Beabadoobee – “Write Me A Letter”

Beabadoobee’s long-awaited 2026 album, Pylon, is out now, along with the alternative rock track “Write Me A Letter.” The Filipino British singer-songwriter built hype throughout the year with pre-release singles like “Sun Has Set” and “Switchblade,” introducing a new sound for her next musical era. Beabadoobee wrote the album following months spent on her tour bus, watching pylons (the large metal structures that hold up power lines) go by outside. It’s then only fitting that she would pull from contemplative music genres like Midwest emo and soft grunge for the album.

“Write Me A Letter” starts slow and sweet, with a repeating guitar riff and drum beat perfect for those upcoming crisp fall afternoons. Beabadoobee seeks reassurance in another, pleading, “The weather’s getting colder / Need you to stay / you make me better.” The track explodes in the final chorus in all its grungy glory, offering catharsis for the listener. The music video reflects the emotional release, featuring beabadoobee sprinting across city streets with the London skyline behind her. “Write Me A Letter” is yet another Pylon track to add to your favorite emotional playlist.

Wasia Project – “Wildfire”

The singles have been adding up since April, and now, Wasia Project’s debut album in its entirety is finally here. The first four songs of Nocturne — which were released in the spring and summer — open the album. After that, the project moves through trip-hop, soul, and electronica, until it ultimately leads to the closing track, “Wildfire.” In previous songs, Wasia Project sang about pure yearning, heartbreak, limerence, and solemn isolation, but that is all wrapped up in “Wildfire.” Whether singer Olivia Hardy is in a crowded room or alone on the city streets, she expresses her feelings about the fear of a relationship’s end. As the song closes, she is met with the voice of her brother, Will Gao, who sings alongside her: “Come back, it’s all in my head / Fight back, we’ll try it again.” 

Wasia Project said in a press release, “Our debut album Nocturne is a collection of songs that take us on a journey through the night. A space and time where feelings and emotions play in a world of extremes.” They continued, “From the electric connection of a nightclub, to the isolation of a sleepless night, we present a piece of work that serves as a sanctuary for those moments in our lives, hoping to bridge the borders between ourselves and each other.” Overflowing with emotional release, “Wildfire” is the pinnacle of the album’s momentum before it releases into silence and the intro track begins again.

ONE OR EIGHT – “TRANSLATE”

The newest “bad boys of Tokyo” and growing global force ONE OR EIGHT return with their highly-anticipated first EP, EN-GÏNE. The EP’s focus track, “TRANSLATE,” embodies ONE OR EIGHT’s drive to take their artistry to new heights regardless of region or language. This goal is clear in the anthem-like chorus: “When I step on stage / There is no need to translate / New city, new state, no they can’t wait / I’m on top, moving up, can’t stop faith.” ONE OR EIGHT’s skill transcends language as they speak the universal language of performance. This statement is coupled with the team’s spin on the rage music genre with electronic synths and deep 808s. 

EN-GÏNE kicks off a slew of exciting news for the team as they gear up for a series of showcases throughout Asia. “ONE OR EIGHT Special SHOW CASE 2026 in ASIA V8” will start in Singapore at the end of October, while the octet will also embark on a domestic fanmeeting tour titled “ONE OR EIGHT SHŪKAI 2026-2027 in JAPAN -2GATHER-.

Akbar Chalay, Mingse – “Kok Masih Rindu?”

Do you still miss me? That’s the question Akbar Chalay and Mingse pose in their new track “Kok Masih Rindu?,” the duo’s second collaboration after the viral hit “Astaga Bercanda.” Their new song taps into the rise of hipdut, a fusion genre popular among Indonesian Gen Z that blends elements of hip-hop and the nation’s iconic genre of dangdut.

“Kok Masih Rindu?” is inspired by something that may seem trivial. Although they find time to chat with their respective romantic partners in between performing, they still couldn’t shake the feeling of missing them. It is, after all, the bucin — short for budak cinta (“slave for love” in Indonesian) — in them. But wrapping the yearning in the undulating beats offers a more humorous, bubblier, more centil (cheekily coquettish) take on the bittersweet feeling.

REI AMI – “2LOUD”

As one-third of global breakout act HUNTR/X from KPop Demon Hunters, REI AMI has had a whirlwind of a year. She scored a multi-platinum hit with “Golden,” which sat on Billboard’s No. 1 throne for eight weeks. That song gave REI AMI a second Grammy nomination as well as appearances at the Oscars, Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, Coachella stage, and even SNL — to mention just a few. Now, the South Korean singer and rapper is back with her own music, albeit with a slightly different flavor.

