Jennie Kim was a vision in blue at the 2024 Met Gala. Dressed in custom Alaïa, the “You & Me” star joined the blue eyeshadow revival, proving that glossy, duo-chrome eyeshadow belongs in any regal glam repertoire.
As per usual, Jennie elevated her look with well-thought-out makeup. Ahead, EnVi decodes the superstar’s glam for the 2024 Met Gala.
The Makeup
Makeup artist Won Jo-Yeon, also known as Joynara, took the helm of Jennie’s makeup chair for her Met Gala comeback. The celebrity MUA crafted a simple yet purposeful look, using fundamental makeup techniques. Jennie’s soft-matte base, for example, was reminiscent of the cloud skin powder technique making the rounds online — it kept Jennie’s face relatively matte to bring attention to the eyes.
The eye look featured glossed lids, achieved through a combination of eye gloss and duo-chrome ice blue pigment. The gloss added red carpet shine while the pigment offered a frosty blue shift. Throwing it back to her “bandagecore” moment at Paris Fashion Week, Jennie’s eyes were accentuated with feline flicks. Fluttery false lashes balanced the eye look with drama and definition.
In contrast, the brows were delicately fluffed to softly frame the eyes. As a last step, Jennie’s MUA applied a matte rosy M.L.B.B. (My Lips But Better) lipstick for a pillowy pout.
The Hair
Departing from her signature straight hair looks, Jennie attracted attention with an elaborate hairdo. Her hair was split horizontally at the temples and pulled back for a sleek updo with segments curled and pinned on the head. Creating a dynamic finish and balancing clean lines and dramatic form, the curls and pinned pieces coexisted in harmony. This equilibrium turned this hair look into the ideal complement for Jennie’s glam and tastefully chic outfit.
Once again demonstrating her status as one of the top style giants in the industry, Jennie crafted a Met Gala appearance for the books. We simply can’t get enough of her red carpet style and can’t wait to see where her fashion endeavors take her next.
