The air outside Alex Theatre in Glendale, California was filled with anticipation. Inside, rows of NomNoms — fans of Thai actors Jimmy Potiwihok and Sea Tawinan — waited eagerly to see “JimmySea”. Best known for their roles in Vice Versa (2022) and Last Twilight (2023-2024), Jimmy and Sea have become a beloved duo under GMMTV, a leading name in Thai broadcasting with hits like 2Gether (2020), SOTUS (2016), and Bad Buddy (2021). As the artists embarked on their first US and Latin America tour, their only US stop in Los Angeles was an anticipated chance to connect with their international fans.

Bridging Cultures Through Fanmeets

Jimmy and Sea’s  Los Angeles fan meet was a resounding success, with two sessions filled with music, laughter and unforgettable moments for fans meeting the popular duo for the first time. The actors’ charming chemistry and talent were on full display throughout OST performances, Q&A sessions and interactive games.

“I’m extremely excited because this is my first time experiencing this,” Sea told EnVi via e-mail. “Feeling the atmosphere of the fans while we’re on stage — they’re always enjoying themselves and cheering for us — gives me the energy to sing and participate in activities with them.”

JimmySea showcased their musical talents as Jimmy performed a cover “Our Song” by Nanon from Bad Buddy (2021). Meanwhile, Sea serenaded the audience with his rendition of “First Love” by Nont Tanont from My Precious (2023). Fans in the theater swayed to the music, singing along and waving lightsticks in support.

Between performances, Jimmy and Sea engaged with fans through a Q&A session marked by their signature humor. They also introduced the audience to the Thai version of the classic game rock-paper-scissors, giving attendees from diverse backgrounds a glimpse into Thai culture. 

In recent years, Thai entertainment has skyrocketed to worldwide acclaim. Television and film productions have not only reached audiences abroad, but they have also encouraged T-Wave fans to dive into all things Thai.

“What truly impressed me was that almost everyone could sing the theme songs from GMMTV series. And they sang them so clearly,” Jimmy told EnVi. “It showed how GMMTV’s work has had a significant influence, reaching as far as America and Latin America. That was truly surprising.”

The Los Angeles fan meet is just one example of how such events allow international artists to bridge cultures and share their traditions with global fans. As JimmySea’s popularity continues to grow, these personal connections will only strengthen the bond between the artists and their devoted admirers around the world.

First Impressions

Jimmy and Sea, both up-and-coming Thai actors, singers, and models under GMMTV, first captivated audiences in the 2022 series Vice Versa which marked the debut of their pairing, quickly garnering them a dedicated fanbase.

Sea made his acting debut in the 2021 drama 55:15 Never Too Late before landing his breakout role in Vice Versa. Jimmy, on the other hand, joined GMMTV in 2020 and made waves with his first BL project in Bad Buddy (2021). He went on to star Vice Versa and Last Twilight with Sea, and later took on a supporting role in the 2022 drama Enchanté.

During the recent fan meeting, the dynamic duo opened up about their partnership and initial impressions of each other. Sea admitted to feeling initially intimidated by Jimmy, who had pursued studies as a cosmetic dermatologist alongside his flourishing acting career. However, Sea’s apprehension quickly faded as he discovered Jimmy’s caring nature. “But once I got to know him, I realized how kind his heart is. He’s really warm. I can’t quite describe it, but even though he didn’t say it with words, everything he did showed me how much he cared about me,” Sea revealed during the event.

Jimmy, on the other hand, was drawn to Sea’s humility and kind heart from the start. “When I first saw Sea, I thought to myself, ‘This kid has something.’ He’s very humble and kind-hearted too,” Jimmy shared on stage. “He definitely has something really special.”

Exploring L.A. and Connecting with International Fans

As first-timers in Los Angeles, Jimmy and Sea shared highlights from their trip, including visiting Santa Monica Pier, Hollywood, Beverly Hills, and indulging in the quintessential American burgers. The crowd eagerly shouted out food recommendations, with In-N-Out topping the list while they were in California.

“The fans in America are so sweet and welcoming. The vibe in Los Angeles. was fantastic — I really love the city. Although I had never been to L.A. before, I’ve always been fascinated by it since I was a kid, whether through basketball or movies. Finally being there felt surreal,” Jimmy shared with EnVi.

As a die-hard NBA fan, Jimmy expressed disappointment at missing an opportunity to watch a basketball game. “Aside from the fan meet, I really wanted to watch an LA Lakers basketball game because I’m a big fan of the team. Unfortunately, I missed out as we had so many activities scheduled,” Jimmy told EnVi.

Fans worldwide showed their love through a fan project featuring video messages, artwork, and heartfelt tributes to the duo and their series. The pair watched with fondness, thanking their fans for their unwavering support after the presentation. “I’m so happy to have fans supporting and cheering for us no matter where we go for fan meets. I love the moments when we get to spend time doing activities with fans,” Sea shared with EnVi.

Many in the audience had traveled from across the U.S., with some coming from as far as New York and San Diego to be part of the experience. The duo promised to return, expressing a desire to visit cities like New York, Seattle, or Chicago, as fans eagerly shouted out their own hometowns, hoping JimmySea would reach even more of their international supporters.

Eyeing the Horizon

The evening concluded with Jimmy and Sea performing their version of “Last Twilight” by William Jakrapatr, the emotional theme song from their show. The performance was a fitting end to an event that marked a milestone for the duo, who celebrated their shows’ success, with the promise and anticipation for more shows and events in the future.

After the fan meeting, fans interacted more closely with the duo through photo sessions, creating memories that capped off the night before they headed out to Mexico City for the rest of the US-Latin America tour.

As 2024 comes to an end, Jimmy and Sea are already looking towards future projects and more opportunities to connect with fans in 2025. “I want fans to look forward to what we have in store. We’re going to work hard to create content for you to enjoy, and I hope you’ll love it,” Sea told EnVi. “Every award we’ve received is dedicated to all of you. These achievements wouldn’t be possible without your constant support. Both of us will continue working hard to bring happiness to everyone.”

Jimmy echoed the sentiment, asking fans to look forward to his upcoming project My Magic Prophecy which was announced at the Line Up press conference: “Finally, I want to thank all the fans in America, Mexico, and Brazil for their warm welcome and support. I promise we will return to see you all again soon. But for now, I’ll head back to film new series and create more work to bring everyone joy and happiness. See you again soon!”
