September might be right around the corner but Sunday Spin is still delivering the heat! EnVi rounded up the hottest tunes from around the globe to keep your heavy rotation on fire. Whether youโre celebrating the end of the summer, or cozying into fall with sentimental tunes, this weekโs Sunday Spin covers all the bases.
NCT 127 – โBlingyโ
Citizens of Neo City, rejoice! NCT 127 returned with their seventh full-length album, BLINGY, packed with kaleidoscopic sounds and punchy lyricism. After their explosive pre-release track, โPiรฑata,โ NCT 127 amp up the action with their title-track and album namesake, โBlingy.โ This new track falls right in line with the experimental โNeoโ sound theyโve grown synonymous with over the span of their career. โBlingyโ brings forth an eclectic blend of synths with hard-hitting drums for a song that keeps the energy pumping throughout its runtime. The pre-chorus dials down the intensity for a moment, highlighting the unitโs vocal prowess, before building up to the infectious chorus.
The chant-inducing chorus shares their ambition: โUnder bursting sparks, feelinโ real blingy / Bringinโ that bounce, make the whole club shimmy / Ooh blingy (Blingy), yes on my city (Hey) / Iโma big dog, fire it up higher heat it Hey, hey).โ For NCT 127, โBlingyโ represents how the sparkle that we seek in our lives isnโt something outward facing, but rather something that shines within. NCT 127 are now a decade into their career, and this new project proves their โblingโ wonโt dull anytime soon.
Olivia Rodrigo – โserena joyโ
Only two months after the release of her third studio album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, and five days before the debut of her all-women Daisy Chain Festival, Olivia Rodrigo has released โserena joy.โ The title references Serena Joy Waterford, a famously known character from Margaret Atwoodโs book and the eventual television show The Handmaid’s Tale. As a character who has come to understand the uprising of other women, Serena Joy is someone who grows into her rebellion rather than being innately attuned to it.
Within Rodrigoโs โserena joy,โ the characterโs development and dawning understanding are evident in the chorus as the singer repeats, โIf they do it to them / Theyโll do it to you.โ Therefore, โserena joyโ is a direct call-out to the women who support systems and values that actively harm and belittle their own kind. It also acts as a distinct warning that the oppressors will never not see the oppressed as equal, no matter what they say or do. This is understood by Serena Joy when, ultimately, she becomes a victim of the patriarchy she once supported.
The singer also announced on her Instagram that โa portion of all net proceeds go to Daisy Chain Fields Fund,โ which comprises non-profits that aim to advocate for the rights of women and young girls.
Rin – โi remember everythingโ
This week, Rin invited everyone to fall down the rabbit hole and into her memories, but mostly to listen and learn, in her new single โi remember everything.โ In her whimsical short film trailer, Rin presents herself as the main character. In the story, she is happy and someone who has a lot of love, even plenty to share. Though, she explains, like glitter, grief can still be found in her mind no matter how far she heals or how much happiness and love consumes her as well. Itโs then that she realizes that she remembers everything: every touch, feeling, and moment.
On Instagram, Rin introduced the trackโs debut by explaining, โThis song was meant to remind myself that it is so okay to have a bad day and think about all the bad things of the past (in moderation lol) because it highlights the happiness I feel now. I hope it can be of any help to you too.โ This acknowledgement of the harder moments can be found in lines like โWhen he touches me / I still feel your sting,โ and โYou moved upstate / And I carried all your weight.โ Even though Rin remembers everything, she is still moving on and toward brighter things, including a new EP titled dearest diary.

Dionela – โMonday Afternoonโ
If the feeling of โloveโ was sonically transformed, it might just sound like Dionelaโs latest single. โMonday Afternoonโ is an acoustic slow-jam oozing with romance. The song opens with a mythical-like ambiance, with cinematic violin and piano before Dionelaโs sweet vocals kick in.
Typically known for his Tagalog R&B tunes, this song is a refreshing departure from the Filipino artistโs more popular catalogue. The reason behind this more sentimental sound can be attributed to the songโs heartwarming backstory. โMonday Afternoonโ was penned right before Dionela hit the wedding aisle, which then became his vows for his newly wedded wife.
He professes in the chorus: โEven if I canโt find the words, / darling, my love will speak for me / Crazy how everything just works, / as if they were meant to be / Oh, god must be smiling, / the One behind the scenes.โ The release of this single was followed by multiple videos explaining how this tender moment came together. Dionela can be found singing his vows in a video with the text: โA few hours before our wedding, I stopped chasing perfect vowsโฆ and just wrote her a love song just like I always do.โ Now, this intimate moment is shared for the whole world to bask in their love too.
