On February 12, New York University’s Institute of Fine Arts transformed into Coachtopia to host Stuart Vevers’ latest Fall Winter 2024 show for Coach. The NYC-based fashion house honored its hometown and the eclecticism that gives the Big Apple its bite. In an homage to the people, places, and things that make the big city so beloved, Coach revitalized its heritage of authentic American style.

A New York City Love Story
The show kicked off with a procession of what could be described as coquette bikers. Bows and distressed leather boots accompanied brand staples such as tote, hobo, and crossbody handbags. New York City-inspired trinkets of taxi cabs, red apples, and soft pretzels dangled on each of the bags, while Yankees’ hats and “I Heart NY” mugs bestowed the collection with a playful touch.
This season’s runway emphasized Coach’s roots as a hand-crafted leather goods company. Pink leather outerwear and leather bags, boots, and ballet flats made appearances on the runway alongside boxy jackets, oversized coats and bow motifs.

Talking to Vogue, Vevers explained that he found inspiration in his own experience living in New York. The designer looked back to the past with nostalgia and reintroduced ’90s style for the new generations. “This collection is about the next generation accessing classicism and its tropes to redefine in their image and according to their needs,” the show notes read.
Off the catwalk, a slew of stylish celebs graced the event, dressed head-to-toe in Coach. The likes of Camila Mendes, Storm Reid and Kelsea Ballerini served a slice of New York’s spirit.
Leather was a common thread on the front rows, where pops of red and pastel colors stood out against dark-colored outerwear. Take as an example Japanese model Kōki, who wore a sleek leather mini-dress and accessorized with black combat boots and the Tabby Shoulder Bag 26 With Quilting And Lip Print.

White, yellow and lilac were also part of the show attendants’ preferred color palette. South Korean Rapper Lee Youngji and Chinese actress Xu Lu arrived at the event in oversized Coach coats with bright lilac dresses peaking out from underneath.
Suede was another popular material spotted in the VIP section. Thai talent Blue Pongtiwat opted for black tailored trousers and a suede fringed jacket, while content creator Steph Hui stepped out in a tan two-piece.
