Thai entertainment powerhouse GMMTV unveiled the 2027 lineup of their upcoming dramas, and fans have a lot to look forward to. The production company announced 37 new productions on November 3 during their GMMTV NEXT: GENERATION HAPPY press conference at the Union Mall in Bangkok, led by CEO Tha Sataporn Panichraksapong. As pioneers of the Boy’s Love (BL) and more recently Girl’s Love (GL) genres, GMMTV offers a variety of stories this year. From workplace dramas and coming-of-age romance to fantasy and romcoms, there’s sure to be a little something for everyone in GMMTV’s next generation.

Adaptations Front and Center

Some big — and likely familiar — names took up the spotlight with GMMTV’s upcoming ensemble shows. The six-time Tony award-winning Broadway musical Dear Evan Hansen gets a Thai remake featuring William Jakrapatr from T-pop group LYKN as the titular character. GMMTV’s production of Dear Evan Hansen will be directed by Paspawisa Jewpattanagul, and performed in 12 languages across 18 countries.

The adaptations continue with director Nat Thachai Komolpech’s Pie and the 7 Witches, a chaotic, body-swapping romantic comedy based on the manga Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches by Miki Yoshikawa. Fourth Nattawat stars as school delinquent Pie as he becomes entangled in body-swapping magic at his school — triggered by accidentally kissing top student Meen, played by Mim Rattanawadee. Hijinks ensue as the story begins to unravel, revealing witchcraft and secrets beyond belief. The large ensemble cast includes Satang Kittiphop, Aun Napat, Benz Jittanan, Chari Charisar, Lana Nalada, Mook Chayada, Mata Pattariyakorn, and Luke Peemsan.

Avid K-drama watchers will recognize the name Itaewon Class. This remake of the popular 2020 K-drama sets the scene in Thai society instead of Seoul’s bustling Itaewon neighborhood. The show is currently under the working title Itaewon Class: Thai Edition and is directed by Aof Noppharnach Chaiyahwimhon. Sky Wongravee stars alongside Nycha Nuttanicha, Film Rachanun, Jimmy Jitaraphol, Mark Pakin, Surf Patchara, and Nok Sinjai. While there’s no set air date, fans can expect a thrilling, emotional story between the all-star cast and Aof’s creative vision.

Itaewon Class is not the only K-drama adaptation in the lineup. Based on the original Korean series, Sh**ting Stars, the Thai remake features Gemini Norawit and Tu Tontawan as a star-studded celebrity and PR professional wrestling for control amidst the chaotic entertainment industry. They’re joined by Gawin Caskey, Neo Trai, Singha Luangsuntorn, Kapook Ploynira, Samantha Melanie Coates, Ken Kanthee, and more under the direction of Oat Vatanyu Ingkavivat.

Top BL Picks

Eight BL heavy-hitters star in The HALO, a modern fantasy series about four cursed angels and their human lovers — the only ones who can save them. Gemini Norawit, William Jakrapatr, Perth Tanapon, and Pond Naravit play four angels cursed to suffer cruel fates on earth. They each stumble across four humans — Fourth Nattawat, Est Supha, Santa Pongsapak, and Phuwin Tangsakyuen — who are blessed with gifts relating to the five senses. These divine gifts are the key to unraveling the mystery of the curse. The HALO unites four powerhouse BL couples on screen and is directed by Waa Waasuthep Ketpetch.

GMMTV never forgets to bring in a lighthearted high-school romcom. Love After Class, directed by New Siwaj Sawatmaneekul, highlights the next generation of BL actors with Progress Passawish and Almond Poomsuwan as high-schoolers Third and Pope. Happy-go-lucky Third runs as student body president to impress his crush, but he must sway the studious Pope to his team in order to win. As he attempts to bring Pope in, the two begin to develop a relationship that goes beyond student body candidacy. They are joined by an ensemble cast including Keaton Sitthithat, Tor Phakawat, and more.

