Sunday Spin: New Releases From no na, Tinashe, Jhené Aiko, EVAN, and Pháo

With fall making its way into the season, these new releases are making us wish summer would’ve stayed a little longer. This week’s Sunday Spin has it all, from R&B to Island Pop. EnVi is bringing you the newest releases from around the globe for a playlist upgrade you’re going to thank us later for.
no na – “speaker freaker the long song”
Indonesia’s rising girl group no na is teasing their anticipated debut album Island Girl with a mixtape that will have everyone heading to the dance floor. “speaker freaker the long song” is nearly a 15-minute track that blends their eight upcoming tracks and their most notable hits into a late-night radio station. The track moves through each preview of the upcoming songs with voice memos from the girls and funky, upbeat DJ spins, from fun service announcements like “If you are not dancing in your seat, you are probably the problem” in “speaker freaker” to their cheekier, slower-tempo track “smooth,” where we are introduced to the track by the voice of a man quoting, “Tonight I feel a romance in the air and also the humidity, this one is called smooth and it is dedicated to the orchid.” The group is blending electronic and modern synths to evoke the nostalgia of early ’80s R&B, dangdut, new jack swing, and synth-funk, creating what they call Island pop. Ready to be heard at full volume, no na is ready to let us dive into what an island girl truly is.
The music video is a stunning representation of the group’s culture and bond; shot in multiple locations across Indonesia, it features cities such as Jakarta and Yogyakarta. It showcases the country’s breathtaking landscapes and rich culture through the group’s perspective. Joining them on a road trip, the group drives through different moods and scenarios, from late-night dancing and glam outfits to driving by the sea, surrounded by nature and in more colorful outfits. As quoted in a press release, the music video and tracks complete the portrait of the island girl: “playful but purposeful, sassy but sincere, rooted in Indonesian identity while speaking a universal language of confidence, connection, and joy.” No Na’s Island Girl is set to debut on September 18, with 15 tracks and a certified dance floor.
Tinashe – “Pillow Fight”
Pop singer-songwriter Tinashe returns with yet another sneak peek of her upcoming album, Popstar, with “Pillow Fight.” The fourth pre-release single is a unique, mid-tempo R&B track that bridges fun and sexy with an eclectic combination of piano, bass, and stripped-back drums. Tinashe asserts her attraction from the very first verse, smoothly singing, “Don’t ever let a pretty face fool ya / Because I was never innocent (innocent).” She brings the lyrics to the screen in the music video, demonstrating skilled choreography as she dances on plush beds, clothed in slip dresses and lingerie.
“Pillow Fight” sharply contrasts with the other track on this double release, “I’d Rather Be Alone.” In the latter, Tinashe proclaims that she’d “rather be alone / Than spend my life holding on,” declaring that she’s done with a relationship she’s grown out of. Between these new releases and singles from earlier in the year like “Crash Out” and “Melatonin,” Tinashe is more than ready to drop her album of the year.
Jhené Aiko, Kendrick Lamar – “So Good”
Thirteen years after their first collaboration, “Stay Ready (What a Life),” Jhené Aiko and Kendrick Lamar return on the dreamy track, “So Good.” The two engage in a dialogue of each other’s affections, and the phrase “so good” comes to represent multiple elements in the romance they sing of pursuing. From physical attributes to personality, the duo admires everything about each other. Love doesn’t have to be loud to be real, which is what Jhené Aiko and Kendrick Lamar want to express. Sweet talk is vocalized through the pair’s soft voices, backed by a slow R&B beat.
At first glance, the lyrics for “So Good,” seem focused on the sexual attraction between the pair. However, Jhené Aiko and Kendrick Lamar leave subtle hints to the depths of their relationship. Kendrick Lamar is in awe of Jhené Aiko, as he remarks, “Hottie, stupid, got me stupid / Beauty and the brains, hey, what we doin’?” Her physical beauty is phenomenal, but her intelligence and wit are even more notable. As they harmonize over multiple verses, the pair show how their chemistry is found in more than physical compatibility.

EVAN – “Death of Me”
Newly solo artist EVAN is here to set the record straight and showcase his vulnerability and ideas with his debut mini album, DEATH OF ME. Consisting of eight tracks, including the pre-released track “Ride or Die,” EVAN takes a full 360 with the lead track “Death of Me.” Carried by its electronic bassline, the track steps into the R&B and pop genres, bringing a nostalgic feel reminiscent of the early 2010s music scene. Pushing into this new beginning, EVAN reminds those who once doubted his decisions that he will keep pursuing his own path and won’t let anyone or anything hold him back. Singing, “It’s in the stars, the start of my destiny / Oh, edge of the cliff, I’ll find my direction,” EVAN is ready to embrace whatever comes next.
The music video is what we could describe as second-generation K-pop meets 2026. Performing center stage while masked figures attempt to suffocate and stop him, EVAN brings the track’s lyrics to life through fast-paced choreography, explosive pyrotechnics, and scenes that feel straight out of a sci-fi-inspired film. EVAN’s debut reintroduces the world while also offering a lesson to anyone called to follow their own path and embrace a second chance.
