grentperez – “Movie Scene”
It’s been a month since grentperez released his collaborative single “Dandelion” with artist Ruel, and he is back with another drop, quickly building anticipation for his album. His new single, “Movie Scene,” is a smooth R&B track, introducing a newer sound to his discography. While listeners might expect a slower and more calming tone from grentperez, “Movie Scene” is dripping with sensuality and sultriness.
In the song’s music video, the artist is seen in a filming studio moving between sets and shooting a scene of his own. While percussion and deep bass carry the song, grentperez’s voice matches them in depth and tone. He moves with fluidity and confidence while singing in the chorus, “When I go to sleep at night / You’re all that’s on my mind / I wish that you were mine.” Grentperez will be releasing his full album, Backflips in a Restaurant, on March 28. He is also set to go on a North American tour beginning on April 21.
47SOUL – “Ghost Town”
Beginning their new single with “My people on fire,” 47SOUL are creating music to protest injustice spreading music with the purpose of protest. “Ghost Town” juxtaposes the pain of loss with the hope of a better tomorrow. The global group’s homelands span across Jordan, London, and the U.S., using their universalism as a form of connection and power. For the “Ghost Town” music video, 47SOUL brought their music to a protest for Palestine, as the video features strong signs, keffiyehs, and flowing Palestinian flags.
The song’s production is fast-paced and focuses on an electronic, anxiety-inducing synth that creates high tension throughout. The impactful lyrics are sung as a chant intertwined with rap, painting the picture of grief traveling with those experiencing a painful war. 47SOUL sing of a widespread suffering as they chant, “Sadness / With me everywhere I go there is a ghost town / I’ve been streaming it live to give you some context / Not everybody consumes sensitive content.” Combining Arabic and English lyrics throughout, 47SOUL are determined to bring their message to audiences everywhere.
Don Toliver, Speedy – “LV Bag (feat. j-hope of BTS & Pharrell Williams)”
J-hope has jumped on Don Toliver’s latest single, “LV Bag,” and it quickly became one of the top trending songs of the week. The electronic hip-hop single was first heard at the Louis Vuitton Fall-Winter 2025 runway show. Pharrell Williams produced the song, but as the menswear creative director for Louis Vuitton since 2023, his presence on “LV Bag” comes as no surprise.
Hailing from Houston, Texas, singer-songwriter and artist Don Toliver leads the song starting with the introductory refrain, continuing with the chorus, and ending solo with the final verse. His distinct voice sometimes serves as a beat within itself for rapper j-hope to harmonize over. With his return from the Korean military, j-hope wasted no time reviving his presence in hip-hop or fashion. As an ambassador for Louis Vuitton, j-hope has never shied away from adorning himself in the brand’s clothing, showing his love for their strong and individual stylistic choices. “LV Bag” brings together a powerhouse of voices and artists and is a song that cannot be missed this week.

BIBI – “Bluebird”
BIBI is taking a break from her sexy persona and showcasing her sweet and soft side with her new single “Bluebird.” As her first single of 2025, “Bluebird” embraces winter while simultaneously wishing for a bright spring. The song is dedicated to her “bluebird,” someone who has left her and she wishes would come back. Though their love may be gone, BIBI expresses that through the winter and the blooming spring, she will always be there for when they return.
The music video for “Bluebird” is as endearing as the song, showing an intimate winter day as BIBI plays in the snow and warms up by the fire. The simplistic and beautiful visuals offer the singer’s true vulnerability and sincerity in the song. Though full of film videos and falling snowflakes, BIBI’s voice is at the video’s focus as she sings, “I’ll go out to meet you with the wind my bluebird / I’ll always be here, so please don’t hesitate.” With the release of “Bluebird” came another season-inspired song as well, titled “Winter (unreleased).”
Alisa Xayalith – “Kiss Me Like You’re So In Love”
Since Alisa Xayalith went to music school in 2007 and debuted as one half of The Naked and Famous in 2008, the music industry is nothing new to her. The artist will fully spread her wings and bloom into a solo career with her future album Slow Crush, to be released on April 4. Growing anticipation for this moment, Xayalith recently dropped her single “Kiss Me Like You’re So In Love.”
Alisa Xayalith is an LA-based, New Zealand-born Laotian artist. With the growth of her self-identity and exploration of more intimate love, she has opened herself to creating songs like “Kiss Me Like You’re So In Love.” Wanting to push off the loss of a lover as long as she can, the song approaches the hesitancy to walk away from someone you want. With dreamy vocals and rock-influenced instrumentals, Xayalith’s latest single brings an unexpected and powerfully vulnerable indie-pop voice to the music scene.
Whyte – “Dating me ain’t hard”
Infused with lo-fi and classical influence, Taiwanese singer-songwriter Whyte is bringing back laid-back music and relaxing bluesy tunes through “Dating me ain’t hard.” With the performance, writing, and sole production credits given to Whyte, it is evident that every ounce of the song was skillfully created under her guidance. Whyte leaned heavily into her slower jazz roots through this single, as a strong sense of jazz and soul lead much of her music.
