ColourPop Debuts Pokémon-Themed Makeup Collaboration
ColourPop Cosmetics released its highly-requested collaboration with Pokémon on May 9. After anticipating the new collection for days, the Los Angeles-based makeup brand dropped a series of products decorated with adorable imagery from the iconic Japanese franchise.
The Collection
ColourPop’s newest collection debuts 14 Pokémon-themed products available for purchase individually or in a complete set — do note, however, that ultra glossy lip glosses are only available in a set of three in the Eeveelution-themed “evolution” kit. These high-shine lip glosses boast a duo-chrome finish and are named after type-specific evolution stones in the Pokémon universe (Jolteon, Flareon, or Vaporeon).
In addition to this lip gloss set, ColourPop launched three pH color-changing lip balms named after moves associated with Pikachu, Ditto, and Jigglypuff, beloved characters of the Pokémon franchise. These sheer balms add a natural pink-toned tint to the lips for a subtle touch of color.

The new collection also features a lip mask delivered in a container shaped after the popular Poké Balls. Meanwhile, three warm-toned cream blushes — in pink, red, and violet — celebrate the franchise protagonist Pikachu as well as lesser-known fan favorites Gengar and Clefable.

Eye Choose You!
The eye product selection is perhaps the most notable part of the Pokémon x ColourPop collection. The “hydro pump,” “solar beam,” and “flamethrower” super shock shadows pay homage to the Pokémon franchise’s original starter trio, Squirtle, Bulbasaur, and Charmander. These shadows are highly pigmented and creamy, facilitating a smooth application.
Last, but certainly not least, the collection’s holy grail is the “pallet town” eyeshadow palette — aptly titled after the hometown from which the main character of the Pokémon animated series, Ash Ketchum, hails. The “pallet town” contains 24 bright eyeshadow shades named after locations, characters, and items from the Pokémon lore.
