aespa – “WDA (Whole Different Animal) (Feat. G-DRAGON)”

aespa prove they’re in another league with their pre-release single, “WDA (Whole Different Animal).” Produced by frequent collaborator Dem Jointz, the K-pop quartet jumps on the gritty, electronic-infused hip-hop beat with full-blown charisma. The track is an acknowledgement of aespa’s dominating force and the pressure they endured to become the stars they are today. aespa are ready to take on whatever is thrown at them, with confident lyrics like “My scars so glorious / Embrace the danger” and “The more you lock me up, I just get harder, harder / Give me all smoke, gun powder, powder, woo.”
aespa’s attitude is co-signed by certified beast in the K-pop scene, G-DRAGON, who hops on “WDA” for the hook and a rap verse. G-DRAGON is no stranger to star-studded collaborations, previously working with greats like Missy Elliott and Skrillex, making “WDA” a major moment for both K-pop game-changers. “WDA” is also aespa’s second collaboration this year, following “Keychain” with Anderson .Paak for the K-POPS! film soundtrack.
This pre-release is only just the beginning of what is shaping up to be yet another career-defining year for aespa. “WDA” is the opening track for their highly anticipated second album, LEMONADE, which is soon to be released on May 29. Later this year, aespa are also making their historic Lollapalooza debut in addition to embarking on another global tour, “2026-27 aespa LIVE TOUR – SYNK : COMPLæXITY.”

Becky G – “EPA”

Summer feels closer than ever, the heat is starting to rise, and Becky G seems to have us ready to dance. Setting the tone for what her next project will consist of, Becky G takes us into her newest bilingual track, “EPA.” Mixing reggaeton and pop, the track’s heavy bass and accented percussion instruments balance the easy rap flow Becky G bounces from English to Spanish. Singing the story of a night where pains and sorrows will be no more, and a new love might be in the air, Becky sings “Don’t hold it in; just let it loose / Tonight, we love without excuse / Gone are the days when you had one life.” Maybe it’s the rhythm, or maybe it’s the lyrics, but the track is making its way onto our night-out playlist.
The music video feels like an ode to who Becky G is and her upbringing. Directed by Olivia De Camps and filmed at “El Mercadito” in Los Angeles, California, the video takes us through different scenes featuring diverse characters and tones, highlighting Becky G’s choreography as she dances to “EPA,” to moments where she is seen smashing ice cubes as a symbolic representation of her stance against the injustices the government imposes on her community. Becky represents what she believes in not only through her music but also through the way she showcases her art.
After being named Billboard’s 2026 Latin Women in Music Global Impact Award recipient, Becky G is only getting started, with a full album on the way, we can only expect a hopeful tour in the future.
Hayley Kiyoko – “red bikini (feat. snow wife)”

Ahead of Pride Month, Hayley Kiyoko and Snow Wife show us what it means to be queer and confident. On the significance of the collaboration with Snow Wife, Haley Kiyoko had to say, “We’re both queer, AAPI artists, and coming together on a project like this feels powerful and needed. I hope anyone who sees us together feels inspired and takes it as a reminder that there’s space for artists like us in this industry.” Following her music video for “Girls Like Girls,” Hayley Kiyoko is expanding the narrative through her upcoming Girls Like Girls (2026) film. The latest release included in the film’s soundtrack, “red bikini,” captures the moment the film’s protagonist, Coley, falls for her love interest, Sonya.
A perfect addition to your summer playlist, “red bikini” blends electronic and hyperpop elements. Under the blazing sun, Hayley Kiyoko and Snow Wife find themselves washing cars and splashing together in an inflatable pool in the music video. Dressed in red swimsuits, the duo dance and sing about a woman who has piqued their interest. “Red bikini, I’m so needy / Feed me like a summer binge,” Hayley Kiyoko boldly declares in the chorus. Though a brief incident sparked the initial attraction, there is hope that a further relationship will develop. If you’re looking for a song that gives the same excitement as a summer romance, give “red bikini” a listen.

CASANDRA – “ISLA TRANQUILITA”

If you’re looking for a track to accompany those moments when you just need to pause and unwind, “ISLA TRANQUILITA” might be your perfect solution. Miami-born, Los Angeles-based artist CASANDRA is consistently evolving alongside her artistry, exploring new sounds and stories to convey. The story she aims to share through this new release is one of calmness and light. “ISLA TRANQUILITA” is a euphoric alt-pop track with soft guitar strums and bright synths. Atop the beat are CASANDRA’s breathy vocals, delivering heartfelt lines in both English and Spanish.
“ISLA TRANQUILITA” is also the EP’s namesake, with the project featuring six tracks, including pre-releases. Though she is nearly a decade deep into her musical career, CASANDRA describes ISLA TRANQUILA like a new beginning in a press release: “I really feel like myself now.” ISLA TRANQUILITA is dedicated to CASANDRA’s late great aunt, and the title is derived from her aunt’s use of the phrase, “tranquilita,” to comfort her in times of distress. CASANDRA held onto that phrase and is now ready to invite listeners to bask in that very comfort.
teem – “tomatoes”

