sleeveless, belted knit dress and tights. Laura Harrier followed suit, pairing a laid-back outfit with a statement trench coat and sunglasses to center all the attention on her Classic Dipper boots. Unlike the Classic Short Boot, which has a somewhat relaxed fit, the Classic Dipper is designed to hug the calves so as to not interfere with hemlines on longer pants, making this model one of the preferred UGG styles among celebs.
Described as the ultimate autumnal slay, the Classic Dipper features a calf-hugging neoprene shaft and a height-boosting platform that will upgrade any look.
The Best Sellers
In addition to the models described above, UGG also flaunts a selection of best-selling designs such as the Classic Ultra Mini Platform Boot, the Tasman Slipper and the Classic Short II Boot. Check out some of these popular pairs and other UGG deals below.
UGG’s recent resurgence in popularity is a testament to the brand’s evergreen designs. Through years of changing trends and fleeting fads, the brand still attracts unwavering dedication and loyalty to its cozy and comfortable offerings. The start of winter brings low temperatures and grey skies, making for the perfect excuse to add a pair of UGGs to your shopping cart.
