V8 – “singasong”
It seems the heat brings new beats to the dance floor. Officially collaborating on their joint debut EP, Vernon and Xu Minghao (The8) of K-pop group SEVENTEEN have brought electronic and hyperpop music back with their release, V8. Consisting of eight new tracks, the project sees both members collaborating with renowned producers Pharrell Williams, Dylan Brady (100 Gecs), and Mechatok. Centered around the image of wasted youth, the EP explores vulnerability and bottled-up emotions, reflecting the duo’s deep involvement in this special project. In a recent interview, the duo said, “I wanted to focus more on reflecting deeply on the youth I’ve lived through so far. So my lyrics convey thoughts … That’s basically how we approached all the songs, just talking about our own perspective on the same topic.” An album so rich in its sonic landscape is equally rich in its language. Featuring lyrics in English, Korean, and Mandarin, the tracks transport listeners through what feels like a map of the duo’s minds, inviting them to experience the emotions and reflections throughout the project.
Lead title track “singasong” continues the glorious dance-electric-pop genre within K-pop and adds to the range of both members. On a club-like track, the electronic and video game-inspired beats heard in the song bring the hook and both voices together. With a steady “Uh huh, sing a song,” the track is fun and catchy, and produced by none other than Mechatok. While the duo performs in Korea, international fans await their DJ world tour, hoping to hear this Hyperpop anthem live as well.

ALAMAT – “Sinigang”

Filipino boy group ALAMAT wear their hearts on their sleeves with “Sinigang,” a slow jam from the group’s sophomore album DESTINO. The song has only now been officially released as a single, with an accompanying music video. Backed by a classic 90s R&B boyband beat and violin accents, loverboy members Taneo, Mo, Jao, Tomás, and Alas use polished harmonies to yearn as they reminisce on a love they cannot leave in the past.
In “Sinigang,” ALAMAT sings from the perspective of someone still fully consumed by the memories of a past relationship and the possibilities of what could have been. The chorus asks why this person refuses to let go of their thoughts before pleading not to be left in love alone. Throughout the song, the members question whether the feelings are mutual and admit that, even after time apart, the person still lives in the mind (and heart) rent-free.
That longing turns into determination in the song’s final stretch. And instead of accepting that the relationship is over for good, the members promise to keep searching for this person, even if they are not meant to be together in the current chapter of their story. If they find each other again, the promise is simple: this time, they will not let them get hurt.
Written by members Taneo, Mo, and Tomás, and produced and arranged by Alas, “Sinigang” is a revisit to ALAMAT’s softer, smoother, more R&B side of their sound, one that they rarely visit but that captures fans’ hearts and ears every time. Read more about “Sinigang” in our DESTINO album breakdown.
Sunkis, FLO – “Pretty Eyes”
Chinese-American singer sunkis teamed up with British girl group FLO to release the sweet R&B ballad “Pretty Eyes” this week. The track marks his first single of the year and his first collaboration with the three members of FLO, Jorja Douglas, Stella Quaresma, and Renée Downer. “Pretty Eyes” samples the 2005 R&B track “All I Do” by the American R&B group B5, a cover of the Jackson 5 hit song “All I Do Is Think of You.” Sunkis puts his own spin on the track with lyrics that reflect the gratitude and love of a strong relationship. “All I do is think of you and those pretty eyes,” sunkis admits in the chorus. “I wish that you could see how good you’re looking from my point of view.”
FLO member Stella weighs in from the other perspective in the relationship, singing her partner’s praises. “Proud to have you on my side,” she professes. “I’m happy just to know you.” The smitten lyrics pair nicely with the track’s slow-tempo beat and layered harmonies. There’s no rush in this relationship, just love and appreciation. While “Pretty Eyes” may be the first single of 2026 for sunkis, fans certainly hope it won’t be the last. For listeners of FLO, the girl group is expected to release their new album, THERAPY AT THE CLUB, on August 7th before embarking on a tour across Asia later that month.
Yel – “JUST A DREAM”