“2LOUD” arrives as REI AMI’s first solo single in nearly three years. Gone is the alternative spunk of her previous releases, replaced with a midtempo, upbeat electropop sound with a slight bubblegum tinge. She has never been one to bite her tongue when it comes to addressing online hate, but this song channels it all into a self-empowering anthem that leaves trolls to “Cry about it or get some ear plugs.” The whole song itself could be seen as an homage to Zoey, the KPop Demon Hunters character REI AMI provided the singing voice for. “2LOUD” even features a cheeky “Blah, blah, I’m getting paid” couplet in the chorus lifted straight from her line in “Golden.”

no na – “star”

When no na first dropped “work,” it felt like a hard pivot from the sound they debuted with. Subsequent singles leading up to the release of their highly-anticipated first record, island girl, support this idea that they are shooting for a more hip-hop and dance direction. But “star,” which dropped alongside the record, immediately breaks this perception.

“Star” opens the album, marking the return to form for the quartet of Baila, Christy, Esther, and Shaz. “Star” pulls from the tinny funk accents and dance-pop inflections of ’80s-era Janet Jackson and Paula Abdul, much like “superstitious” did. But, in true “island pop” fashion, tropical beats are layered underneath to remind listeners that this is still no na. Coupled with the production is a collection of clever references. “Pretty girl from Jakarta, you know I’m a performer” is the first introduction to the song; “Feeling so free on my motorbike” feels decidedly Indonesian; “Manis like terang bulan (sweet like terang bulan)” is an homage to the nation’s beloved sweet treat; and “In the city, when you hear that gamelan” wittily self-references their viral hit “rollerblade,” because who else in Spotify’s Top Hits playlist has a song incorporating the Javanese traditional instrument?

CLOSE YOUR EYES – “Open Your Eyes”

Rising K-pop septet CLOSE YOUR EYES (CYE) usher in a mature era in their newest single. Though the song’s title, “Open Your Eyes,” is the antithesis of the group’s name and eponymous first track on their debut EP, this title coincides with CYE’s story of growth and unyielding ambition. As opposed to closing your eyes to calmly appreciate their music and live in the moment, CYE invite listeners to “Open Your Eyes” and recognize the group’s endless possibilities.

The song serves as a retelling of CYE’s artistic journey thus far, featuring lyrics by members JEON MINWOOK and KENSHIN. JEON MINWOOK even references how CYE were born from the survival program, Project 7: “We all came to the same place / Assemble 7 project / At the end that awaits us.” Since their time as hopeful contestants, they’ve grown into confident global artists with a kaleidoscopic discography. Speaking of their versatile sound, this pre-release teases their jazz-themed mini album, 256th Note, which is set to drop on September 30. With its dynamic fusion of jazz and dance-pop, “Open Your Eyes” is the undeniable way to introduce this era.

HONGJOONG, Bazzi – “ENOuGH”

ATEEZ’s captain and rapper HONGJOONG has secured another collaboration with the release of “ENOuGH.” His solo ventures have been eclectic in genre, ranging from smooth pop ballads with “Almost,” featuring Bradley Simpson, to loud hyperpop on “SMB,” featuring Odetari. This time, HONGJOONG teamed up with American singer-songwriter and producer Bazzi. In the moody pop-R&B track, HONGJOONG lists all the things he wishes for in a love: one that lasts, someone he can trust, quiet and steady. Almost immediately he comes to the realization that the person he’s been wishing for is the one he already has, and that is more than enough for him. 

While the songwriting is straightforward, what really drives it home is the production. The instrumental lends itself to an atmospheric sound, with popping synths that echo in and out, pitched high and deep, atop a smooth ambient pop baseline. The vocal processing gives a touch of nostalgia, while also delivering the heavier tone of the track without ever having to explicitly state it.

BE:FIRST, BIA – “WATCH ME”

The Japan-based hip-hop sensations BE:FIRST celebrate their fifth anniversary in style with the release of their EP, WATCH ME. This highly-anticipated EP serves as the team’s official United States debut and features the hard-hitting pre-release single, “BRUCE WAYNE feat. Flo Milli, ATL Jacob.” Continuing their remarkable roll-out, the EP’s title track, “WATCH ME,” features American rapper BIA. The track builds on BE:FIRST’s hip-hop driven sound with close production from the legendary Tommy “TBHITS” Brown.

