The Best Looks of the Week: Hande Erçel, Zendaya, Mark Lee and Alexa Chung Deliver Fashion Serves at The Championships, Wimbledon 2024
The Championships, Wimbledon — known simply as Wimbledon — is a two-week-long annual tennis tournament taking place every summer. Among its international counterparts, Wimbledon is the oldest ongoing Glam Slam, which paints the competition with an added layer of prestige. Competitors engage in nine events across different age categories, including Main Events, Junior Events and Invitation Events. Main Events generally draw the most media coverage and comprise Gentlemen’s and Ladies’ Singles, Gentlemen’s and Ladies’ Doubles and Mixed Doubles.
Held at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London, Wimbledon is also recognized as a masterpiece of coordinated style. Competitors adhere to a strict all-white dress code, while audience members unofficially coordinate timeless preppy outfits. Celebrity attendees often partner with beloved and classically preppy labels such as Ralph Lauren (the official outfitter of the event) — or simply follow their hearts — to assemble tasteful looks apt for tennis viewing.
This year, several notable names made Wimbledon appearances, including Turkish actress Hande Erçel, K-pop idol Mark Lee, American actress Zendaya, fashionista Alexa Chung and Bridgerton star Hannah Dodd.

In addition to the lesson on color coordination, the actor also offered some tips on how to mix textures — he layered a navy tee under a vertical stripe shirt and a suede jacket.

To complete her effortlessly chic look, Alexa sported black slingback shoes and a studded clutch that gave us a major throwback to her indie sleaze era.

Indian actor Sonam Kapoor took a chic Bottega Veneta set to Wimbledon’s day 13. The star put a summer garden party twist to coordinated fashion, pairing a midi circle skirt with a matching blouse — both items featured a multicolored stripe fabric. The classy Bollywood actor accentuated her look with black and gold accessories, including a pair of patent leather mules, a Bottega Venta Liberta Bag, wire-rimmed sunglasses and the most elegant set of jewelry. Sonam’s beauty choices didn’t go unnoticed either. For the big finals day, the actor went for rosy nude makeup and a soft pink manicure that we’re adding to our nail inspo mood board ASAP!

Spider-Man star Andrew Garfield is no stranger to the Wimbledon limelight — or its dress code. The actor, a regular at the sports event, opted for a preppy-casual ensemble to attend day 14 of The Championships. Tapping into the classic Ralph Lauren aesthetics, Andrew combined cream tapered pants, an orange shirt and a blue sports jacket. The actor complemented his Wimbledon fit with a pair of black sunglasses, a matching timepiece and a menswear classic: the tassel shoe.

Tenniscore queen, Zendaya, delivered fashion statements and endearing moments on the courtside with her two-day attendance at Wimbledon. The Challengers star, who became the undisputed owner of the tennis aesthetic since she starred in Luca Guadagnino’s latest film, didn’t disappoint. On day 13, she embraced an off-duty and relaxed appearance, clad in denim pants, an undone light blue shirt and a Herringbone jacket — all by Ralph Lauren. The superstar changed things up for day 14, going for a sophisticated look featuring a white midi dress, a vertical stripe shirt and the must-have accessory of 2024 — the tie. Hannah accompanied the colorful piece with a mid-part ponytail and a yellow Polo ID mini bag.

Fashion enthusiasts can’t get enough of Turkish actor Hande Erçel’s stylish wardrobe. The star has a winning look for every occasion and the final day of the Wimbledon Championships was no different. Hande stepped out in London accompanied by beau Hakan Sabancı and dressed in a preppy mini-dress. The star, who recently announced her newest project Leave It to the Wind, owned the courtside with a simple light blue dress, matching Bottega Veneta Knot clutch and white sandals. Hande accessorized her outfit with dark sunglasses, a silver timepiece and gold accents. To top off the ensemble, the ever-so-stylish screen queen also sported one of the most popular hairstyles of the season — the high-slung ponytail.

Polo Ralph Lauren ambassador Mark Lee — Canadian rapper and K-pop multihyphenate — took the preppy road for his first Wimbledon appearance. Invited to the Ralph Lauren suite, the singer embodied elegance in a timeless beige trousers and blue blazer combination. Mark didn’t play safe and combined the pinstripe double-breasted jacket with a vertical stripe light blue shirt and a patterned navy tie, sharing a lesson on how to add fun and dynamism to a tailored look. The “200” singer finished off the look with black leather shoes, a white pocket square and the K-pop star’s favorite curtain bang hairstyle. Talk about a fashion serve!