A fading connection and a three-minute track, teem is ready to bring conversations we wouldn’t want to have with a partner. After releasing “2X Champ” earlier this year, teem reveals a new side of himself with “Tomatoes,” a stripped-down track featuring an acoustic guitar that balances the pain behind the lyrics. teem captures the feeling of love fading from a relationship, even when the other person wants to make it work. Written as if it were a late-night confession, he sings: “Show me the darkest parts / I promise I won’t run when the lights come on / ’cause I don’t want to build a life without you.”
Emerging as one of Singapore’s newest artists, teem debuted as a soloist this past March with “2X Champ” and is now using his production skills to share his love of music with the world. Expected to release his album in late 2026, teem is set to leave us aching for love, or for a relationship with no salvation.
JUNGHOON – “DON’T HOLD IT”

Only a month after his last release, JUNGHOON is back with his third single, “DON’T HOLD IT.” JUNGHOON’s vocals are complemented by a smooth R&B and pop dance beat. Synth and electronic chimes keep the track upbeat, while the drums and bass set a seductive tone. The track tells the story of a relationship between two lovers who keep finding themselves drawn to each other. A woman’s voice in the intro hints at their shared history, “I know I said we weren’t going to keep doing this, but / There’s just something ’bout you.”
JUNGHOON is honest with his feelings, as he sings directly to the woman of his affection. “Baby, don’t hold it / Keep it movin’, I’ll be right next to you,” he promises in the chorus. Despite knowing how their relationship is far from perfect, JUNGHOON admits that he can’t hold his emotions back. “You know you drive me crazy / Trippin’, chasin’ for you, girl,” he confesses.
Whether you’re finding someone to dance with or moving on your own, “DON’T HOLD IT” and groove along!

Towa Bird – “Dog”

Towa Bird tackles the crossover between femininity and masculinity in her sophomore album, Gentleman. Mature themes are present throughout the album, and most confidently displayed in her song, “Dog.” The “Dog” music video contains elements of a sensual relationship between Towa Bird and Katy O’ Brian, who acts as her lover. Though she begins sitting in a chair, her posture is confident and authoritative. However, she quickly succumbs when Katy comes into frame. Towa Bird places herself in a position of submission, surrendering herself to her lover’s will.
The song’s instrumental starts off simple, with guitar riffs and low percussion. “I know just what you want / I can be your dog,” Towa Bird pleads in the first verse. Her breathy vocals set the sensual tone. What begins as a request in a soft voice quickly turns more desperate and bold
“Unleash me, never lead me astray / Looking at me that way, like you want me to stay,” she sings in the chorus. The song escalates into a full-on grunge rock song, with Towa Bird raising her volume as the guitar takes a solo. Finally, her lover listens to her pleading, and Towa Bird is taken into her embrace.
Ayumu Imazu – “Sugar Rush”

Ayumu Imazu is ready to become a world-class act with his second full-length album, CLASSIC. The kaleidoscopic ten-track project dropped on May 12, coinciding with the singer’s 26th birthday. CLASSIC demonstrates Ayumu Imazu’s global growth and R&B-influenced sound, which he has honed since his first album, PIXEL, in 2022. CLASSIC also houses three popular pre-release tracks: “CLASSIC,” “Bassline,” and “Home.” From the newly unveiled tracks, the saccharine “Sugar Rush” sits among hits in his discography like “Obsessed” and “Thrifted.”
“Sugar Rush” is quintessential Ayumu Imazu with bilingual, loverboy lyrics and a lighthearted, nostalgic groove. The song features strong bubblegum-soul influence with funky percussion and vocals that deliver just the right balance of strength and sweetness. Ayumu Imazu confesses that the love he has for that special someone is as dangerous as a sugar rush: “I got a taste of it / Now I’m addicted / I can’t tell if you’re good for me.” With sweet lyrics and an equally sweet beat, “Sugar Rush” is a musical recipe sure to make listeners swoon.
New Lore – “my crush and i will crush the system baby.”
The Philippines’ rising girl group New Lore is bringing back fun crushes with their latest single, “my crush and i will crush the system, baby.” An indie pop track with steady drums in the background, New Lore brings a laid-back vibe with the catchy line, “’cause damn it, here I go again.” A tale of someone having an undeniable crush on another person and not being able to let it go, the trio sings, “How could you look like a dream? / You’re so pretty, and it seems we would’ve been so cute together.” A story many can relate to, the track serves as their fifth studio single release this year and is part of their announcement of their sophomore album, “The Good Good JuJu” set to release on June 5.
New Lore debuted in 2025 and has been on a winning streak ever since. Consisting of members Tita Halaman, Kim Escalona, and Carole Lantican, the trio play their own instruments, produce their music, and design their own album covers. Using each member’s skills and talents to create a sound like no other, New Lore is bringing the self-produced spirit and girl group power we need in 2026.
Other tracks in this week’s Sunday Spin playlist include “Heavy Serenade” by NMIXX, Olivia Marsh’s “Roll,” “Blush” by Prateek Kuhad, and El Manu’s “Listahan.” Listen to everything mentioned and more, curated by Team EnVi only for you on Spotify.
