Texas-born, LA-based singer-songwriter Jae Stephens was born to be a star. She has been uploading videos of herself singing since she was a teenager and active on Tumblr (yes, she is the beyoncebeytwice). Since then, Stephens has gone on to open for UK girl group FLO and write for other major artists like Jennifer Lopez, Loossemble, and JIHYO from TWICE. Now, itโs her time to shine.
Since the release of her latest EP Total Sellout in November 2025, Stephens has garnered praise from both fans and critics alike. Her popularity and virality has also grown tremendously since the albumโs release due to its strong production and clever lyrics that embody self-confidence. With the announcement that her โTotal Selloutโ tour will continue across North America this spring after last Decemberโs initial concerts in London, NYC, and LA, here are five songs to get to know more about Jae Stephens ahead of her 2026 takeover.
1. Afterbody
Her most popular song to date, โAfterbodyโ is the definitive club dance song. It explores the idea that no matter who else is in the room, Stephens is the one guys want. This song began gaining popularity on social media after a viral TikTok featuring robots dancing to it. Soon, a dance trend emerged where people began doing the same dance as the robots, leading to more push of the song as well.
This TikTok helped introduce Jae Stephens to a wider audience. Many comments under the video shared how they werenโt familiar with her at first, but found the song to be so addictive that they became fans of her. The music video perfectly encapsulates the sexiness of the song, featuring Stephens dancing in a club and being the center of attention. It also starts out with her on an exercise bike, showcasing how this is the perfect song to listen to during a workout (trust me!).
2. Body Favors
This pop/R&B song is an addictive ear worm thatโs perfect to listen to as the weather gets warmer. The soft and sweet production, coupled with candy references throughout the lyrics such as โLike a sugar rush […] Met your match, I’m your Candy Crushโ and โLick it right out the paper / Like you go dumb for the flavor,โ makes you want to listen to the song over and over again, similar to wanting another piece of candy. The repetition of โNa na naโ in the chorus and Jae cheekily asking, โYou like that?โ rounds out the energy of the song. Youโll have no choice but to put it on repeat.
You may be familiar with both the song and the images of Jae in different red outfits and aesthetics, as a clip of the music video made its rounds on social media after the singleโs initial release in 2024. The song still has some steam though โ Grammy-winning singer CoCo Jones recently posted an Instagram story of herself with โBody Favorsโ as the background music. Itโs never too late to join in on the craze.
3. Boyfriend Forever
Ever wanted to recreate a scene from a movie or TV show where the main character is lying on their bed writing in their diary, hanging with friends, or doing a fashion montage? Well, this is the perfect song to live out that childhood daydream. This dreamy, bedroom pop song will instantly uplift your spirits in any situation, even in the midst of a bad breakup. The melody is reminiscent of โ80s pop/R&B songs like โIf It Isnโt Loveโ by New Edition and tracks from Janet Jacksonโs award-winning 1986 album Control. The chorus โBoys arenโt forever / They change like the weather / He couldnโt measure / I found his successor,โ is not only catchy, but also a bit of a mantra for those who may have difficulty moving on or feel guilty for moving on. So, the next time youโre getting ready to go out, chilling with friends, or trying to get over an ex or a crush, put this song on for an instant mood boost.
4. Precious
An underrated gem, โPreciousโ is a sensual song about someone looking to skip the slow, burning romance stage and jump straight to the steamy, physical stage. The song immediately hooks the listener in with a rhythmic kick drum that simulates clapping.ย โWhereโs your bassline? / Why you so shy? / Cross that fine line, this ainโt my first time,โ Jae exclaims before the chorus as she invites her admirer to not hesitate and make their move.
Once the beat drops and the chorus starts, the synths immediately transport listeners into what feels like the soundscape of a futuristic nightclub. Stephensโ enticing lyrics plus the production creates a siren-like atmosphere to the song, hypnotizing listeners and making them want more. She then sprinkles in a bit of rap in the second verse, embodying self-confidence and letting everyone know that sheโs her own prized possession with lyrics such as โMy nameโs Jae, I donโt care about yoursโ and โI know I look really pricy, break me, you buy me.โ If youโre in the mood to feel sexy or in need of a confidence boost, be sure to play this at full volume.
5. Him&Him&Him
A fan favorite, โHim&Him&Himโ is the embodiment of the idea that one can never have too many options when it comes to liking someone. The catchy uptempo track instantly gets stuck in your head, and the chorus will have listeners humming and singing nonstop. With lines such as โHim or him, how could I choose? / Leaving here with one or two” and โRunner-ups might get my phone / Winner gets to take me home,โ Jae flips the player act thatโs typically reserved for and praised by male artists. She makes it known that men arenโt the only ones who should be able to explore multiple romantic options.
With both fun and cheeky lyrics and production, the song has the potential to garner mass appeal and popularity if released as a single in the future. While this track currently does not have a music video and is one of the few songs that Jae has yet to perform live, thereโs still hope. Jae recently posted a picture of her wearing a shirt with the songโs title, a potential hint that we can expect this to be her next hit single.
