pH-1 is back with his new release “LATELY” featuring the female soloist, Hoody. The single was released on December 23 with an accompanying music video.
Feeling Blue “LATELY?”
Many fans of pH-1 would be pleased to hear his latest release. “LATELY” embodies pH-1’s characteristically moody sound. The track featured Korean singer-songwriter, Hoody, who is his close friend and frequent collaborator. Her sweet vocals seamlessly blended with pH-1’s solemn rapping and created a perfect track.
Realizing that the holiday season is not the most wonderful time of the year for everyone, pH-1 took a plunge into the sadness the winter can bring. The sorrowful hip-hop track discussed the loss of love. After seeing many relationships—romantic and platonic alike—around him fall apart, pH-1 was inspired by their experiences and how it leaves a sense of emptiness behind.
While many consider the winter season to be romantic, pH-1 wanted to show a side of it that is much less warm. “I wanted to make a song for the lonely ones,” pH-1 said. “I want fans to feel like it’s okay to be alone during the holiday season. I want them to see me as an artist that really pays attention to all the little emotions that we feel as people, and that I try my best to create stories that they can all relate to.”
The lyrics expertly convey the message he wanted to showcase. As snapshots of a couple arguing alongside their happy memories flashed across the screen, pH-1 hollowly sang that “It’s all because you left, my life is faded.” The grainy texture of those happy memories with the cold coloring of the couple’s desolate present truly shows the emptiness many feel after the loss of a meaningful relationship in their life. pH-1 perfectly captures the nostalgia of a failed relationship in the music video, where it’s sometimes easier to only remember the best parts as he sings about on the track.
