SAILORR

SAILORR stepped into the music scene in December 2023 and hasn’t stepped out. Her debut song “WEATHERED” set the tone of a bright career with the juxtaposition of the song itself expressing the exhaustion of being with the wrong person. Following her successful debut almost a year later with “POOKIE’S REQUIEM,” SAILORR has evidently progressed her story and feelings by wishing her ex well the best way she knows how: breaking into his house and ruining his things. Ending 2024 on a high note, “W1LL U L13?” was released as an anthem for trust issues and suspicion. As seen in her From The Block performance, SAILORR knows she deserves nothing but the best and shows it by ending her undeserving relationship right then and there.

Yerin Baek

Musical powerhouse Yerin Baek has done everything a musician dreams of, from being in the performance duo 15& to building her record label, Blue Vinyl, to being in the rock band The Volunteers. In her solo music, Baek explores the softness and vulnerability that life often brings. In her 2019 album Every letter I sent you., Baek focuses on heartbreak and being alone in an unknown space. Realizing her expectations for love have turned into loss, she sings, “Don’t say we were meant to be / When you quit this love, you’d need that phrase again” in her song “Meant To Be.” Though many of her songs have a tender atmosphere, others like “It was me” and “Pisces” remain introspective and upbeat.

Milena

Milena is over worn-out relationships, and we don’t blame her. In her most recent album, Foggy, she opens with “Broken,” which begins the album but ends her time with a lover. Followed by soulful songs like “No Jam” and “HML (hugged myself last night),” these sorrowful and pensive themes continue throughout the album. Milena has even questioned the entire existence of painful love affairs by posing the question, “why do we fall in love?” She repeats throughout the song, “Don’t be a fool / Such a nonsense / Hurt and destructive / Why do we fall in love?” For a jazzy Valentine’s Day, listening to Milena is a must.

BIBI

BIBI has made a name for herself with her duality and distinction in the music industry through viral songs like “BIBI Vengeance” and “Life is a Bi….” Her voice can easily go from soothing to sensual, and she has found fame for her versatility in doing just that. She has never been afraid to express her self-adoration and interest in teaching others how to love her better. Her first full English single, “Best Lover,” goes over these instructions, and after she debuted this song at Coachella, fans couldn’t get enough. While BIBI’s soft side occasionally shows in singles like “Bam Yang Gang,” which was released for Valentine’s Day last year, she was quick to remind everyone who they were listening to with the single’s sexy sister “Sugar Rush.”

Denise Julia

♬ original sound – denise julia

Dubbed as the “Patron Saint of Situationships,” Filipino soloist Denise Julia knows a thing or two about being “anti-Valentine’s.” One thing about Denise Julia, she keeps the subject of her song in check! Her breakout single “NVMD” is about the unfulfillment of a one-sided relationship. She directly sings, “What I got on my mind / Is that I’m hurt and you like it / This ain’t chess I ain’t no side piece.” Julia’s lyrics read like a text or call transcript to that certain someone who won’t stop playing with your feelings. Despite being dejected, Julia still carries herself with confidence knowing the other person is the one who is fumbling it all. In “better than he does,” she presents a sapphic rendition of the classic R&B track by Brandy and Monica, “The Boy Is Mine.” As the title suggests, Julia wants to be that special Valentine for someone: “Baby, I can guarantee / I’m better than that boy, he ain’t what you need.” No matter what situation you’re in this Valentine’s Day, Denise Julia has you covered!

