From exciting news to the most compelling figures and buzz-worthy trends, EnVi looks back at the very Best of 2024. In this installment, EnVi revisits some of the best makeup, hair and nail celebrity looks of the year.
The last stretch of the year generally inspires people to look back at the past 365 days in search of enlightenment or reflection. At EnVi, this time of the year encourages us to revisit some pressing questions. What were the most remarkable moments and people? How did trends evolve? What or who sparked conversations? And, of course, why?
Strictly speaking about beauty, this year, the global panorama delivered food for thought aplenty. There were divisive trends, retro-style revivals and conversations that prompted us to rethink how we approach beauty and engage with trends, influencers and brands. On the brighter side of things, however, the beauty and entertainment industry teemed with activity, delivering standout looks, memorable moments and inspiration for us to reinvent ourselves in 2025.
As we eagerly anticipate the New Year and whatever it brings in terms of beauty, we recap the most notable celebrity makeup and hairstyles of 2024.
Natty’s frosty eye look
Although frosty blue eyeshadow was commonplace in the early aughts — popularized by Y2K pop stars like Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera — the beauty world saw its renaissance in 2023 and well into 2024. K-pop singer Anatchaya Suputhipong (stage name Natty) was among the stars who made a case for this beauty comeback.
Natty gave the trend a Gen Z update in the music video of Kiss of Life’s “Sticky.” For a present-day twist, the singer swapped the traditional blue shadow with a subtle pastel aqua pigment that highlighted the inner corners of the eyes. Glossy lips, body glitter, and a colorful Louis Vuitton monogram bodysuit completed the ensemble, creating the perfect nostalgia-driven look.
People say some things are better left in the past, but Natty proved blue eyeshadow doesn’t belong to that list.
Karol G’s fairycore beauty
Although the TikTok micro aesthetic saw its heyday in 2021, Colombian singer Karol G made a case for fairycore during her Met Gala debut. The “Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido” singer embodied the night’s theme, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” by reimagining beauty elements such as long mermaid waves, prosthetic elven ears and pearlescent makeup.
Throughout the years, we’ve witnessed so many Met Gala debuts and yet, Karol’s appearance quickly became one of our all-time favorites. The reason? The refined use of fantasy elements, the perfect balance between bold fashion and delicate beauty and, of course, La Bichota’s charismatic presence. We’re obsessed!
Khushi Kapoor’s sleek ponytail
Indian actress Kushi Kapoor joined the ‘70s hair revival to attend the GQ Most Influential Young Indians event in April. For the occasion, Kushi slicked back the entirety of her hair into a perky updo reminiscent of Cher’s iconic ponytail.
In case you need a refresher, in the 1970s, slicked-back ponytails followed a straight and narrow path or featured voluminous curved ends. Kushi updated the retro look by adding almost imperceptible hair texture. The Hindi film star then found the coolest matches for her hair: a bold red lip, rosy-leaning eyeshadow and a crop jacket and shorts set with vintage influences.
Whoever said the perfect empowerment look didn’t exist, has clearly never seen Kushi.
Leigh-Ann Pinnock’s take on blonzer
English singer Leigh-Ann Pinnock recreated pop diva Diana Ross’ beauty repertoire for a night celebrating the fashion collaboration between Disney and Balmain. In honor of the Lion King’s 30th anniversary, which prompted this team up, Leigh-Ann sang “Can You Feel The Love Tonight” at the Royal Albert Hall.
Pinnock revived blonzer makeup for her appearance on the red carpet. The trend consists of using a blush shade that rides the fine line of blush and bronzer — hence the name. The blush is meant to coat the portions of the cheeks that are naturally exposed to the light, giving the wearer a sun-kissed complexion.
Aligning with the trend, Pinnock sported diffused terracotta cheeks. The rouge focussed on her outer cheeks for a natural upswept look. In parallel, the color added warmth to the face and subtle definition, bringing the best of both bronzer and blush. We love the beauty hack!
Jisoo’s Take on Coquette
Trust Korean singer and actress Kim Jisoo to take over Paris Fashion Week with her fashion and beauty looks every single time. In a year marked by the emergence of trends like Siren Office and the lasting impact of coquettecore, Jisoo raised the stakes by mixing both styles to attend Dior’s FW24 show.
Jisoo’s appearance was an ode to all the trending styles at the beginning of 2024. There was a mini short suit, a polka dot tie, Oxford shoe-style platforms and then, serving as juxtaposition, hyperfeminine glam. The singer sported rosey-toned makeup and a classic black manicure, letting her hair take center stage.