The Linda Lindas – โEverybody Told Meโ
Returning with their third studio album, GOTTA GET OUT, and standout single, โEverybody Told Me,โ The Linda Lindas are solidifying themselves as a punk band to have on your playlist. Comprised of guitarist Lucia de la Garza, bassist Eloise Wong, guitarist Bella Salazar, and drummer Mila de la Garza, The Linda Lindas sit in the discomfort of finding yourself, while also not finding anything.
Within โEverybody Told Me,โ the band faces what society tells them to do: โShut up, sit down / Listen, don’t shout, shout / Breathe in, breathe out.โ Though succumbing to what is wanted of them, they also counteract this with statements such as, โThe smiles I wear never fit / Losing sleep, I just feel sick.โ Motifs like this are common in the music of The Linda Lindas, but โEverybody Told Meโ acts as a session of relief through being open, honest, and blunt. As four people of the younger generation, they reflect that all they have is time, but the idea that others are telling them how to spend it still remains true.
GOTTA GET OUT is filled with empathic, youth-led ideology such as this and isnโt an album to be overlooked. Their debut album, Growing Up, was referred to as โa combination of wholesome and fierceโ by The New York Times, while their second album, No Obligation, was called “an inspiring example of rock & roll spirit” by Rolling Stone. Punk rock is alive and well and GOTTA GET OUT is a fresh example of exactly that.
Rivkah Reyes – โMenaceโ
Self-awareness and self-destruction come head to head in Rivkah Reyesโs new single release, โMenace.โ As the title implies, the singer-songwriter is self-declaring herself as a complete menace in this dreamy indie-pop-rock ballad. In her carefully crafted lyrics, she captures the contradiction of knowing exactly what youโre doing wrong without having the will or desire to end it. The cycle of destructive habits and choosing them anyway takes the main form of romance, as she explores the ways love can become its own addiction and heighten the impulses she knows she should control.
The track was actually inspired by a rooftop hookup with an ex where Reyes was fully conscious that she was repeating a vicious cycle. โAs a person in recovery, I know a thing or two about replacing one addiction with another. For me, relationships have definitely been one of them,โ she explains on the songโs conception. Rather than framing self-awareness as the solution, Rivkah Reyes transforms messiness into something dreamy and explosively lustral with โMenace.โ
Ink Waruntorn, BILLKIN – โเธเธฅเธเนเธฒเธเนเธเธตเธขเธ (Love Effects)โ
With summer slipping away, fall yearning is back in session. Ink Waruntorn and BILLKIN take a spin at the solemn emotion with a high-energy city-pop twist. โเธเธฅเธเนเธฒเธเนเธเธตเธขเธ (Love Effects)โ dives into the giddy ache of being so deeply in love that a moment apart feels unbearable. Together, they turn separation anxiety into a lovesick withdrawal โ a side effect of caring too much. Leaving behind melancholy, the duo blooms their longing with buoyant synths, melodies, and an infectious groove that makes missing someone feel akin to falling for them. Their warm, honey vocals give the song a romantic push-and-pull that mirrors two people hopelessly attached. โเธเธฅเธเนเธฒเธเนเธเธตเธขเธ (Love Effects)โ is bright, playful, and undeniably romantic, proving that sometimes the sweetest side effect of love is wanting more of it.

JENNIE – โFALLEN ANGELโ
After dominating festivals with her club anthems, superstar soloist JENNIE slows the tempo with her newest track, โFALLEN ANGEL.โ With production by singer songwriter Deb Never, Daniel Aged (Frank Ocean, Camila Cabello), and former BROCKHAMPTON member Romil Hemnani; โFALLEN ANGELโ is a breezy acoustic pop hit that incorporates future-forward electronic elements. JENNIE begs in the lyrics for that special someone to stay by her side in promise of a greater future: โHey, canโt you stay? / Donโt leave a fallen angel out here on her own / Find a place / Wherever we land is where we turn into a home.โ The track is melancholic, but its blend of genres make for an easy listen perfect for scenic drives or just lounging around.
The fantasy-driven music video directed by the masterful SUNBURNKIDS isnโt one to miss. The music video features JENNIE in a series of sets woven together by dramatic cinematography. It begins with a child maturely reflecting on how the world is affected by greed, yet she remains optimistic about โtaking flight.โ In the end, it all comes together as a message of perseverance.
