On February 29, Acne Studios presented its Fall Winter 2024 collection at Paris Fashion Week. The show, held at the Paris Observatory, was an ode to futurism. Through its new collection, the Stockholm-based label transformed present-day women’s fashion for the woman of the future.
The Collection
Acne Studios’ new collection reimagined the brand’s foundations through a forward-looking lens. Leather and denim, classic Acne Studios textiles, took center stage on the runway. With these staple materials, Creative Director Jonny Johansson put a twist on female archetypes visible in faux fur pieces, handbags, timeless black dresses, denim items, and even racer jackets. “When you want to feel tough you gravitate towards leather and denim; it’s like armour. It always feels right,” Johansson shared in a statement.
Staying true to the atmosphere generally associated with fall and winter collections, the color palette was rich in neutrals. Black and dark brown hues were complemented by the occasional burst of flame orange, green and lighter brown in prints — a nod to the line’s racer sub-theme. Acne’s runway accentuated the feminine silhouette with sharp tailoring that explored both elongated and shrunken proportions. Johansson further pushed the limits of convention with pieces that resembled the underlay of couture dresses and ribbed detailing that mimicked undergarments.
