THE RECAP: JUNNY Brought Every Note to Life at His LA Performance
Four years after his “blanc” tour, Canadian-Korean R&B and pop artist JUNNY returned to North America with his sold-out “[null]” tour. This tour marked a new chapter following the release of his second full-length album, null. On March 1, JUNNY’s fans — collectively known as JUNNIVERSE — filled the historic El Rey Theater in Los Angeles, eager and ready to immerse themselves in the singer-songwriter’s versatile setlist and vocals.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES
If you are looking for an artist who seamlessly blends sensuality, romanticism, and layered emotions, JUNNY’s shows are the place to be.
Sultry Opening: The moment JUNNY stepped on the stage and the lights fell on him, the theater roared with excitement as he kicked off the night with songs like “Passion, Pain & Pleasure,” “SOUR,” “Energy,” “AURA,” “TASTE,” and “Color Me.” During “Provider,” fans even started the first part of the song before JUNNY joined in, setting the tone for the many engaging moments of audience participation that followed that night. Throughout this opening set, JUNNY’s dynamic stage presence shone through as he blended his silky vocals with confident and sultry choreography.
Thank Yous, Exes, and Nostalgia: After a quick water break, JUNNY shifted the atmosphere to a more melancholic tone with performances of “Thank You” and “By My Side,” taking a moment to express his gratitude to fans for their continued support. However, there was one person he cheekily admitted he wouldn’t be thanking, his ex-girlfriend. With that playful remark, he transitioned into “Not About You,” a track about moving on from a past relationship. To lift the mood back up, he then sings “MOVIE,” a lively track that captures the cinematic feel of romance.

Rap to Techno: JUNNY doesn’t stay boxed into a single musical direction. From his performance of “POV,” a guitar-driven, introspective track he shared, reflecting on his life in Canada, to the temptation-filled track “Dangerous,” JUNNY demonstrated his ability to showcase multiple sides of his artistry. His versatility was emphasized with his rap-heavy performances of “RUSH (ft. BOBBY)” and “Optimist (ft. Blase),” where he confidently blended his vocals with covering the rap verses. Transitioning from rap-forward tracks to electronic, club-like energy, JUNNY launched into “Here We Go Again,” prompting fans to jump up and down while singing the chorus. The audience’s energy reached what felt like the loudest moment of the night when JUNNY moved into “INVITATION,” a fitting (no pun intended) invitation for JUNNIVERSE to continue singing along with even greater enthusiasm.
A Pause: As the show moved into its final songs, JUNNY took a moment to sing “Happy Birthday” to a few March-born fans in the audience. The moment turned playful when some JUNNIVERSE jokingly claimed it was their birthdays too, drawing some confusion but amusement from JUNNY on what was going on. Before continuing the set, he also gave a shoutout to his accompanying DJ and producer DAUL, who acted as producer on the null album.
The Longest Song and Ending: As the night drew to a close, JUNNY performed “Weight of Time,” a seven-minute, heartfelt and contemplative track that showcased his emotional depth and vocal range. The reflective tone carried into “figure8,” where JUNNY invited fans to raise their phone lights, creating a sea of swaying lights. The evening ultimately ended on a high-energy note with an encore of “INVITATION,” sending the crowd out on a memorable high.

VERDICT
JUNNY’s tour title might suggest emptiness, but his performance was anything but “null.” From start to finish, his magnetic stage presence and versatility, not only in his vocals but also in the range of tones across his setlist, kept the audience engaged and captivated. This tour serves as a reminder of JUNNY’s ability to be an all-rounder.
