Olivia Rodrigo – “drop dead”

The pop princess has returned to her throne! Olivia Rodrigo has dropped her latest single, “drop dead,” ahead of her third studio album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love. The synth-pop track, paired with a hazy rock sound, captures the rush of having a new crush. Throughout the song, Rodrigo leans into daydreams about where the romance could go, from “‘Cause I always had a vision of us standing like this / All pressed up in the bathroom line” to playful “Pisces and a Gemini / But I think we might go really nice together.” The single leaves you feeling light and caught up in the fun of falling in love, even if it feels like you might “drop dead” if it all comes to fruition.
“Drop dead” has the kind of energy that makes you want to skip down the street, blast it through your headphones, and dance like no one’s watching. Rodrigo taps into that feeling in the music video, where she frolics through the Palace of Versailles in a baby-doll dress. This tease into Rodrigo’s next era, and first album centered on love, is exciting and already feels like a contender for album of the year.
TAEYONG feat. Anderson .Paak – “Rock Solid”

TAEYONG is back, and this time he joins forces with all-rounder Anderson .Paak for his new single “Rock Solid.” The hip-hop track, produced by Dem Jointz, runs on bass, drums, and energy that never slows down. TAEYONG’s delivery is playful and commanding. Paak slides in with flow, adding a bounce to the track. His repeated “rock solid” chant doubles as an earworm and a heart beat.
The music video matches the energy with a fresh, fun take on retro ‘90s hip-hop styled like camcorder footage. TAEYONG appears in a sailor uniform on a yacht, performing the song with a band. The song also marks his first official drop in two years, following his completion of military service in the navy. If “Rock Solid” is any sign of what’s coming on his anticipated album in May, there is plenty to look forward to.

Yves – “NAIL (feat. Lolo Zouaï)”

Breakout Korean soloist Yves is transcending musical boundaries in her latest EP, NAIL. The EP’s title track and namesake aligns with the alternative pop sound Yves has been consistently exploring since her debut. “NAIL (feat. Lolo Zouaï)” carries a more hip-hop adjacent energy featuring a hypnotic drum loop and resonant bass. French-born American artist, Lolo Zouaï, hops on the second verse with a more rap-like flow than Yves’ delivery in the first verse.
The song’s title, “NAIL,” can be interpreted as urging someone to not worry about minor inconveniences and bask in the moment. Yves sings in the first verse: “Tap, tap, nails snapped off, mood’s sinkin’ / Girl you ain’t Cinderella / If you wanna elevate, follow my step ‘cause I’m / Takin’ the night.” “NAIL” is also a homonym for the word “tomorrow” in Korean (내일, naeil) — making the title a clever double entendre. If you want the night to last a little longer before tomorrow arrives, “NAIL” is here to fit that mood.

Tyla – “SHE DID IT AGAIN (ft. Zara Larsson)”
It’s all glitter, glitz, and glam this week now that IT-girls Tyla and Zara Larsson have officially teamed up with “SHE DID IT AGAIN.” After the two were together on multiple occasions earlier this year, fans speculated a collaboration, and it may be better than anticipated. “SHE DID IT AGAIN” is a confession of how addicting the love of Tyla and Zara truly is, and once people taste it, they’re hooked. During the flowing chorus, the pair take turns singing, “Uh-oh, uh-oh, ‘She did it again’ / Even when you feel like you can / You can’t get me out of your head.”
With wind-blown hair, shaking hips, and natural glam, the two women are the focal point of the song’s music video. The video is reminiscent of the 2000s as rain falls around the singers and they dance along dripping walls. If the full body shimmer is any indication of how hot Tyla and Zara are about to make our playlists, summer may have just come early.

Mad Tsai – “DIET”
With his new club-pop track “DIET,” Mad Tsai has taken over the pop, vampire, and fan-edit communities. Even though the song was only released this Friday, “DIET” is no stranger to social media after the artist released a teaser five weeks ago. Suddenly, edits with the mantra, “Boy, I wanna make you my diet,” started circulating and building anticipation for the song’s release.
“DIET” is now ready to fully sweep through clubs, raves, and playlists, as it’s even more electronic than what fans originally got a sneak peek of. While the first half of the song is heavily reliant on vocals, the second half switches to a jumpy techno-heavy beat. This cheekily plays off the line “hips syncopating” as the vocals and beat start to fervently battle for the spotlight. Created through the concept of “hot gay vampires,” “DIET” is a song that’s irresistible and certainly something to sink your teeth into.
Chloe Star – “call you back”

