Over the last couple of years, Lunar New Year — celebrated under different names in various Asian countries — has become one of the favorite holidays for the fashion and beauty industry. Falling on the second new moon following the Winter Solstice, the festivity marks the beginning of a new year according to the animal zodiac originated in China. This year, January 22 will mark the beginning of the Year of the Rabbit and as one might expect, brands across the spectrum have released special collections to commemorate the occasion. EnVi rounded up some of the most compelling Lunar New Year fashion and beauty releases below.
Miu Miu
Actress and singer Amber Kuo and Miu Miu ambassador Qiu Tian joined forces for “Shine A Light,” Miu Miu’s Lunar New Year campaign. The collection, photographed by Sky, combines existing products with limited edition designs, highlighting bold and feminine silhouettes to evoke festiveness.

Dior Men
Extending their collaboration with ERL for its Spring 2021 collection, Dior Men dropped a selection of new ready-to-wear, accessories, shoes, and bags in commemoration of the Year of the Rabbit. With eye-catching colors like hot pink and red and tastefully incorporated rabbit emblems, the collection combines Dior’s classy attitude and ERL’s playfulness.
Marni
Marni’s Lunar New Year capsule collection, with both menswear and womenswear items, features the work of Flaminia Veronesi. The Italian artist decorated the collection’s pieces with minimalistic rabbit motifs, subtly ringing in the Lunar New Year.
Tommy Hilfiger
To celebrate the Year of the Rabbit, American label Tommy Hilfiger collaborated with Miffy, a small fictional rabbit originally drawn by Dick Bruna. The American brand’s capsule collection features modern, minimalistic, and classic items for every consumer, bringing a touch of cute.
Shu Uemura
Celebrated for its sustainably-sourced ingredients, Japanese brand Shu Uemura is celebrating Lunar New Year with its Spring 2023 “Fireworks Sparks” collection. The new line features a range of products, from lipstick to cleansing oil, fittingly decorated with firework motifs.
Gucci
In celebration of the Year of the Rabbit, Gucci launched a three-part collection — menswear, womenswear, and kidswear — featuring bold colors, flowing silk pieces, and playful rabbit art. The campaign, shot by Max Siedentopf, places models, who are holding real rabbits, against picturesque backdrops to create dreamy visuals.
Charlotte Tilbury
The beauty favorite Charlotte Tilbury celebrates the Year of the Rabbit, adding limited-edition plum-blossom print packaging to some of their most iconic products. The collection includes the award-winning Charlotte’s Magic Cream moisturizer and limited editions of the brand’s most popular lip kits.
Self-Portrait
Self-Portrait’s “Lunar New Year Edit,” shot by Alexandra Leese, highlights traditional elements of the Chinese qipao in bright red and stark white hues. As per the brand’s tradition, the collection also features matching sets, mini dresses, and accessories oozing chic femininity.
MAC Cosmetics
MAC Cosmetics tapped into Lunar New Year staples like the color red and lucky charm motifs in its “New Year Shine” collection. Reimagining some of its best-selling items, the brand offers must-have beauty products in charming and festive packaging.
Pat McGrath Labs
Just like in previous years, Pat McGrath Labs launched a Lunar New Year-inspired limited collection with eye, lip, and face products. Packed in gorgeous containers, the brand offers a selection of products and kits that feature all the good-fortune must-haves — red color, lucky charms, and golden details.