Jhené Aiko

Are you really “anti-Valentine’s” if you haven’t crashed out to a Jhené Aiko song? Jhené Aiko is a bonafide R&B soloist, crafting the perfect tracks for every stage of romance. However, her heartbreak-driven tracks just hit differently in her rich discography. Aiko’s music walks you through every stage of grief — from the delusion-driven denial to the “I deserved so much better” acceptance. Her BET-award winning and GRAMMY-nominated song “The Worst” went through a viral resurgence on TikTok a decade later for its timeless relatability. Specifically, the self-reflecting bridge often strikes a chord with listeners: “I never listen, no / I should have figured though / All that shit you was spittin’, so unoriginal / But it was you, so I was with it / Then tell you the truth, wish we never did it.” She’s also collaborated on “anti-Valentine” gems such as “B.S. (feat H.E.R.)” and “Beware.” If no one has you this Valentine’s Day, Jhené Aiko does!

MEMI

MEMI is here to crash sweet, sentimental Valentine’s parties, shredding up every rose petal and love letter with her raw, unfiltered guitar sound. Blending grunge, metal, and indie rock, this Korean rockstar ditches the sugarcoated romance for fiery anthems of heartbreak, frustration, and self-empowerment. If you need a girl to hand you a sledgehammer to bash those sickly sweetheart feelings to pieces, MEMI is the one for you. From funky rock tracks like “i’m broken” to more emotional ones like “LOVE SONG” — which is anything but a love song –— MEMI is the perfect anti-Valentine dose you need. Her single “I don’t give a” builds a balance of explosive guitar riffs, heavy drums, and unapologetic lyrics. She also draws a clear line with lyrics like “Mind your business” and “Stop being nice, I don’t care.” Spend your time on Valentine’s Day head-banging to MEMI’s angsty anthems!

Tiffany Day

If love songs make you squirm and vulnerability feels like a trap, Tiffany Day is the perfect enabler for your emotionally distant ways this Valentine’s Day. The Chinese American pop artist is currently on another self-produced tour (with Piao opening) for her debut album LOVER TOFU FRUIT. Tiffany Day is the kind of artist who lets you wallow in your avoidant tendencies while simultaneously pushing you toward self-growth — whether you like it or not. Songs like “SIMON SAID” and “CLOUT CHASER” cut through the post-breakup haze with biting wit and a refusal to romanticize the past. But our personal favorite is her 2020 release “COMMITMENT ISSUES.” Repelling any romantic interests, she sings, “Can’t let them hurt you if you don’t give them a chance / And I don’t have issues / I just don’t think I need a man.” So if your idea of a great Valentine’s Day is dodging romance, embracing your independence, and maybe sending a subtle middle finger to your ex, Tiffany Day has the perfect songs for you.

SASAMI

Do love songs make you cringe? Do heart-shaped chocolates leave a bad aftertaste? Well, SASAMI is your anti-Valentine’s Day antidote. Instead of dreamy ballads, she crafts songs for the brokenhearted, the fed-up, and the ones who would rather scream into the void than send a sappy text. The singer-songwriter is all about the bad side of love: the obsession, the frustration, the push-and-pull of wanting intimacy but refusing to be vulnerable enough to fall for it. Tracks like “Say It” from her album Squeeze and “Slugger” from the upcoming Blood On the Silver Screen teeter between defiance and longing. One moment, she’s swearing off love entirely; the next, she’s exposing the vulnerable ache of wanting to be wanted. This emotional whiplash is what makes her music so relatable because sometimes, even the most hardened hearts still hope for something real.

Chloe Qisha

While this anti-Valentine girl has a couple of love songs up her sleeve, her anti-love anthems can’t be excluded from this list. Hailing from Malaysia, Chloe Qisha is a rising talent in the music scene, twisting together nostalgic alternative pop with contemporary sounds. Like all the other ladies on this list, Chloe is no stranger to heartbreak, and her tracks like “Evelyn” and “I Lied, I’m Sorry” prove it. However, Chloe is for the soft girlies who are trying to leave love in the past, embracing a new version of themselves that’s not so dependent on the drug called love. In “Sexy Goodbye” Chloe sings, “I wanna be bulletproof / I won’t cry / I want a sexy goodbye.” With her dreamy yet defiant melodies, she proves that moving on isn’t just about letting go — it’s about leveling up.
