Whatever popular trend or style staple you can think of, Thai superstar Win Metawin has probably worn it and rocked it. His latest public appearance was, of course, no exception. The fashion darling stepped out in Bangkok to attend the opening of Prada’s new womenswear store at Siam Paragon. And he did it in style, dressed in this season’s hottest fashion item: the suede jacket.
Trendsetter Win
There’s not a time Win Metawin’s style goes unnoticed. The Thai actor never fails to deliver wardrobe inspiration and style lessons, opting for the trendiest colors and most coveted items. In his most recent Prada commitment — the star has been a brand ambassador since 2023 — Win made a case for timeless, season-appropriate style.
Win favored a fall-leaning look featuring black pleated trousers and a peachy crew neck sweater — Pantone color of the year, anyone? The styling, however, took a spin with the addition of a pair of cognac-colored lace-up boots and this year’s must-have item: a suede jacket.
Suede Is In Now
ICYMI, suede in all forms and shapes has taken over the runways in 2024. From the Western-infused renaissance of fringed jackets to the revival of all things boho-chic, suede started populating the fashion capitals’ runways and streets as early as January. In the last couple of months, however, suede has experienced a popularity spike.
Back in August, shopping platform Lyst reported that searches for “suede” saw a 263% increase, with “suede bags” attracting special attention — a 175% surge in searches.
But not everything is about suede bags. Suede sneakers, jackets and accessories have caught the eye of our dearest brands and stars. We saw Bella Hadid donning a large suede trenchcoat, Miu Miu popularizing the Arcadie suede bag and, of course, Prada sending suede pieces down their most recent runway. Not to mention that the Puma Speedcat shoe, which is crafted in suede, is rapidly rising as the it-sneaker of 2024.
Fall-Trendy
With fall in full force in the northern hemisphere, suede jackets make a perfect addition to any stylish person’s wardrobe. And if we go by Win, who’s one of the world’s arbiters of good taste, we’ll be seeing a lot of them in the next couple of months.
In fact, Win has been pioneering the trend for a long time now. The Under Parallel Skies star gave suede his stamp of approval back in 2023 when he first started introducing suede jackets into his lookbook. He opted for a suede blazer to attend the Prada Extends celebration in Bangkok and since then, we’ve spotted Win donning different iterations of this closet staple at events and public appearances. Talk about being an early adopter of trends!
