TXT are set to make their return! After almost nine months since their last Korean comeback “LO$ER=LO♡ER,” the five-member group marked the beginning of a new era with a logo for their next album: minisode 2: Thursday’s Child, which will be released on May 9 at 6PM KST.
TXT unveiled their latest logo with a brief teaser video on April 13. Through a flash of previous comeback logos and an electric guitar, the video led to a reveal of red and black crosses spelling TXT on a beige background. If the group follows the pattern of their previous logos, these colors will represent the design of their new album. Notably, the heart in the ‘X’ symbol, which marked the centre of the group’s last logo, has now been broken. This possibly implies that the album will have an even more emotional concept. The logo has also become the profile picture on the group’s various social media platforms.
Highly Anticipated
Big Hit confirmed that the group would be releasing an album in early May but at the time, did not confirm the official date. This left their fans, MOA, eagerly waiting at 12 AM KST each day to prepare for the official reveal of the comeback logo.
Therefore, the teaser video was unsurprisingly greeted with great delight as it finally revealed the date that MOA have been waiting for: May 9.
To build the excitement for the upcoming comeback and to show their love for the group, MOA have also been trending various hashtags including #TXT_IS_COMING and #TXT7COMINGSOON.
The End of an Era
The group portrayed a more mature side of themselves through their last album series, The Chaos Chapter. This era began on May 31, 2021 with the group’s second Korean studio album: The Chaos Chapter: FREEZE, which debuted at number five on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums Chart. This album included the pop-rock title track “0X1=LOVESONG (I Know I Love You)” feauturing Korean solo artist, Seori. The lovesick-themed lyrics paired with a dramatic music video and grunge-inspired clothing showed the uniqueness and artistry of the group.
The series concluded with the repackage album The Chaos Chapter: Fight or Escape on August 17, 2021 with the title track “LO$ER=LO♡ER,” which continued the group’s newly established pop-rock sound.
Minisode 2: Thursday’s Child will mark the start of a new TXT era in which the members will undoubtedly showcase their growth and versatility as artists.
From Strength to Strength
Though it has been nine months since an official Korean comeback, the group delivered their first Japanese EP, Chaotic Wonderland on November 10, 2021. The release was another great accomplishment for TXT as it won the Best 3 Albums (Asia) Award at the Japan Gold Disc Awards 2022. The international award highlighted the global popularity of the group, preparing them for further success and support for their upcoming album.
Since then, the members of the group also pursued solo activities. The maknae of the group, Heuningkai, released a cover of “Sk8er Boi” which received support from the original singer Avril Lavigne, who described it as an “amazing cover.” Member Beomgyu also released a cover of ADOY’s “Wonder” as a gift for MOA on his birthday in March. Additionally, the eldest member, Yeonjun, has been working diligently in his new role as an MC for the music show Inkigayo.
What’s Next?
Following trends from TXT’s previous comebacks, MOA can expect various thought-provoking videos and creative teaser images to be revealed soon to establish the theme for the album release in May. The members have kept their lips sealed regarding any major spoilers, leaving it up to fans to question whether they may have subtly teased anything. However, whether it is a punk-rock genre following the last era or the group returns to a brighter pop sound like their debut single “CROWN,” Taehyun has assured fans that the album will be a masterpiece.
