Who is your favorite K-pop group/artist? Who is your bias?

NCT / SuperM, and I don’t have a bias.

What is your favorite concept that your favorite artist/group has done?

NCT 2018 Empathy album that contains many different concepts all in one album.

What kind of concept do you wish to see your favorite artist/group try? Give us a little detail on how the music would sound, how the music video and teasers would look, what kind of outfits they would wear to match the music.

The music would be similar to “Back 2 U (AM 01:27)” or “Mad City.” The music video would be based on the members’ preferences (but matches with the music), or with dramatic wind scenes and scenes outside such as abandoned buildings and sparkles. The outfits would be something like streetwear, or let Taeyong do the styling since he does a lot of customization.

If you can add one sound into a K-pop song, what would it be and why?

I would like to hear more songs like “Sticker,” “Next Level,” and “LALISA” because they aren’t regular, and it feels refreshing to not have a predictable song. I would add instrumentals like the flute in “Sticker,” the whistle in “Favorite (Vampire),” and the intro in “LALISA.”

If you can pick 3 artists to collaborate for a song, which 3 artists would you choose and why?

KARD, A.C.E, and NCT U (Taeyong, Ten, Mark, Hendery, Renjun, Jaehyun, Doyoung). I think the voices of BM and J.seph would match well with Wow, Hendery, Taeyong and Mark / Jiwoo and Ten, Jaehyun, Byeongkwan, Renjun / Somin and Doyoung, Chan, Renjun.

Magical realism. The music would be R&B/soul music, and the music video would consist of a lot of worldbuilding.

Who is your favorite K-pop group/artist? Who is your bias?

SEVENTEEN/NCT.

What Is your favorite concept that your favorite artist/group had done?

SEVENTEEN: “HOME;RUN.” NCT: “90’s Love.”

For SEVENTEEN: acoustic!!! Give them a box drum and an acoustic guitar and let the boys go. I think a cowboy theme for this would be great; not in the outlaw/bad boy sense, but moving the herds, where you’re out in the wilderness for a week with just your buddies and your horses, lots of cattle, and of course the most beautiful landscape you’ve ever seen. All smiles, drinking around the fire and singing love songs and folk music. DK deserves his country moment.

For NCT: groove/R&B. Bruno Mars and Silk Sonic, Ari Lennox, SZA, Jacob Banks, and Victoria Monét. Almost moving into soul/funk territory. For the concept, I’m thinking retro in a Soul Train way – actual disco, with open chest vests and the go-go boots and everything. A hazy, dim nightclub with everyone just vibing.

If you can add one sound into a K-pop song, what would it be and why?

Slack-key guitar. It’s a Hawaiian form of playing the guitar that comes from a mix of Spanish and Latin American styles of music, that is just so cool and lovely and fits everywhere. The style of playing is so rich, full of tone and life. “Ka Uluwehi O Ke Kai” by HAPA is a great song to hear slack-key in.

I’m a fourth-generation K-pop fan, so I really just want the artists to come together, and have the writers write, and the dancers dance, and just see what happens. I just think having three groups with members who are a) already friends, b) partially (or totally) self-composing music, and c) kind of producing similar music would be great.

GOT7 and my bias is Mark!

What is your favorite concept that your favorite artist/group had done?

This is a hard choice but it’s definitely between the “You Calling My Name (니가 부르는 나의 이름)” type of concept or the “If You Do (니가 하면)” type of concept. I really enjoyed the sexy and bad boy persona they gave off, the music videos, and of course, the fashion throughout these eras.

If GOT7 were to rejoin as a group and make a comeback, I really hope to see a vampire concept. I feel like it fits their style and aura as a group. As a fan, I’ve seen them do vampire concepts during live performances, especially during the “You Calling My Name” era as they wore mostly red and black with the masquerade type of fashion, with red contact lenses and makeup to give the vampire look, and I really enjoyed seeing it. So, them taking it to the next step and doing it as a whole comeback would be amazing! The music video can be a mixture of their song “NOT BY THE MOON” and ENHYPEN’s debut trailer.

One sound I would like to add into a K-pop song would be the saxophone. I feel like I have never heard a K-pop song with a saxophone as the main instrument, it’d definitely make the song sound more soulful which I would enjoy a lot.

If you can pick 3 artists to collaborate for a song, which 3 artists would you choose and why?

I would love to have a dream collaboration consisting of DPR IAN, Yugyeom, and Dean. Because I feel like their style of music producing would go so well together, and to hear a song that they produced or sung together would be an amazing experience.
