ICYMI, creative director Alessandro Michele bears an impressive legacy in accessories at Gucci, so his creative eye didn’t go unnoticed. As expected in a highly awaited show, spectators’ eyes were glued on the lineup of retro-infused pieces and accessories. From facial piercings to the matching red color, Michele handpicked elements to create an epic for the eyes on the runway.

The front row didn’t pale in comparison. Dressed to the nines, global celebrities made a case for ‘60s and ‘70s-inspired style. The focus? Bold, retro-infused headgear.

Colman Domingo

Compared to his louder fashion statements, American actor Coman Domingo took a subtle approach to the headwear agenda. The star sported a sandy mandarin collared shirt and matching linen pants. To upgrade the monochrome ensemble, the actor added a crochet beret that left us wondering if the crochet hat craze of 2020 is about to make its big return in 2025.

Guan Xiaotong

Chinese style icon Guan Xiaotong radiated ‘70s groove with a matching dress and bandana set. Taking cues from bygone eras, the actress went for a head-to-toe printed look, where the highlight was a bandana wrapped around the head in a 1970s style. Lace stockings, a pearl necklace, and teal sandals elevated the ensemble for the front row. Peach fuzz makeup and mermaid waves completed the look, which reminded us of American pop star Cher’s 1970s glamour.

Salma Hayek

Mexican actress Salma Hayek took a monochromatic approach to the front row. The star sported lilac from head to toe with the exception of a pair of sunglasses, a pearl necklace, and rose gold heels. However, Hayek’s outfit stood out for the accompanying headwear: a satin finish turban, which she sported over a set of loose waves.

Sarocha Chankimha (Freen)

Thai actress Sarocha Chankimha (best known as Freen) built a noteworthy outfit from foundational retro elements. The Loyal Pin star took over the front row dressed in a little black dress with puffed sleeves and a polka-dot neckpiece. Freen took the retro look —  which also featured gold shoes and a fresh-from-the-oven Valentino bag — to the next level with a vintage-style turban. The headpiece was styled with barely there waves and worn alongside pearls to complement the vintage aesthetic.

Yoona Lim

Similarly, South Korean singer Yoona Lim channeled her inner flapper on the front row. Influenced by the roaring twenties, she stepped out in a short-sleeved dress covered in multicolored beads. A lavender satin turban wrapped around the star’s wavy hair, matching the purple ombre effect of her dress and bestowing 1920s energy to her front row ‘fit. As the cherry on top, bows adorned her pumps for a coquette touch.

Mirroring the runway, which also featured its good share of iconic headgear, the Valentino front row was a parade of fun and playful head accessories. But not everything was about chic headpieces. The stylish guests, including Michele’s muse Harry Styles, Thai singer and actor Jeff Satur and Chinese star Yang Zi also rocked vibrant colors and sleek but flamboyant outfits — everything Michele’s Valentino embodies in this new era.