Pháo – “Thay Đổi”
Pháo is showing her ability to guard her own heart in her recent single, “Thay Đổi.” Based on the song title’s theme of “change,” Pháo describes her own romance that has gone sour due to changes. As time has progressed, the exes have diverged from the people they once were together. After their breakup, Pháo faces her ex again and addresses him directly through the camera. Where she was forced to change to appease her ex during their relationship, she now fosters change on her own terms. All the transformations Pháo has undergone since the breakup have been for her own good and protection. Dressed in various combinations of stylized knight armor and hairstyles, she is embracing her new self to the fullest in the music video. Surrounded by dancers in chainmail and armed, Pháo shows she’s become stronger and is backed by powerful women. She’s no longer clinging to pain from heartbreak, but her ex is stuck in the past.
Billkin – “CHECKLIST”
Thai superstar Billkin is checking all the right boxes with “CHECKLIST,” the playful first taste of a new album era. Following the release of his sophomore album, Grow With The Flow, last year, Billkin returns with a bright, flirtatious pop track built around a realization that feels almost too convenient: everything his crush says they want in a partner sounds suspiciously like him.
As they run through their checklist, looking for someone tall, confident, gentle, funny, a good listener, and even a dog lover, Billkin patiently plays matchmaker. The joke, of course, is that every other option somehow falls short while he happens to fit the description perfectly. There’s an easy charm to the writing, turning the familiar experience and beloved trope of wanting someone to finally notice what is right in front of them into a cheeky confession in true Billkin style. In fact, the idea came directly from Billkin, who wanted to make a song about flirting with someone in a way that felt distinctly like himself.
That lightheartedness also carries into the production. Live drums, bass, guitar, piano, percussion and a full horn section give “CHECKLIST” a warm, floaty groove, leaving plenty of room for Billkin’s voice to take center stage. His vocal control has long been one of his greatest strengths, and this song allows him to trade the heavier emotion he is so capable of delivering for something looser and more teasing.
LE SSERAFIM – “Made My Night”
K-pop girl group LE SSERAFIM returns with their second single album, Made My Night, and an electrofunk-pop collaboration with the iconic first-person shooter game, Overwatch. “Made My Night” is a feel-good English track that makes for the perfect soundtrack to wrap up the summer. The five members, Kim Chaewon, Sakura, Huh Yunjin, Kazuha, and Hong Eunchae, trade off singing over a head-bopping beat about a mysterious chemical attraction on the dance floor. “Oh, baby, it’s just science / No, you and I can’t deny it,” Huh Yunjin confesses in the chorus. A bouncy electronic melody of piano and horns evokes the mid-2010s electronic dance music classics of Major Lazer’s “Light It Up.”
The music video, created in collaboration with Overwatch, features the quintet trapped in a futuristic city. While LE SSERAFIM performs choreography in front of a sprawling skyline in a high-tech cell, Overwatch characters D.Va and D.Mon work together to rescue them and watch their performance live. Alongside the music video, Overwatch announced their side of the collaboration with a gameplay trailer: new in-game skins for D.Mon and her crew. This is the second collaboration LE SSERAFIM has done with Overwatch, and it marks yet another bridge for fans of K-pop and gamers alike.
CRUSH – “Benim Olsana”
It seems that boy band summer will be transitioning into fall; Turkish boy group CRUSH is making us fall for their charms with their new single release, “Benim Olsana.” Consisting of members, Efe Şan, Arda Soydoğan, Miraç Fırat, Oğuzhan Çifçi, Batu Cengiz, Barış Yüksekkaya, and Milan Önder, CRUSH is confessing their love and frustrations in a cheerful and take my hand to the dancefloor kind of way.
Longing for someone is never easy, and the band seems to be tired of waiting and wanting a chance to be loved. Singing, “Be mine from now on, or be no one’s at all” and “I mean, she’s dangerous, her love is driving me crazy,” the band is ready to commit, but is their significant other ready for that? The track’s intense yet loving lyrics are accompanied by Latin-inspired influences and a few trumpets here and there. As a dance-pop track, its synths and isolated vocals bring this love confession to life, making it impossible not to sway our hips along to the beat as the ending chorus kicks in.
H.E.R., Liza Soberano – “BRB”
Filipina artists H.E.R. and Liza Soberano lend their voices to DreamWorks’ upcoming animated film, Forgotten Island (2026). The film follows two best friends, Jo (H.E.R.) and Raissa (Liza Soberano), who must fight to protect their lifelong bond. Transported to the mythical Nakali island, Jo and Raissa must find a way to escape with their memories of each other intact. Their collaborative single on Forgotten Island’s soundtrack, “BRB,” shows how friendship transcends time and memory.
Daily scenes of the community in the Philippines are celebrated in the music video for “BRB.” Featuring the families of directors Joel Crawford and Januel Mercado with analog film visuals, the video invokes warmth and nostalgia. Shots of Manila’s streets are mixed with families engaging in activities such as mahjong, card games, and karaoke. Through it all, the joy found in being together as a family is evident. Togetherness carries over into the song’s lyrics, as H.E.R. and Liza Soberano promise to help each other stay grounded. “If you feel a little lost, maybe, a little off-track / Just remember where you came from, I’ll be right back,” they assure listeners in the chorus. No matter what may try to separate you, let your loved ones know you’ll, BRB.”
