Netflix released the second teaser trailer for the upcoming season of Arcane (2021) on September 5. The critically-acclaimed show is a joint venture between Riot Games and Netflix, directed and produced by Fortiche Production under direction of founders Pascal Charrue and Arnaud Delord. Ahead of the show’s second and final season, coming November 2024, fans received the first official taste of what’s to come to the instrumental of “Paint the Town Blue.” New imagery, new music and a cinematic trailer hint at the turmoil that awaits Piltover and Zaun.

“Paint the Town Blue”

The first season of Arcane featured a highly successful soundtrack that enhanced the viewing experience. Notably, “Enemy (with JID)” by Imagine Dragons, the show’s theme song, has garnered more than 1.5 billion streams to date. It’s only fitting that the first song to come from the second season features Ashnikko. The American artist has mastered the art of creating angsty, feminine hip-hop music that, coincidentally, seamlessly backgrounds Jinx’s transformation.

In an Instagram post, Ashnikko shared her enthusiasm about writing “Jinx’s song” for the new season. “Paint the Town Blue” is a fast-paced, dynamic track that accompanies the newest show footage. With a chorus that chants, “Paint the town blue / Riots all around you,” Ashnikko teases Jinx’s fierce new era — one that is filled with self-discovery, heartbreak and fighting, as evident by the trailer.

Watch it All Burn

Though the trailer comes in around two minutes, fans are treated to plenty of fresh information. A clear sequence and haunting still seemingly confirm the appearance of League of Legends character Warwick — or at least, a figure so similar that it has sustained fan theories. Meanwhile, familiar faces from the season one cast are pictured with new designs. For example, Jinx receives a colorful makeover, while Vi takes a darker, broodier route. Perhaps this signals the release of an Arcane skin line to come in League of Legends, as was the case when the show debuted.

As the series quickly approaches its explosive finale, one thing is clear: no one will be safe from the imminent battle. Scenes of uprisings and distress are interwoven with taunting and heart-wrenching audio clips, building anticipation for what will surely be a rollercoaster culmination.

If all this wasn’t enough, fans will be happy to learn that more news is on the way. The Arcane team is slated to release the next update during the Geeked Week Live Fan Event on September 19.