Channeling her cutest side, Jisoo donned a pair of long braided pigtails. To accentuate her face, the look featured softly curled hair tendrils and black ribbons tied into bows — her spin on dark coquette. Seriously, what’s not to love about this look?

Liza Soberano’s clean girl bun
Filipina actress Liza Soberano modified the clean girl bun for her appearance at the Ho Chi Minh International Film Festival. Although the trend peaked between 2022 and 2023, slicked-back buns have retained popularity over the past year. The Make It With You star revisited the hairstyle, but added a twist by altering the hair part. Instead of going for the Gen Z-approved middle part, Soberano opted for a side part. And she pulled it off so elegantly we couldn’t leave her out of this list.
On the glam front, Soberano went for spiky manga lashes and terracotta red lipstick to complement the hair look. Her makeup look served as a prime example of modifying makeup trends to best suit the wearer—the terracotta lip color emulated the viral cherry cola lip trend without disrupting Liza’s clean and timeless glam. Yes, this one is a 10/10.
Jeff Satur’s Statment Nails
Thai singer Jeff Satur tried his hand at acrylic nails, boyfriend blush and smokey eyeshadow on the June edition of Men’s Folio Thailand. Titled “Out of Bounds,” the issue traversed beyond the lines of Satur’s usual fashion and the beauty techniques were on par with the avant-garde outfits.
Compared to the manicures sported by male celebrities in recent years, Satur’s nails stood out for their stiletto shape and bold finish. Chrome powder, vampy polish, and metallic appliques added uniqueness to each of his nails.
The accompanying glam amplified the androgynous aesthetic. The actor’s makeup featured the popular boyfriend blush placement, black eyeshadow and a matte lip to match. What’s not to love about this beauty combination?
Rosé’s ‘80s-leaning curls
South Korean pop star Rosé underwent a style transformation in 2024. Hint: it included disco curls. Always in for a style change and departing from her loose waves and signature ponytails, the star incorporated tightly curled hairstyles at countless fashion events and promotional material, including a front-row appearance at Paris Fashion Week and the music video of her viral hit “APT.”
And yes, we all loved those moments, but Rosé’s most notable curly hair moment was her first solo album announcement. For the occasion, Rosé unveiled a cover that showed her gazing at the camera through curly blonde tendrils; the word rosie in red text accompanied the image. Though Rosé’s look gave us a brief throwback to the ‘80s, upon further observation, her hair was refreshingly modern. The curls remained tight with a soft-matte finish (unlike retro curls) and the accompanying makeup tapped into two of the year’s hottest trends: igari makeup and pearl highlighter.
Armed with this new image — part coquette and part indie rockstar — Rosé ushered in a new and very successful chapter in her career. Number one girl, indeed!
Felix’s Glowy Skin
While we’re always in for some innovative beauty trick, there’s quite nothing like natural beauty. That was the theme celebrity makeup artist Pat McGrath tapped into to craft the glam for Louis Vuitton’s FW24 show. And yes, the results — as shown by K-pop superstar Felix Lee — had us eagerly anticipating the official beauty breakdown.
Felix’s Paris Fashion Week was impactful in its own right, but the beauty — a mix of no-makeup makeup and subtle highlights — brought the look to the next level. McGrath focused on achieving glowy skin and enhancing the singer’s best features. Highlighter and a rosy cheek sculpt were the focal points of this beauty routine, creating an ethereal complexion. Then, barely-there eye shimmer and clear gloss enhanced Felix’s eyes and lips.
Paired with his platinum blonde hair and his star power, Felix’s beauty look was one for the books — and the covers of magazines. And though, of course, Felix’s fans might argue the K-pop star will look good in practically anything (and they do have a point) the real impact of this look was how it prompted many to rethink unnatural full coverage foundation and embrace minimal glam.
Check out this step-by-step give to recreate Felix’s glam at the Louis Vuitton Fall Winter 2024 show.

Freen Sarocha’s take on red Carpet makeup
Rising Thai actress Sarocha Chankimha (also known by the mononym Freen) is one of our favorite sources of beauty inspiration, so naturally, her first montée des marches at the 77th Cannes Film Festival was a big deal. For the momentous occasion, Freen coasted the red makeup wave to La Croisette.
Freen looked ethereal at the premiere of Jacques Audiard’s Emilia Perez. And it wasn’t just the gorgeous Eman Alajlan dress. What truly brought the look to the next level was her rosy-toned makeup, clearly influenced by the hyper-feminine aesthetics thriving in 2024. Freen’s glam featured rosy cheeks, juicy tanghulu lips, subtle amounts of glitter on the inner corner of the eyes, and thick but flattering liner.
