On June 13, Calvin Klein opened its newest global flagship store at 44 Avenue des Champs-Elysees in Paris. The brand showcased its new “Chalk” design concept in the boutique, opening doors for visitors to immerse themselves in the world of Calvin Klein.
To celebrate the occasion, the brand invited a lineup of global celebrities to be the first to experience the new flagship. Among the notable stars on the guest list, a standout name was K-pop star Kim Mingyu, who turned heads with his monochrome outfit.
The Airport Fit
Kicking off his journey to Paris, Mingyu — who is a member of K-pop group SEVENTEEN — departed from Seoul decked out in head-to-toe Calvin Klein. Opting for comfort, the idol sported a black Calvin Klein logo tee paired with a pair of lightly washed gray jeans. The airport look was topped off with a pair of chunky leather shoes and a CK logogram cap, which bestowed the outfit with a youthful and trendy touch.
Mingyu, however, still oozed poise and youthful sophistication thanks to a simple styling trick — his T-shirt was neatly tucked in and sealed off with a sleek leather belt.
Lesson on Monochrome Chic
Fast forward to the night of the store opening, the K-pop star stepped out in the iconic Avenue des Champs-Elysees in a navy coat and dark blue jeans — a classic monochrome Calvin Klein combo. The look was complemented with a simple tank top and Chelsea boots.
Though the styling formula was rather simple, the focus was on the fit. The coat’s boxy cut added a layer of elegance to a signature Calvin-style fit. To add to the suave image, Mingyu’s hair was styled in a side part with subtle curtain bangs.
This styling combination exuded a ‘90s heartthrob vibe as he stepped into the new Calvin Klein boutique and shared the spotlight with international stars such as Greta Lee and Maluma, with whom Mingyu snapped a few pictures and social media content.
Monochromatic Simplicity
Although Mingyu might be a fresh face in Calvin Klein’s roster of celebrity friends, he has been an avid enthusiast of the brand for years, often opting for denim-on-denim and ton-sur-ton combinations.
On his Instagram, the star has shared several off-duty photos dressed in matching denim sets and embracing the nostalgic full-denim trend — a throwback to the styles of eras past.
Mingyu also sports monochromatic looks on rotation, often picking total black looks to attend events. Case in point: his attendance at the Bulgari Octo pop-up store event in Seoul, where he combined black trousers with a black wool polo shirt.
With a preference for refined and sleek dressing, Mingyu continues to make strides in the fashion and beauty industry. In addition to his recent event appearances in Seoul and Paris, on May 21, the star was appointed as L’Occitane’s first-ever ambassador for Asia. To commemorate the occasion, the K-pop star touched down in Tokyo to visit the L’Occitane flagship store in Shibuya and yes, you guessed it right, he rocked yet another monochrome look.