Is it the summer of loving or in some way longing? Yel is back with her newest single “JUST A DREAM” to prove to us that love sometimes is too good to be true. Just like its title, the track brings us into a dreamy atmosphere that paints a story of a love that feels like it was real. With a nostalgic city pop-inspired and R&B-vibe, shimmering production, and Yel’s vocal abilities, the track captures the bittersweet feeling Yel needs to convey. In a press release Yel shared, “I suggested that we write a bittersweet song. As someone who dreams often, I wanted to use that feeling to express waking up heartbroken from an unpleasant dream.” Already a hit on social media, “JUST A DREAM” feels honest and vulnerable, a track perfect to be heard with your friends on a rooftop or on a road trip with a lost lover.
Whether you are a fan or are now becoming part of the growing fandom, Yel is a star on the rise. Debuting back in 2022 with her EP “About Last Night..” Yel gradually became a hot topic for blending multiple genres into a unique sound. After two EP’s and a full album, those who stumble upon her music open up a world of versatility and raw connection. She has kept the momentum going with “JUST A DREAM,” making this star the most unstoppable she has ever been.
Omoinotake – “FLASHBULB”

Japanese trio band Omoinotake returns with the refreshing summer single “FLASHBULB,” the latest of their long line of theme songs for various television and animated series. The three members, Leo, Emoaki, and Drage, formed the band in 2012 as high school classmates in Tokyo. Since then, they’ve gained widespread acclaim for their emotional and invigorating sound. “FLASHBULB” is no different, with a driving drumbeat and bassline that encourage the listener to get up and dance. Described in a press release as “radiant,” the track “captures the fleeting brilliance of youth, which shines like a flash of light.” The official music video features a group of teens enjoying their youth to the fullest, reflecting the elated feelings of summer and turning ordinary moments into long-lasting memories.
“FLASHBULB” was written as the opening theme for Season 2 of the television anime Hanazakari no Kimitachi e, or Hana-Kimi for short. The youthful anime makes for the perfect backdrop for the song. Omoinotake will perform the closing theme, “Hanataba,” for the anime series as well, set for digital release on July 22. Both tracks will appear on their upcoming Memorabilia album, alongside previously released singles like “Wonderland” and “Gravity.” After the album’s release on September 2, Omoinotake will embark on a 14-date tour across Japan, Hong Kong, Taipei, and Seoul during the fall.
Aku Jeje – “Ceritanya Jatuh Cinta”

“Ceritanya Jatuh Cinta” (The Story of Falling in Love) isn’t quite the typical Indonesian love song. Though the lyrics maintain a slightly poetic tone that enjoyers of romantic I-pop would appreciate, they don’t stick to a morose balladic tone. Aku Jeje took a more playful route, one synonymous with the pitter-patter of one’s heart as a crush blooms inside.
The vibrant production contributes to that feeling, with a bossa nova-esque rhythm that shimmers with glimmering instrumental runs. It’s the kind of song that’s befitting as the soundtrack to an indie romcom montage or a picture-perfect first date. It reflects Aku Jeje’s outlook on romance: a little humorous but still sincere and grateful, especially given that one can open one’s heart again after more than a few heartbreaks.
Tomohiro Kamiyama – “G.O.D.”

WEST.’s Tomohiro Kamiyama has made his splashy solo debut with “G.O.D.,” a reference to his surname Kamiyama — which means mountain of gods in Japanese. Released on his 33rd birthday on July 1, the actor and idol’s digital single acts as a gateway to “Kamiyama World,” a showcase of his expressive, multifaceted artistry, much of which he flexes with this track.
He penned and composed the song himself, which explains how freely he spits his bars, comfortably slipping between English and Japanese. It’s a feel-good anthem that describes the feeling of being on cloud nine, with lyrics like “It’s my expression that keeps me alive / There’s not a single lie” anchoring that high-octane atmosphere to the song’s ethos. The music video is just as explosive, featuring choreography that Kamiyama co-created with Kaita of the dance crew RHT.
phyllzx – “drip drop”

Singapore-based musician phyllzx is taking listeners to the middle of a dance floor with her latest release, “drip drop.” As its name suggests, you’d hear the tinkle of water droplets accentuating some beats. It only adds to the “Liquid motion, no divide” ambience built by the production, which juxtaposes against an infectious amapiano-influenced beat, evoking something straight out of Tyla’s discography.
The track is a collision of many things. For one, the production blends avant-pop sensibilities with aggressive club production, keeping the energy high and constantly flowing, with industrial percussion and distorted electronic textures. Lyrically, it’s an amalgam of obsession, power, and performance refracted through a cyberpunk lens, delivered by hypnotic vocal chants and breathy melodies that heighten the darkness, chaos, and experimental sound design.
Other tracks in this week’s Sunday Spin playlist include “Alive” by Jorja Smith and Wizkid, Ado’s “Love me forever!,” “WHAT’S THE POINT” by LAYYI, and FOURTH’s “Rain Fall.” Listen to everything mentioned and more, curated by Team EnVi only for you on Spotify.