“WATCH ME” displays BE:FIRST’s effortless swag as they remind audiences everywhere: “Watch me, watch me go to work / Watch me take it to the world / Keep your eyes on me I need your attention / On top of the league, Honorable mention.” BIA hops on the second verse and effortlessly matches BE:FIRST’s work-hard attitude conveyed in their respective lyrics. “Working with BE:FIRST on ‘WATCH ME’ was a vibe,” BIA shared in a press release. “They brought so much energy, talent, and style, and we had the best time shooting the video. I love bringing different cultures together with music and can’t wait to go to Japan.”

WATCH ME is only the beginning of this exciting new chapter. BE:FIRST will celebrate the EP with three special mini live and talk events for fans in the United States — one stop in Los Angeles at hello82 LA on September 18th and two events in Honolulu, Hawaii at the Hilton Hawaiian Village on September 20th. Soon after, BE:FIRST will embark on “BE:FIRST WORLD SHOWCASE 2026 WATCH ME” with stops in the United States and across Asia.

BombayMami, TroyBoi – “Honey Liquor”

Swiss Indian singer BombayMami’s latest single is just as smooth as its name. “Honey Liquor” is a sleek, groovy R&B track that pulls influence from classical Indian instrumentation. BombayMami teamed up with renowned DJ and producer TroyBoi on the song, bridging his background in trap and bass music with BombayMami’s inviting voice. “Honey Liquor” paints the picture of enticing chemistry with another during a hot summer. “The cherry blossom / you made it summer,” BombayMami sings sweetly. “Sweat drippin’ off ya / like honey liquor.” The mid-tempo dance beat oozes both sensuality and energy — and its impossible not to dance to. 

“Honey Liquor” is BombayMami’s first release since April, when she dropped her first album, Peaceful Attitude. The lead track, “Fire in Delhi,” went viral after BombayMami snowboarded down the Swiss Alps decked out in a full lehenga (traditional Indian garb made primarily of an ankle-length skirt) for the video. She keeps the self-confidence rolling in the charismatic and alluring “Honey Liquor.” The song closes with producer TroyBoi’s iconic “T-R-O-Y-B-O-I” tag, wrapping up this pick for your weekly rotation.

BALLISTIK BOYZ – “Too Good To End”

Seven-member Japanese group BALLISTIK BOYZ from EXILE TRIBE bring the energy with their latest EP, BLAST. This down-to-earth compilation is the opposite of their romantic and serious April EP, BEAT. BLAST switches into a mindset of enjoying life to the fullest. The EP’s lead single, “Too Good To End,” combines sunshine with the feeling of forever friendship to create a track that is so joyful, it may elongate our summer vibes. “Too Good To End” presents one clear mantra: “Because there is an end, we give everything to the present.”

With horns blowing, the BALLISTIK BOYZ enter the music video as they prepare for a party celebrating life itself. They sing of gratitude and the relief of ridding themselves of existentialism, all while dancing around the house and painting each other in colors. However, they didn’t get here alone. The anthemic track recognizes their fans — called BALLY’S — and their support as the group continues to rise.

HEARTSTEEL – “Live My Life”

Riot Games virtual boyband HEARTSTEEL are back with their first comeback, “Live My Life.” Taking a bright pop turn from their hard-hitting debut, “PARANOIA,” HEARTSTEEL embrace living life on their own terms. The band is composed of six members, all in-game champions in League of Legends. BAEKHYUN returns as Ezreal; Anderson .Paak sings as K’Sante; Connor Price is Sett; and Nic D is Kayn. Members Yone and Aphelios don’t have singing parts, but take the roles of producer and instrumentalist/songwriter, respectively. Alternative pop artist Jon Bellion wrote and produced “Live My Life,” bringing a new sound to the boyband.

The track opens with bubbly synths and an infectious bassline. It sets the tone of the fun, self-confident message that persists throughout the lyrics. “I don’t have to take it / I know who I am and it’s that amazing,” K’Sante proclaims in the pre-chorus. The animated music video brings the members to life, along with all of their hijinks. Between messing around in their shared city loft apartment, taking turns in the bowl at the skate park, or simply gathering up laundry at the local laundromat, HEARTSTEEL showcase their infectious group chemistry. Although the seasons are changing, “Live My Life” is just the track to keep the summer vibes all the way through the holidays.
