While in the middle of covering New York Fashion Week, EnVi’s Editor-in-Chief Azadeh Valanejad and Photo Editor/Art Director Niamh Murphy got a last-minute opportunity to spend some time with Big Ocean.

Made up of PJ, Chanyeon, and Jiseok, the K-pop group is no stranger to EnVi. If you’ve been following us for a while, you already know we love ourselves some Big Ocean, and we’ve worked with the members before across concert recaps, studio portrait shoots, fun social videos, and exclusive interviews.

This time around, Big Ocean were in New York for a major first: their New York Fashion Week debut with designer Andy Yu. The group presented the Big Ocean x Andy Yu collection during New York Men’s Day before heading into another shoot featuring looks from the collection.

That’s where we came in.

Tucked away on the 60th floor of a staged Lower Manhattan apartment, with floor-to-ceiling windows and a 360 degree view stretching across the city, Azadeh and Niamh captured some of the behind-the-scenes moments happening in between the official shots.

Check out some of our favorite moments with Big Ocean below:

The afternoon started high above Lower Manhattan, where floor-to-ceiling windows turned the city into part of the set. As the team got situated around the apartment, Big Ocean moved between setups while we captured the shoot from just outside the frame.
PJ stepped in front of the windows first, pairing a dark short-sleeve shirt and striped tie with the city far below. The pared-back styling offered a quieter start before the collection’s more embellished pieces began making their way in front of the camera.
Next, Chanyeon traded the darker palette for a cream shirt and slim black tie, styled with relaxed black trousers. Against the apartment’s warm light and panoramic windows, the look played with traditional menswear proportions without feeling too buttoned-up.
Denim became a major throughline throughout Big Ocean and Andy Yu’s collaboration. On Jiseok, a structured blue jacket brought one of the collection’s clearest nods to classic American denim, reworked through the more ornate, military-influenced lens that defined the collection.
PJ, Chanyeon, and Jiseok came together for one of the first group setups, each in a distinctly different take on the collection including floral appliqués, layered denim, structured tailoring, and decorative details.
The collection’s romantic side came into sharper focus on Chanyeon, whose dark jacket was covered with oversized blue floral detailing.
Jiseok leaned into one of the afternoon’s most dramatic styling moments framed against the window and warm-toned chair with an oversized burgundy bow layered over a lighter look.
PJ took a seat by the window in one of the afternoon’s more dressed-up looks, pairing a black jacket with silver detailing and white shorts
As the shoot continued, the room stayed busy with outfit changes, touch-ups, and everyone getting ready for the next setup.

And of course, the guys had to get a few photos of their own. Big Ocean squeezed in a quick selfie between shots.

Of course, the night didn’t end there. Big Ocean headed on to the after-party, but we’ll save that story for another day. Stay tuned to EnVi’s Instagram for more photos and videos from the night, with even more Big Ocean content coming soon.