One of the most highly anticipated trailers in this year’s lineup is Pineapple Leaf Blade, directed by Nuchy Anucha Boonyawatana. Tay Tawan and New Thitipoom star as two Thai laborers in Hawaii circa 2004. Amid the struggle and hardships of their day-to-day work, they begin to grapple with burgeoning feelings and hopes for a better tomorrow. Pineapple Leaf Blade is based on the true stories of Thai migrant workers during the mid-2000’s and the working conditions they suffered through.

New GL Stories

Workplace romance takes a refreshing break from the office building in Safety Flirt, a sweet romcom that finds a darling secretary crossing paths with an engineering genius on the factory floor. Prim Chanikarn plays Jira, an easily-frustrated secretary who struggles to find her place among her coworkers until top engineer Suki, played by Nycha Nuttanicha, changes her outlook on the job. Equal parts sweet and silly, Safety Flirt is directed by Seh Thanaporn Phetcharas and is sure to delight viewers looking for some tooth-rottingly sweet romance.

In contrast, Love’s Echoes tells a story of two best friends with the same dream who are separated by a sudden diagnosis. Clara and New both promise to debut together as an idol duo, but when New is diagnosed with a brain tumor and hearing loss, the two unexpectedly part ways. Ten years later, their paths cross again, forcing them both to deal with the unresolved feelings surrounding their separation. Mewnich Nannaphas and Jaoying Krongkwan bring the bittersweet love to the screen under the direction of Pear Rattanathorn Kritsanamontri.

Melancholy slice-of-life has never been stronger than in Kiss me, Stranger, directed by Claire Jirassaya Wongsutin (director of Flat Girls). Pahn Patthita and Frond Natticha star as two women from different walks of life, brought together by a simple twist of fate — a phone number one digit off. As the two strangers’ lives begin to intertwine, they reveal the gritty reality of love, grief, and what it means to be human.

Studio Collaborations and Fandom Characters

GMMTV’s upcoming work isn’t limited to single-studio productions. The official teaser announcement of VAMP: ETERNAL DESTINY created a massive buzz for fans waiting since the first pilot trailer dropped two years ago. VAMP: ETERNAL DESTINY is a collaborative production between GMMTV and MDA Entertainment, founded by actor and singer Mike Angelo. The supernatural action series stars Mike Angelo and Prim Chanikarn in a world of vampires and hunters, promising action, romance, and blood galore.

Although it was teased in last year’s GMMTV 2026 lineup, HiGH & LOW Born to be High also made an appearance at GMMTV NEXT with a new teaser trailer. Tokyo-based entertainment partnership HI-AX joined with GMMTV to produce this Thai installment of the hit Japanese multimedia series, HiGH & LOW. The highly-anticipated action series brings together an impressive ensemble of veteran GMMTV actors as members of warring gang members in a city divided by factions. Although there is no set air date, fans will want to keep an eye out for this high-octane release.

Alongside new trailers, GMMTV had a few more announcements to make at the GENERATION HAPPY press conference. GMMTV recently welcomed Studio Wabi Sabi (Until We Meet Again, Love By Chance) into the production company as a subsidiary, instead of a complete acquisition. This followed a number of Wabi Sabi actors signing with GMMTV over the past few years, such as Boun Noppanut, Prem Warut, Ohm Thitiwat, and Santa Pongsapak.

The GMMTV family expanded even further over the last couple of years with the introduction of fandom character mascots for various pairings. This year, GMMTV takes it to the next level with the GEMM QUEST Trading Card Game for the beloved mascots. This collectible card game is set to begin pre-orders in December 2026 for six limited edition characters — POLCASAN, KING MAN, BABII, LOOK KHUNNOO, PERMPOON, and LUNAR. Additional collectibles and gameplay will begin in April 2027.

These are just a taste of what’s in store for GMMTV NEXT: GENERATION HAPPY. The full lineup brings a diverse set of productions to life, ready to reach audiences all over the world. With GMMTV spearheading the movement to bring Thai entertainment to the global stage, fans can expect new laughs, new heartbreaks, and new stories to fall for with every new release.