The lyrics of “Dating me ain’t hard” focus on the singer as she pines after a potential love interest and questions how much they know and feel. At the beginning of the track, Whyte sings, “I analyze every message like a scientist / My brain is playing tricks / Cuz I’m lost in the world of ‘what-if,’” setting the scene for listeners. With lyrics like these, “Dating me ain’t hard” is one of Whyte’s most vulnerable songs yet. As Whyte is typically found in hats and glasses hiding her face, the self-effacing artist puts her feelings and vocals on full display.
Whyte can be found on tour across Taiwan for the remainder of February as well as performing at the Bangkok City Music Festival in March and SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas for her U.S. debut.
DeerMX – “Human\”
Exploring the line between humans and technology, the Hong Kong-based Mexican duo DeerMX loudly expresses their findings in “Human\.” The single embodies a technological mindset with an electronic-rock beat as the singer repeats, “Type ‘chat.humanbeingchat.ai’ / Insufficient information.” The song is meant to represent what it must feel like for machinery, whether a robot or a computer, to attempt to build a human mindset.
“Human\” is the first single of five songs from their new EP, Ai. Ai is the group’s most recent long-form release since their album Fables of Humanity and Mother Nature in 2023. DeerMX expressed in a press release, “When listeners dive into Ai, we hope they can feel exposed to something ‘out of the box’, and find the beauty of the atypical reflected in both the sound and lyrics.” They continued, “This EP is about the questions that are linked to our human nature, and we aim for it to be able to resonate deeply with all our listeners.”
H33RA – “DO OR D!E”
If you’ve been looking for a cool, new R&B singer to gatekeep (or share with your closest friend group), look no further than up-and-coming UK singer, songwriter, and producer H33RA. Having grown up during the golden age of ‘90s and 2000s R&B, H33RA is so much more than your average “Y2K bandwagon” artist; he’s so locked into its authenticity that you wouldn’t even believe his music is from the 2020s. His latest single, “DO OR D!E,” is no different, transporting listeners of various generations back to their childhood, teens, and even young adulthood.
Lyrically, the track represents H33RA’s emotional struggle of having his feelings toyed with by his lover — one minute, he’s decided he’s had enough of her games, and the next, he’s being pulled back into her orbit even when he knows it’s killing him. “Baby, I shoulda told myself to listen / I shoulda trusted intuition / I shoulda / Now I see the light, and lovin’ you is do or die,” he sings in the hook. It’s that regret of knowing something felt off in a relationship but ignoring the red flags out of fear of being right.
With legendary inspirations like Brandy, Darkchild, and Timbaland, H33RA’s “DO OR D!E” might as well have been sonically plucked straight from 2002. Everything from the neo-futuristic production to the nostalgic vocal layering is pure throwback R&B, repackaged for the modern music landscape and created for new and old listeners alike. If you were wondering who’s leading the Y2K R&B resurgence, UK natives like H33RA have it in the bag.
JENNIE – “ExtraL (ft. Doechii)”
K-pop icon JENNIE is hot on the scene with her new collaboration with Grammy-winning artist Doechii for their single “ExtraL.” Packed with empowering lyrics and a fun, dance-provoking beat, the song is for those ready to strut down the street and “run this.” The “ExtraL” music video quickly acquired over seven million views in one day and hit the number one trending spot on YouTube. Within the video, JENNIE and Doechii can be seen in strong power suits surrounded by others adorned in the same outfits and confident poses.
“ExtraL” comes just two weeks before JENNIE’s first full-length studio album, Ruby, is set to drop. The album will have a plethora of collaborations, including with artists like Kali Uchis and Dominic Fike, as heard in her single “Love Hangover.” After the album’s release, JENNIE can be seen on “The Ruby Experience” in Los Angeles, New York City, and Seoul. She will also be headlining Coachella for both weekends, a feat previously accomplished alongside her group BLACKPINK.
RENE – “Same For Me”
“This one goes out to all the girl kissers,” or at least that’s what indie rock artist RENE said about their newest single, “Same For Me.” Hailing from Singapore in all their unapologetically queer spunk, RENE is a rising singer-songwriter determined to show more of their authentic self living as a masc Asian lesbian. When scrolling through their Instagram, it’s clear RENE is secure in their identity and sexuality, and rightfully so, but that wasn’t always the case — the path to self-expression was gradual and, oftentimes, terrifying.
Drawing inspiration from various indie, pop, and rock artists like Phoebe Bridgers, Neck Deep, and beabadoobee, RENE’s music has become far from coy regarding their experiences with same-sex relationships. In their first single of 2025, “Same For Me,” the Singapore native channels their inner romantic in this soft, yet sweet pop-punk track. “When I look at her, my senses come alive / She sees right through me, shades are open wide / Tuned into everything I do, it’s the same for me,” they sing in the chorus. In an Instagram caption for the song’s release, RENE wrote, “This song is inspired by a girl I know who makes boring life stuff fun.” If that doesn’t scream “soulmate,” we don’t know what does.
Other tracks in this week’s Sunday Spin playlist include “ILBB2 (feat. GloRilla)” by Jorjiana, “body” by 88rising, YOUHA, and Warren Hue, and “Taste” by Coco Jones. Listen to everything mentioned and more, curated by Team EnVi only for you on Spotify.