One of EnVi’s Artists to Watch in 2025, independent artist Chloe Star continues her monthly delivery of new music with her single, “call you back.” The track is daring in every sense, from rock instrumentation to bold vocals. In a press release, Chloe described the song’s concept of a girlfriend cheating on her with a man who resembles her. “On the surface, we’re the same: same vibe, same clothes, same scene,” she explained. “But the song is me calling out the difference between looking the part and actually showing up.”
The music video follows Chloe in a rewound tale of vengeance. Chloe is seen in the backseat of a police car, and her crime? The murder of the partner her ex had cheated on her with. With a tough rock sound and even tenacious attitude, Chloe voices her grievances. “He’s just another man… But I’m your biggest fan,” she cries out. While her ex is visibly devastated with ruined makeup, Chloe shows no remorse for her actions. Chloe is defiant up until the song’s final lines, even as she sings, “He’s everything you hate / I’m everything you wish you had,” in a delicate voice. If you’re looking for another song to vent frustration to, let Chloe Star, “call you back.”
Xdinary Heroes – “Voyager”

Have you recently found yourself spiralling into an existential crisis? Take a deep breath and let Xdinary Heroes sing their words of affirmation to you. The K-rock band returns with their new EP Dead And, aiming to spread a message of hope best captured in their title track, “Voyager.” Despite the upbeat electronic melody woven throughout, the lyrics address devastation and finding strength to move forward. There is beauty amidst destruction, as the chorus reminds listeners, “Like a star does, when it dies / Will burst into brilliant light.”
Xdinary Heroes complements their sound with celestial and futuristic visuals in their music video. Viewers are reminded of the universe’s vastness as the band performs surrounded by sand and stars. In contrast, the video also shows a lone older man, stuck mulling in a dark room. Xdinary Heroes and the man are shown as separated by time, but are connected by music. Confidence shines from the older man, as he overcomes his burnout and decides to play his guitar once again. Assurance and comfort close out the chorus, “Even if the ends come, won’t forget / We’ll glow again.” Rather than focusing on sand slipping through an hourglass, Xdinary Heroes reminds us to look forward to making our own new beginnings.
Nao Yoshioka and Bilal – “Shadow”

Born and raised in Japan, Nao Yoshioka is ready for the world to hear her soulful vocals. Her latest release, “Shadow,” is a collaboration with neo-soul pioneer Bilal. The two artists’ vocals are dripped in depth and power as they command the contemporary R&B beat. Their emotional vocal delivery is gripping as they navigate their inner emotions around the framework of psychologist Carl Jung.
“‘Shadow’ was born as I confronted my own weaknesses following my previous album,” Yoshioka explained in a press release. “When I decided not to ‘overcome’ the weaknesses I had long denied, but instead to ‘love’ them, my emotions strangely began to feel free […] When it truly sank in that even the parts of myself I didn’t want to see were still part of who I am, I felt a deep sense of clarity and decided to write a song around the themes of ‘Shadow’ and ‘Self.’”
Yoshioka uses music as a vessel for introspection, and her upcoming album, Self, is shaping up to be a testament to that philosophy. “Shadow” is the third single to drop from this project, following the intimate “You Got to Feel It” which features class-acts such as saxophonist Braxton Cook and Dutch producer Bnnyhunna. Yoshioka doesn’t just create soul music — she creates music to speak to the soul.
no na – “rollerblade”

Need a hype team to get you going throughout the week? Indonesian pop girl group, no na, is swiftly on their way to remind us to walk everywhere with confidence. Their newest single, “rollerblade” fuses traditional Indonesian instruments and reggaeton to get your heart pumping and body dancing. “Demonstration, I’m the teacher / Simon says, ‘Follow the leader’” they sing in the first verse, declaring themselves as the ideal everyone desires. Rather than follow the crowd, no na decides to set their own pace.
No na show off their synchronized choreo in the music video as they time their stomps with the percussion’s dangdut sound. Each formation allows the members to play off each other’s movements. “Boy, stop, hit ’em with the red light / Hot walk, swerve on ’em, I just might,” they sing in the second verse. As the four slide their feet along like being on rollerblades, they refuse to give men attention as they do their own thing. No na are just here to “rollerblade” and invite listeners to do the same.
Jordan Anthony – “Wrong Impression”

From former Top 14 on American Idol contestant to singer-songwriter, Australian artist Jordan Anthony continues to express vulnerability through music. Gearing up for his debut album later this year, “Wrong Impression” is Jordan Anthony’s latest single touching on heartbreak. In a press release, Jordan revealed that the song was based on his experience with his first breakup. “It’s that realization of ‘how did I get this so wrong?’ and how everything can change so fast,” he explained.
From the instrumental alone, listeners are clued into Jordan’s need for catharsis. The track begins as a soft ballad, with Jordan’s voice heavy with longing accompanied by piano. Presented akin to a monologue, “Wrong Impression,” allows listeners to relate to Jordan’s grief. He questions the cause of conflict in the relationship, but comes to find acceptance. Verse by verse instruments are added, creating a brighter tone. In contrast, Jordan’s voice becomes more resolute, as he sings, “Thought it was written in the stars / I guess I got the wrong impression.” For all those who are hurting from a breakup, “Wrong Impression” may just be the anthem you need for release.
Other tracks in this week’s Sunday Spin playlist include “StoryTime” by Dena, “Take Turns” by Zayn, and “Tabi!” by dwta. Listen to everything mentioned and more, curated by Team EnVi only for you on Spotify.