The combination brought together the best of beauty and fashion and in case you haven’t noticed yet, we’re still talking about Freen’s red carpet moment although the year is soon coming to an end. Yes, Freen’s Cannes debut was that impactful!
Heart Evangelista’s burgundy lip
And speaking of impact, Pinoy multi-hyphenate Heart Evangelista created a social media frenzy last September when she stepped out in Milan for the Fendi SS 2025 show. The world-renowned fashionista had the world wondering what her lipstick shade was when pictures of her front-row look made it to the internet.
Thankfully, makeup artist, Memay Francisco, revealed the lip product’s identity on Instagram. The single photo of the Pat McGrath Labs MatteTrance™ Lipstick in McMenamy 200 triggered a phenomenon. The exact lipstick shade quickly sold out on major retail websites like Sephora Philippines.
Now, we don’t know about you, but Team EnVi swears by Pat McGrath Labs, so we understand the craze — especially if the person prompting it is our favorite Filipina style icon.

Apo’s Shiny Slicked-Back
More often than not, less is more and that was exactly the rule Thai star Apo Nattawin went by for his appearance at the Piaget Essence of Extraleganza in Dubai. Apo, who is an ambassador for the Swiss brand, took the classy route for the event with an all-white ensemble.
The sleek white suit Apo chose for the occasion found its perfect complement on equally sleek grooming. Departing from the voluminous side part look he’s made his signature, Apo sported a shiny slicked-back hairstyle. Refined, simple and yet a total attention-stealer, Apo’s hair proved the enduring appeal of classic haircuts and how the modern man can reinterpret them for every occasion.
We couldn’t expect anything else from one of the most stylish men in the biz!
G-Dragon’s “Power” Look
Everybody updated with pop culture conversations knows of K-pop star G-Dragon’s fashion prowess. Always at the vanguard of all things style, the singer is one of the best-dressed celebs worldwide. His trendsetting spirit, however, is not limited to clothing.
When it comes to beauty, G-Dragon is equally savvy — and we got the receipts. His return to the music scene via the energetic anthem, “Power,” was accompanied by a slew of beauty statements. Red bold hair, multicolored manicures, nail art and the perfect demure eye makeup brought G.D’s beauty game under the spotlight.
We might not be able to recreate his wardrobe — which features pieces so exclusive they’re not even on the market — but we are certainly going to take a page from his beauty book in 2025. And in case you’re wondering, we’ll start with the mismatched manicure (or as some Gen Z might recognize it, the Skittle nail trend). We might even consider going redhead.
Mingyu’s Side Part Look
Korean singer Mingyu looked dashing during his Paris Fashion Week debut. Amid swarms of fans and camera snaps, the K-pop singer stepped into Jardin des Tuileries causing a frenzy. The focal point? Other than his sleek Dior suit, his heartthrob-themed hairstyle — a clean side-part.
Mingyu’s short hairstyle departed from the curtain bangs that Korean celebrities have famously favored in the front rows of global Fashion Week. The welcome change-up bestowed his look with a classic appeal. It helped, of course, that the haircut perfectly aligned with the trends taking over menswear spaces in the spring of 2024.
Hande Erçel’s Red Hair Transformation
And speaking of redheads, ICYMI, red hair transformations were all the rage at the beginning of 2024. One of the superstars spearheading the trend was Turkish megastar Hande Erçel. Staying true to her status as a consummate style icon, Hande surprised people with a gingersnap hair dye.
It was a short-lived change-up, but Hande left a mark with her cooper-infused hair color. It was mischievous, carefree and it suited her so well that we learned a thing or two about modifying traditional red hair to match the wearer’s undertones.
Honorable mentions to Hande’s slew of red carpet beauty looks, which we’ll be also looking at for inspiration in the New Year.

Yuta’s wet-hair look
Wet hair looks are divisive and can easily go the wrong way, but Japanese singer Yuta Nakamoto delivered lessons on how to properly execute the coif at the Louis Vuitton Men’s SS25 show.
Balancing his inner rockstar aesthetics with a dapper flair, Yuta took the wet-hair style to the front row. Unlike the renditions we’ve spotted on the red carpet, Yuta toned down the use of gel and styled his hair with a pair of strands framing his face.
Extra points to him for reinventing his hair throughout the year. In addition to the copper-leaning hair color, the singer experimented with 90s-style frosted tips, blonde hair and more recently, Y2K-esque mini braids. What a cool stylebook!
